I don’t think rob ever cared about Adele, or loved her. I think he was obsessed with her beauty and money and badly wanted her life.
Agreed. And even before Rob met David at the estate Rob said he would give anything to have her life.
I disagree actually. Remember when they were first interacting and became friends, he had no idea that the body-swapping was a thing. I think what happened just was around the time of the body swap, he realised he had an opportunity to have a perfect life. And that came with sacrifices. He said he was sorry to her as he killed her.
and then he meets her boyfriend and the plot was completed.

That gives too much power to a species that did not create itself. And it also says bad people have equal power to good. They don't. I'm glad I skipped this one I can already tell that if the innocence of the brown gurl has to be 'killed' to further a story line its either because as usual she had to fight all these obstacles just to get any 'love' or once again she had to be somebody's 'savior' to exist. Even in that Bridgeton or whatever show I don't watch all the pale skin had to do is EXIST and she is loved. So over the desperation story lives they feed certain demographic of wimmin 🙄. 🙄😤👎✌️.
@@thebtchthathikes1008 Your argument is flawed because this series was based on a book and actually followed it very surprisingly closely except of course that Louise is white in the book but it was great for casting Louise as a black woman cuz she was such a good actress and it worked. So yeah Louise is white woman blond, blue eyed chubby, insecure in the book and nothing about her innate personality and flaws were changed from the book. Actually Rob/Adele got Louise a gym membership to get her body ready in shape to take it over.

A lightbulb moment for me was when David came back to the manor to a panicked Adele who was sort of hiding in that little space that Rob hid in when first meeting David.

@Shavanise Walters he had said a couple of times during the series, prior to the moment with the butler, that he was gay. I realised pretty early on that he didn’t love Adele or even like her. He was just obsessed with her money and beauty and wanted her life. However, no one could have guessed that ending 😂pretty crazy
@@raindropsonroses3919 i quess i didn't take much notice...that's the thing with psychological thrillers full attention is needed. All along i taught he was in love with her, the ending proved me wrong. Brilliant ending never saw it coming. I will watch it again 🙂

It's implied that she's planning to kill both the boy and the ex husband because they're the only ones who knew the real Louise. Just fucked up.
I think she has a plan to get Adam completely out of the picture , and soon before he has time to tell anyone any suspicion he has about his mother. He knows something is up, and rob isn’t going to allow anything to come of it.
If there’s a second season I hope Louise is alive and somehow became that pigeon that was in the kitchen 😭😂

Great points! Looking back, the scene where Adele tells Louise that she used to have terrible night terrors was an indicator that she was Rob all along. Rob was the one who sleepwalked and had night terrors, not Adele, Adele painted fires.

I felt bad for thinking Adele was an evil bitch but the whole time it was Rob. Adele was a sweetie from the beginning up until the time Rob killed her. She was a true friend to him. Poor Adele.

Did you notice how Adele tells Rob that he needs to trust people since not everyone betrays you, and months later he ends up proving her wrong? So, when you don't trust people, it's usually because you see yourself in them. You think everyone is like you.

I can't take credit for it because I saw it on twitter but one clue was the fact that all Adele's memories had Rob in them. So all the flashbacks were from Rob's point of view. We even see him several times alone (in the park or at his sister's) but never Adele alone. Also the hate that Rob's sister had for him.
I feel like David will notice eventually of the changes in Louise. She is still Rob and has to do heroin and will become cold and evil.
Oh noo but shes gonna be a heroin addict while having Adam😢
That ending fucked me up
Also, David will notice when they get to a point where he can't look Louise in the eye during sex.
But if Rob didn't say anything no one will ever know 😟

