Great video, thanks for the help. Just received mine and installed them. I purchased mine on Amazon and got the gloss black ones, and they came from a BMW dealer. No modification needed. They fit perfect. Also, a couple of notes from my installation. After removing one grill, I was able to reach through the opening to reach the back of the other grill. This made it much easier to remove the second grill. I.E. don’t install the new grill until both old grills are removed. Regarding the clips along the bottom of both grills. Since access was restricted by the metal fame behind the grills, I thought that using a tool with a 90 degree bend on it would help. I tried an Allen wrench, but it was too long (after the bend). I had a set of “O” ring tools that had a 90 degree bend of the correct length. It worked perfectly. I was able to slid the tool down between the metal frame and the grill, rotate it 90 degrees (or so), lift up and POP, out comes the clip. Best of luck, and again, thanks for the video.
I found your video to be very helpful. I cheated by sticking my arm through the left grill slot once I had it off to help getting the right grill off. Thanks for your video.
Your method works most of the time, but the reason I didn’t show that in this video is because I have broken the plastic tab on the bumper doing that before
I did the kidney grills and the lowers in black on my E89 35i based on your video my Z4 looks bad ass thank you for all your Z4 content. BTW I get alot of Original BMW parts from ECS tuning and FCP Euro
Hi Again, great vid, I have to replace my Roundel between the grills and I'm going to use this to gain access. It seems to me that with thin enough fingers one could access the tabs by reaching through the ribs of the grill. Mine are not very thin and unfortunately my forearms are a bit thick so it's a tight fit in through the top in front of the radiator. Once again great vid, I enjoy your very straight forward, simple approach. You're a good guy, thanks for doing this, helps me a lot.
Thanks for the video. I needed to know this because apparently I'll need to remove one of the grills to get to back of the hood emblem that I need to replace.
Beautiful car! I’ve had a silver/grey one and want to replace the grills with either matte or gloss black. I’ve seen a couple of videos where they simply pull them out, yours seem to give you some grief.
You have to pretty much push straight forward on the clip inside with a flat head if possible. It should unclip it. Otherwise, it’ll stay get caught on it and rip the plastic. But to answer your question, push towards the center of the grill.
SimpleCarGuy thanks for responding so fast! Gave up last time and read this comment like 10 times and it finally gave my the courage the try again. And now I finally have a blacked out Z4! Thanks man
Ok... It worked... Just be confident and pull... The clips you can pull, just pull them free... And then pull the grill in different directions and they come free with’in seconds... indeed a 5min install...
Glad it worked for you! Some of the clips get a little bent and you need to just pull on them, like you did! I have a video on the side indicators as well, so good luck and send me pics of the end result on Instagram if you like. Would love to see how it’s turning out.
Just pull on the grill fro the bottom part of it and it pops right out. Install sliding top part of the grill first. Pops right in. No tools needed. Cheers
Check out my Z4 playlist, since this video I have put m4 19 wheels on this car. It looks great! A wrap is something I might look into in the future. Thanks for watching!

Just did this by myself after gaining some confidence from watching you! thanks

Trying to do this to my z4. Which direction are you pushing on the clips? I feel like I’m about to break one every time I try

Thanks for the tips. Just did the same thing for mine. 🙌
Awesome! I love how the grilles change the look of the cat! Thanks for watching
Is the lower bumper grill trim black outer trim with silver middle bar?
Yes, it is
Man... It doesn’t work for me...
I can’t get de clips in the center loose...
In wich direction you need to push or pull the clips??
Ok... It worked...
Just be confident and pull... The clips you can pull, just pull them free... And then pull the grill in different directions and they come free with’in seconds... indeed a 5min install...
Next upgrade... Next month... Are the blinkers...

any thought of installing the diamond grille?
just doing mine now....
Good luck! Hope it turned out well.
@@SimpleCarGuy Done it, only broke 2 clips. it looks awesome😁
The "Simple Car Guy" makes a 10 minute video for a 2 minute process?
This is a 4 year old video and one of my first, so I totally get your criticism 😅
This is what happens when you buy crap ebay copies .. only dealer parts slide in without issues
You need 19" Wheels and get your car wrapped, i have the same car and color, put on some new wheels and got it wrapped in matte black

Bugger all this, just put on a pair of leather gloves and pull carefully. Simple, take about 5 seconds per grill.
I did that on my 550 and broke a bunch of clips
@@SimpleCarGuy I didn't
Great information worked a treat and the extra info from @daleedw agreed reaching through the hole was easier. Top job guys
