I started lchf diet a few weeks ago and feel so much better. I decided to help my three old dogs as much as I could. Got them on raw meat as much as I could afford. I looked up ways to get the right ingredients. They all act younger, have more energy, and smile more. We all seem to be better on this way of eating.

I'm 39 now, issues started when I was 37. I went to a series of doctors, most recently with urologist, and including a CT scan. (Sitting at around $3500, for mostly no help) Started with some dribbles and more than usual nightly pees, and went all they way to not even being able to pee. They started me on antibiotics, which seemingly just ruined my insides, then moved me to Flomax. Flomax helps but makes me very dizzy, and caused me to shoot blanks.
What has helped the most is watching how and where I sit. I also play drums, and I think my original drum throne did a lot to antagonize my issues. I mentioned the sitting and the drumming to the doctors and they completely ignored me. The only person who thought there may be something with the sitting was a nurse, as she said that some bike riders have these issues too. Of course the did not say shit about diet and exercise.
There could be something to the grain and sugar eating, as I do not eat that stuff much, though I do occasionally. Usually it's just a sandwich here or there, or most recently some wraps. I do eat about two apples a day, and some honey with my coffee. So I will have to go even further with those experiments, and be even more mindful of what I eat. It seems that doing squats and stuff that that helps too.
This has been a major bummer. I'm not even 40, and right when I was just starting to get good a the drums, this fucking happened. Same deal with guitar, and my hands. Life is suffering LOL, but that make for the best music.
Thanks for this, not sure if anyone pays attention, but I should report back with my findings. (Going back to the urologist next week, and may just see about lasering that bastard out of there, though I would be more than accepting of someone telling me that that is a bad idea.)

Now its onto the stronger NSAIDs, muscle relaxers and "continuing with the lifestyle changes". Which unfortunately means playing about 90% less drums, sitting on special pads, and just doing a lot of standing. Staying away from the grains seems to help to, so there is something to that for sure. Been on that track for a while now, but it's easy to slip up. Question for Dr. Berry. My husband was diagnosed with stage four, Gleason 8 prostate cancer last June 2023. It had metastasized to the bones. He went on the Lupron injections, did radiation and, went on the carnivore diet. December 2024, my husband had a full PET scan and the results came back NED (no evidence of disease). We’ve been told by some doctors that the carnivore diet is the worst diet for prostate cancer. They said that even though this diet can be a good approach for the majority of cancers out there, prostate cancer is not one of them. I look forward to hearing your professional input. As of today, my husband stopped the injections in March and, is on the carnivore diet. We get his PSA level checked once a month to make sure it is where is should be. My husband and I are both on the carnivore diet and agree that it is life-changing in so many positive ways!! My only concern is that I do not want my him to have any setbacks. Big hug 🤗

KenDBerryMD Dr Berry after a fast and then proceeding to eat spicy foods ...like spicy sausages... I’ve had in the past digestive issues like severely irritated anus or rectum and somewhat heavy straining issues and some diarrhea and it feels like the area is just experiencing inflammation....does the prostrate get affected also? Cause some times it feels like it might cause I feel like urinating even when I don’t actually pee anything out... the prostrate location is nearby isn’t it? That’s why I wonder if eating spicy foods that overwhelm the colon might also effect the prostrate and if so is this transitory condition a problem. Sorry for this gross question...I’m wondering if I’m more sensitive to spicy foods now that I’m Keto and Carnivore like in my diet choices... I like spicy foods and want to know if I can still eat them but I’ve been hesitant cause I wonder if I should be eating them with something to help keep from irritating my intestines. Cheers! :-)

It is apparent that medical education and training have fallen way short and have been very detrimental to health. It does not get to the cause of disease. I have been keto for around 8 years and it is the way to go from all my research. Also HFLC and carnivore are fine. I do follow Joe Mercola on occasion since he does do some great interviews and has contributed much. However I have yet to find any data that shows being in ketosis all the time is not good. He does espouse this but has no backup. What did humans do doing the ice age! I had also contacted Nora Gedgaudas and she has never come across any literature that states chronic ketosis is harmful.

I started a ketogenic diet in March and in July when I got my physical my PSA had dropped to 5.25! My urologists screamed at me there was no way you could lower the PSA! I refused to get the biopsy! I have stopped all grains, fruit and as much vegetable carbs as I can, I first had a PSA level of 11 and 2 weeks later PSA 9.5, another test 2 weeks later PSA 10. It seems to be fluctuating, my Dr wants me to see a urologist and have an MRI, possibly leading to biopsies which I'm not happy about, as I'm a very fit and healthy 68 yo, and don't want to affect my health with unnecessary medical interference.
I will continue towards a full on keto or possibly carnivore diet.