I just finished watching this show today and the ending completely shocked me. I realised when thinking back about Adele and her behaviour before knowing that she was actually Rob, that she exhibited certain behaviours or even clothing choices etc that showed she was Rob:
1. At one point Adele is in the bathroom by herself, she’s just injected heroin into her foot and she’s attempting to apply nail polish on her toe, with minimal success. I realised this is because Rob never learned how to apply nail polish.
2. Adele’s behaviour when she’s chopping in the kitchen and David confronts her about her friendship with Louise. Adele is very good at chopping the food and holds the knife in a very (dare I say) threatening way. I feel like Rob had practice not only with food prep but perhaps fighting skills as well?!
Adele also cracks her neck in a very Rob kind of way. Even the way she/he notices David standing behind him and then turns sort of stiffly and stares at David is very much like Rob and again you feel the tension and potential for violence there!
3. The sex scene between David and Rob is odd they’re not connected emotionally at all (which seems in keeping with their strained relationship)... and somehow it seems terribly off in a way you can’t put your finger on. It’s like they’re there but David is off in his mind somewhere and it’s only at the end that you realise why it was such an awkward weird ass sex scene. At one point they (almost) don’t even look like they’re anywhere near each other physically. It’s just creepy and weird.
4. Adele cuts her hair in a short bob that has been straightened (I presume), which is in complete contrast to flashbacks where her hair is long and curly. So it occurred to me that perhaps Rob was trying to feel more like himself by having as short a haircut as possible without shaving it all off!
5. The clothes Adele wear in flashbacks on the estate are floral, more colourful and feminine. The clothes that Adele/Rob wears in the present day are generally white or black and more utilitarian in form and function. In fact perhaps Rob was so used to wearing the white institutional clothes that he continues to wear white clothes most of the time as Adele.

on point number one...imagine how hard of a time Rob is going to have taking care of a black woman's hair. Louise had beautiful hair and learning how to take care of it (I'd assume) is something a woman of color learns when she's a young girl. He may as well just shave it off.

Great observation about colour choices and dress sense. Adele most of the time looked stylish and classy - I mean only externally...but, yes I paused when she was wearing that white dress in the garden ( she looked stunning BTW)...
I have a love-hate relationship with this show. It was well written and for the most part, it was well executed. I hated the ending and I honestly didn't see it coming. Poor Adam. Louise could have avoided all of this if she had listened to her friend and minded her own business.
That's what I said!! I low-key wish they wouldn't have placed a black woman in this role. Between these slave movies and reality TV shows, we need all corrective promotion we can get!! I couldn't help but think "Here goes another black woman, caping for Becky."

@@KimBlaQue I’m sorry, this is a British show. Not everyone is caught up in stereotypical banter of what a black woman would or wouldn’t do. We are human despite color and I’ve met plenty of lonely insecure and desperate black women.
The most upsetting part was the fact that Louise went to try and save Adele, putting her life on the line and ultimately losing it, knowing she had a son.

I relly feel bad for Louise.I honestly felt it was out of character for her to without a second thought of her son go save her,but in a way it's almost as if she wanted to save the girl who was once Adele somehow,even though she loved the husband-She didn't want anyone to die.

Haha I thought the opposite, I figured Adele killed Rob because he was in love with David. He stated he was gay episodes back so his love for Adele was more so an obsession to be her best friend and benefit from her generosity.

I think it makes sense if they're not preparing to die for them not to have enough time to astral project and get out of the situation but in Louise and Adele's case they saw what was going to happen. So I feel they should have gotten out of there. Idk if the drug made them too immobile to count fingers or if in such a frantic state they did not have the quick thinking to get out again. I hope you're right but I think Adele at least is gone for good or why else wouldn't she try to reclaim her body?
I felt bad for not liking Adele after the ending because her flashbacks she was always so sweet. I was sure it was an act but she was really a sweetheart. The only thing that bothered me about this series is what are the chances that David falls in love with another chick with night terrors, that’s the only part I found lazy.
The thing is, I think that David at some level (subconsciously) recognized people who could do astral projection and was attracted to them. He said to Louise in the beginning of their affair that she “shines” and Adele/Rob repeated that to her later. He also told Louise that Adele used to shine too. It could also explain why he was so quick to like Rob when he first met him.
I don’t think it was “lazy”. Without Louise having night terrors, Adele wouldn’t have a reason to give Louise her notebook. And without the notebook, Louise wouldn’t have learned how to control her dreams and astral project. The plot was beautifully written, and everything aligned. Remember this was a BOOK before it was a Netflix Original. I personally think books are written with more thought than a regular tv series. So it’s very unlikely the Author did this to be “lazy”, or because there was nothing else to do. 🤍

The only lazy part was the end where louise astral projected. That made no sense what was the point? Not like the projections were shown to have any physical impact throughout the show that was just bs plot

The cooking and the drawings in the journal vs the painting were clues it was Rob all along..but Louise dreams were actually visions warning her of the stuff that was gonna happen. She just didnt understand them
Thanks, I didnt understand her dark hall way dreams. It was her in the bed both times. Louise was chasing Adam because he would be under the care of Rob/Adele in the end.😥😢

