  • Sometimes it's refreshing to take on and finish smaller projects! That's why this week on Lift Arc Builds Tay helps out a local restaurant by fabricating a brand new stainless steel plate for a vegetable press. Mario Amaya runs the Wok N' Roll Kitchen here in Roanoke, and in his search to repair his press he found our work through Instagram! Although this is a much simpler job, that doesn't mean it's easy...
Watch along and enjoy the satisfying process of turning an idea into a real physical object! Have you ever seen a press like this? Have you ever worked with thick stainless steel? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

I imagine it's not much different than what the town blacksmith had to do back in the day to take care of the locals. Good work

Its fun filling that role (in a way) in 2021, people often dont even know that a shop like ours exists, theyre always surprised that someone is actually willing to fix or build something for them! Thanks for watching - Tay

I wouldn't worry about food grade SS considering what he was using and the conditions whre he was using the press!

If you were going to weld two plates together as you had initially considered then from the standpoint of being "food safe" I would be concerned about all of the holes. It would be impossible after welding to disassemble the plates to clean between, and bacteria could easily fit into that small space, so that may not have passed with the local health inspector.

Nice video. You really should start wearing a mask when grinding or cutting Stainless steel the dust and smoke is nasty. Also us only one disc for SS so you don't transfer the steel into the Stainless steel.