I am a naturopath. I reference, and share with patients Dr. Barry’s videos.
They are easily understood for common people as well as short enough to keep peoples attention
Something that I find an issue of late is - Basically, I’m finding there’s no point in watching the videos because the common denominator, and every single video is ketogenic diet and high insulin, no matter what it is.
If it’s high blood pressure, prostate, thyroid , acne, , etcccc , no matter what it is -every single video is the same cause - and lecture regarding insulin / keto.
Basically, according to these videos every single, solitary illness and disease has this as its root cause.
I agree, that this is probably the most common root cause. Although, could we have better content as far as other suggestions and lifestyle, supplementation, herbs, etc. many people are adjusting their diets and eliminating processed foods, oils, carbohydrates, and continue to have issues.
My suggestion is to not make every video about the exact same solution / topic :( otherwise, there’s no additional new information
Thank you and appreciate your desire to help and provide natural solutions and health .

His last psa was 0.9!!! when he stopped all treatment from the cancer Docs, he took quite a bit of flack. his last checkup showed no signs of enlarged prostate or growth. He's very happy now that he didn't go through with the surgery and chemo/radiation that was being pushed on him like a bullies in the schoolyard. As a 55 year old about to start TRT, this video made my day. Because, like many, I was under the impression TRT might tend to make my already large prostate, even bigger.
Which never made sense, since, as you pointed out in the video, we have no issues with the prostate during the time of life when our T-levels are HIGHEST. Yet we get a big ole swollen prostate during the time in life when T is much lower.
This video also confirms my hunch that insulin (and perhaps excess IGF, as a result of too much insulin?) plays the primary role in enlarged prostate.
I currently pee all day and all night long. Sometimes 5 to 6 times a night. So, I really want to cure this issue. But I also want to get on TRT. So, it's nice to know the TRT won't exacerbate my prostate issues.
I've been doing a half-ass version of low carb for many years, but this motivates me to go very strict low carb, and high fat. Maybe even full-blown carnivore at some point. Because not having to pee all night, and actually being able to get some sleep, would literally be life changing for me.
I also plan to take daily, low dose Cialis, because it also helps with prostate and being able to more fully empty one's bladder. (Plus I think my wife will like it, if ya know what I mean.)
Anyway...thanks for the info, and glad to hear you're not anti TRT.
Speaking of which, do you have any videos debunking the idea that low carb diets somehow lower T-levels??
I know a lot of people in the fitness blogosphere have been quick to point out Dr. Shawn Baker's low T levels, but I'm nonetheless very skeptical of the idea that a low carb diet lowers T levels. I just can't prove I'm right though.
It may not matter for those of us on exogenous TRT, since that largely shuts down natural T-production anyway, but it does obviously matter for guys wanting to maximize T-levels naturally.
    Ok...done rambling!

If you have an open mind, I can tell you how to fix erectile dysfunction most of the time.
It may sound silly, but it works for me.
Ready? Don't laugh. I am not lying. I'm being honest.
Switch to a carnivore diet. That's right. Eat mostly fatty meats. I did that, and it completely went away. You have to get the sugar, carbohydrates, vegetable oils and processed foods out of your diet.
This is exactly how our ancestors ate. They ate mostly meat, and when they could not find meat, they would eat vegetables.
But just eat tons of fatty meats, like ribeye and New York steak, fish, pork, eggs, bacon, sausage, a little bit of cheese, maybe some chicken. Chicken is not ideal because it has a low fat content.
Just eat fatty meat, and there is an excellent chance you can improve your erectile dysfunction.
It worked for me. Not a joke.

Horses also suffer from high insulin when the grass they eat is stressed and freshly recovering from drought or dry weather and gets full of simple sugars.
Their insulin spikes for weeks on end when the rains first arrive and the grass goes manic green with sugar, they also have trouble peeing! I'm talking mostly about older geldings that were castrated in their first year or two of life.
So the poor things have been serve up a double whammy of bad stuff, too much insulin and not enough testosterone!
No wonder they have trouble peeing when the grass goes green!
Unfortunately there is no help for them because male veterinarians fail to see the connection. Only female vets seem to be able to make the connection.
I wonder if the same failure occurs in the human population too? There are other terrible things that many male physicians impose on their male patients also.

Are there psychological side effects of taking either of these, meaning for example: a man has an enlarged prostate. He's doing the ketovore, perhaps even the saw palmetto & is trying to increase his testosterone naturally. Let's say he started exercising as well, Elliptical machine & light weights, but he's thinking to boost his hormone while doing this.

If you investigate I suspect you will find those people are vegans who have managed to politicize even food. For them it's not about health, it's about 'animal cruelty'. Their definition of 'cruelty' is different from normal folks though. We see it as poor/abusive treatment of farm animals. To them, it also includes the mere killing and consumption of animals.