Agreed that Adam was sharp! That's actually the hardest part for me, the look on his face as he's trying to process his mother's disconnection. That may also be why they gave Adam a good dad, so that we know he's not alone. Still the last two Adam scenes, just kill me. Poor baby 😢
Especially the way she was pushing Adam at the end when she picked him up from his father.
The ex-husband knew something was off immediately and so did Adam.

my theory is that the first time louise rushed to save adele from her house, that was rob actually testing louise to see if she would eventually try to save adele from the fire so they could swap bodies

The moral of the story is bigger than making friends at rehab. It’s about letting people too close in your life and trying to save them out of their own “huge” issues, falling into codependency, ruining own lives and causing troubles to the beloved ones. David saved Adele out of fire which led to all those awful things involving so many people. He gut burnt but it wasn’t even the end. Then Adele tried to save Rob, which ended in trying drugs, her death and then caused suffering to the person she loved most - David. And the last one Louise. She tried to save not just one person but both of them - David and Adele (Rob’s soul). What did she get in the end? Her worst nightmare came true- she died and the person she loved most - her innocent son Adam - got in danger. Who is helping in a different way? Sophie, Adele’s best friend, she is there giving her wise advice but when she is asked to leave the door closed she does it, no matter how much she loves Louise and Adam. Then Louise’s neighbor and her ex who agree to look after Adam when they are asked to. Again it’s about that thin border between just helping someone and falling into codependency, not rescuing people but causing more trouble than already existed.
She had lack of self love. Had she loved herself she wouldn't have been attracted to the idea of being with a married man and would have just continued to date. David triggered her people pleasing codependency self hate why she fell for the trix of Robadele.
@@aliastewart5403 No I don't think that was her reason for her attraction, after all, she didn't know he was married when they met. He knew that he was married and married to someone crazy as well as what happened in his previous affair with the cafe lady. He should have just let it go and not approached her because he was putting her life at risk the more they got close.
The time David was telling Louise about saving Adele from the fire and she asked him...what happened to that girl and he said that he didn't know...is when I had my doubts about whether the Adele from the past and the Adele from the present were the same person

Looking through the comments is interesting 😂 everyone seems to either love it or hate it. Definitely a marmite type of show. I thought the twist at the end was brilliant... didn't see it coming at all but looking back now there are so many signs!! When the ending of a series completely changes the way you see the whole series from the beginning it really hits hard. Was hoping for a second season but don't really know where they could go from there and it's based on a book which has no sequel.
I need more shows with twists like this!! It reminds me of The Sixth Sense, the twist in that is amazing!!

I think the saddest part was when Rob/louise went to pick up Adam. He literally bristled, instantly knew there was something not right with his ‘mum’ and didn’t want to go with her :(
I see it coming since I realize it from the way Rob stares at David. But at first I thought its still Adele who killed him because she finally found out and as we know, the obsession. (Because I had no idea that astral projection could switch souls 😅)

I also found it so cunning that Rob/Adele KNEW that Louise would save her if she tried to kill herself because Louise opened up about her family member committing suicide...Rob knew that no matter how angry Louise was, she could never let somebody in her life die this way. #beautifullytragic
Another thing that was a tip-off was when Adele told Louise that she also used have night terrors, and while that may have been true, that was never mentioned in Adele’s story. Rob was the one with night terrors.
Bigger moral of the story is:Mind your business! (Lookin at you Louise)

This series was insane, toward the end I had a feeling that that was going to happen, but I thought there was no way they would take her from her so and they did. It was sad at how she was good with Adam and her son then it all changed. This was a mind F**k and it was nuts.
Also it’s interesting that Rob loves to cook for David and when he was Adele he was always cooking for David. It also would have been good if Louise was able to tell David of the Astro travel before he left.
I agree. Lou really should’ve done that, besides being nosy, her biggest mistake was not telling David about the projections. He would’ve known what was wrong immediately, because he was smart.
I can't believe I totally missed that kitchen scene moment with Rob and David!!! I misinterpreted it as aggression and also I was so stunned by the beauty of Tom Bateman that the close up distracted me from the clue 😅😅😍

Recall the scene where Rob asked Adele what it was like being beautiful and rich and she replied lonely. Rob wanted Adele’s life and that’s what he got, loneliness. Look at all he had to do just to keep what he thought he wanted. I just think though it was a big character change for Rob to go from supportive friend of Adele to backstabber and steals her man. But that’s what Louise and Rob had in common!

