First mod for every E89 should be a stubby antenna!! When i went to get my Z4 35i from the dealer i already had my stubby antenna with me and replaced it right there before even driving the car off the lot. :) Stock one is hideous. Like a toy car with remote control :D Second mod: Get rid of runflats and get some good tires. Third: Get carly or OBD cable and learn to code your car( digital speedometer, Roof activation up to 40km/h, DVD video in motion(with idrive), Folding mirrors when lock etc. DVD in motion is cool.. I ripped some music videos from youtube, wrote them on a DVD. 31 videos i was able to fit to a DVD. And now i drive around the city, roof down and music videos playing like a tv on the screen. Last one: If you cant open your roof from fob( no comfort access option + maybe US regulations) Get Smartop module. Hold fob button for 3 seconds and roof does its thing and you can walk away. :)
You know I actually like the floppy antenna, don’t know why. On my Mini Cooper S, I replaced it with a stubby one, but like it on the Z4. Definitely agree with getting rid of the run flats! Got my summer tires on and love it. I’m learning how to code, got the cable and playing with the software. Luckily my car has comfort access and I can already open the roof with the remote. Appreciate a really constructive comment!!
I've removed the two lower grilles on my 2011 E89 and sprayed them gloss black to match the main grill. The centre bar comes off first before the outer pieces. Totally different look.

Thank you for sharing this video. We own also a deepseablue one. Really happy with it. Did some of the mods you showed, like the indicater and grill. In the dash is a digital speedometer added. 4. The alarmlight will blink to short times each time. 5. The alarm beep when you lock and unlock. Now we will change the antenna to a short one. I wonder what the hump is on you breaklight. Never seen before
It's a great color, isn't it!? I do like the features you unlocked on yours and I am currently learning to use some ISTA, INPA etc tools to see what else I can do. What tool did you use? I like the long antenna for some reason and don't want to change it, at least not yet. As far as the hump on the back, that's where the antennas are. Watching these videos make me miss my Blue Z4. I had an '11 35is in Deep Sea Blue that was run over by a cement truck with me in it. After almost three years, I'm almost back to "normal"? Deep Sea Blue is the best color for a Z4 IMO. My daughter in San Diego has an orange '14 Z4 35is that she found about a 1-1/2 years ago that I am going out to pickup hopefully in August. Looking for some good mods to do for it.

i have z4 2016 . run flat tires want to change . any advise . i live in fla . should i get a summer tire or another option is a performance grand touring . i am a Cruiser usually 5or 10miles above speed limit .
I love my summer tires, so much more grip AND comfort over run flats. Corners are smoother and you feel more confident, so I would totally go for summer tires especially if you are in Florida.
thank you for this high quality video. I am actually looking to buy an E89 and your video convinced me to get it in deep sea blue:) can you please tell me how is the ride comfort on 19" wheels? And are they run flats? thank you
The original 17s are run-flats and the 19s are regular summer tires. Honestly, there isn't much difference as the 17s were fairly hard due to being run flats. I do feel a bit more accuracy in the steering and less body roll with the 19s; however, they can be rough on bad potholes. Overall, the comfort isn't really compromised. Of course if I got rid of the run flats on the 17s and put a good summer tire, it would be the most comfortable option. Thanks for watching!
@@SimpleCarGuy thank you for the reply. I plan installing 18" as a compromise between the two. A lot of people seem to agree with the choice online:) I only have a few months to wait.