I've searched your videos but can't find anything that addresses muscle cramps, especially leg cramps. As a healthy mature (68) man. In the past few months I switched to a no sugar / low carb / high fat / high protein diet and daily eighteen hour intermittent fasting with butter coffee to replace breakfast.
Though my belly fat is gone and I have more energy, I still sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with painful large muscle cramps. Worse, those same muscles often battle for attention with oncoming cramping when my focus should be elsewhere while reaching the apex of sexual activity. Now that's just adding insult to injury!
I'd appreciate you addressing muscle cramps.
    Thanks for all you do.

The keto diet reduces insulin levels. Insulin tells your kidneys to hold on to water and salt. I don't want to play Doctor on the internet, but it sounds like you need more salt, and I don't mean just a little more from the shaker. If you are a large person or work out with intensity, you may have noticed you sweat more with the keto diet. An active person on the keto diet may need as much as 6 grams of sodium per day. That would be 2-3 teaspoons of salt, as sodium is only 40 % of salt by weight. You might try putting a teaspoon of salt into a large glass of water and drinking it. If it taste wonderful, you probably needed the salt.
I am pushing 67, and began feeling bad on the keto diet and I ended up drinking 3 large glasses of salt water and felt a lot better in about an hour. I began making more of an effort to eat more salt, but once in a while I do the salt water if I have leg cramps or begin to lose energy. Be aware that a salt bolus like that can act as a laxative if you are not salt depleted.
You can also lose potassium and magnesium due to the keto diet. NuSalt of Lite Salt is half sodium chloride, and half potassium chloride. Using one of those or eating cream of tartar which has potassium in it once in a while might help also.
I record my blood pressure readings daily, and have noticed no increase when it take large amounts of salt. Try a glass of salt water before bed time as see how you do.
Getting a blood panel done should confirm if you are low on sodium and chloride, but taking more salt and seeing if that fixes the problem is a lot easier.
      YMMV

Hi doctor, I have a related question. On the Keto diet while fasting 20 hours, and you experience that shaky low blood sugar feeling, does that also mean that your insulin level is too low or is it that the pancreas isn’t doing it’s job? How can that be fixed while sticking to the plan?

    • @mikecayen8580
      @mikecayen8580 ปีที่แล้ว

Just came across your question ages ago looking for a response in chats. Doctor Ken Berry is a carnivore, you couldn't possibly do the fasting on a standard American diet without going insane and drops in blood sugar. As a carnivore, we have no UP or down, always flat. We ingest high amounts of fat in the meats, butter, bacon or whatever the food might be, and ALWAYS saturated fats. If your body is in carb burning mode, your bloody sugar will be all over the place. If in fat burning mode for energy like carnivores are, the fat we ingest and body fat that we may have provides a constant supply of energy. The body MAKES carbs as required when burning fat as fuel. Hope you are well, and maybe if we are lucky, you've been a carnivore over the last few years and already know and experience this...

Hello! I know someone who has elevated PSA #. I told them to try carnivore as i believe it's the proper human healing diet. They actually reduced their meat intake (I think even stopped eating meat) & focused on vegetables & Psa levels have dropped. Here is a question they asked:
" I'm wondering if any attention has been paid to this diet and its effect on The prostate? We do know that a high PSA number can be reduced by eating vegetables mostly. My concern at this age (almost 78) is not so much a long life as the quality of life."
The person I'm referring to is a family member who is conscious of healthy eating (in other words not on a standard american diet. They hunt so thier meat intake includes wild game & they exercise regularly, stress levels are high though). They have reintroduced meat b/c of my encouragment & your videos, but still leary since eating vegetables lowered psa #'s. Plz explain this & help me provide the info they need to make the switch to carnivore. Thx so much!

I like and agree with what you say, and the fact that it clear and concise. My problem is that I'm getting conflicting information regarding a healthy diet. Some say (including a video I watched prior to yours on the same subject) that a healthy diet includes fresh fruit and vegetables, along with rolled oats. Sounds like a high carb diet, although healthier than the typical REFINED carbs that so many Americans eat. As a severe reactive hypoglycemic I went off all refined carbs for nearly 10 years. I still keep them to a minimum. Several years ago I developed non cancerous BPH. My doctor has recommended surgery. I have modified my diet to include thing like certain berries and nuts, and a lot of broccoli, and have been using supplements for a year. I still have to take Flomax to minimize my symptoms. Can you give me some specific dietary recommendations Thank you, Patrick

Dr. Berry, have you addressed the topic of choline and high PSA numbers? If so, could you point me to the correct video? If you haven't addressed it yet, would you consider doing so in an upcoming video? I ask for my dad because I (female) have several genetic markers that show I need to supplement choline, b12, b2, folate, and betaine. I mentioned to my dad that he had a 50% chance of needing to eat more eggs too, and he told me that his PSA numbers were too high when he ate eggs. I'm finding conflicting research on this topic, and I'd like to learn more. Thanks in advance.