I think he did but addiction is a powerful thing and distorts the mind and intent. No excuses though, what he did was and is completely terrible

There was no need to tell David and blackmail him into silence as ultimately this is what caused them to drift apart.
No one would have come looking for Rob, and no one knew except Rob and Adele what happened that day, so I don’t really understand the reason why he told David this.

Good point. Also rod was funny, witty and risktaker. In Adeles body he becomes completely different, his original personality, curse words, wit vanished and he became a trophy wife. We never saw him acting like his old self again. There are so many plot holes, its disturbing
@@anikaasif6894 I think Rob-Adele changed his personality when he switched bodies, to match his idea of what kind of wife/ partner Adele would be like (a trophy wife and perfect). If he had maintained his own personality and quirks once he was in Adele's body, David would have become suspicious.
And once David would have become suspicious, there would be a risk of him leaving Adele, which Rob couldn't bear. So he had to find a way to blackmail him, so that throughout the marriage keep reminding him that "we're all have got our secrets, you don't want me to expose them" / "you can't leave me, remember?".
Plus I think he dropped the watch on purpose in order to have proof it was David who killed Rob/Adele should he ever need.
I recently finished the show and I’ve realized that even if other characters could Astro project... say the real Adele is still alive. When Rob Astro projected he had multiple fire walls up in place if someone wanted to take his body. Remember the scene when Louise found Adele’s body unresponsive... when rob (in Adele’s body) woke up he had to wake up from multiple fire wall like states. So when he Astro projects properly he is well protected from other individuals who may want to take his body.
What I really recall that scene
Right Robadele woke up 4 times before he woke up! Each time was a different white outfit but the same bed. Then when he was finally awake he pretended that it was drugs but it was the Astral state.
Adele "I love him...and he loves me".......Rob: "What's that like?" Adele: "Which one?" Rob: "Either" (he was incapable of giving of receiving love - never had it/never had anyone to give it to)

@@eveheart2876 I think there is one deeper than that which is the reason Rob envied Adel's life so much. It's in contrast of upbringing in Rob and Adel. Adel by being born in to a wealthy and well-off family and having someone to love and be loved by, she had a bright future ahead of her through circumstances she could not earn or control. Which is why she actually wanted to leave the rehab place because she had a happy life outside, waiting for her. Whereas for Rob, we know both of his parents died and that he was living off government checks with his sister who couldn't care for him less as we hear in the conversation when Louise calls her to investigate his death. She was more upset about the 20 dollars he owed her more than his 10-year disappearance. And he had previously mentioned how she only had him around for the checks too. Of course Rob was unhappy with his life he had been dealt with a life that was miserable and this too he didn't earn and it was out of his control. He had never been loved and wanted someone to love and that is a basic human need everyone should have. Also, the reoccurring topic of what if addicts don't want to stop is very much an insight into how bad someone's life has to be that they would rather be addicted rather than face reality. The same way in which the rehab place didn't address the root issues and had a saviour complex and would be happy if you painted a painting of water drowning the fires, David does the same with his patients and the kids with addictions he wants to help. He just regards them as knutters and doesn't look to see the core issues that they are dealing with that is driving them to addiction.
Did anyone else notice that every time I we watch Louise and David from like an up top angle as if it were from the ceiling it was Adele/Rob watching.

I saw the ending coming, and it scared tf outta me, i really hoped i was wrong :)) It all clicked, him being gay, obsessive, how Adele didnt do heroine, About David wondering where the girl he loved "had gone" how she lost her "shine"..and why HE wanted to teach Louise the power. If I were Louise, once I knew that Adele was a crazy liar, I would have wondered why she showed me a power that I could theoretically use against her. I would start to figure that Adele must have some nasty trick up her sleeve, being many years more experienced in astral projection.
Holy shit just realized another clue! When David was heading to bed with Adele he touches Rob’s shoulder and says goodnight. Rob then caresses the spot David touched. At the time I took it as Rob felt accepted and he was happy but really he was into David. Even when David opens the oven for Rob I thought he had a shy smile because he didn’t think David would approve of his and Adele’s friendship. In reality it was more of how you’d look at someone if you were crushing on them.
And he sucked off one of the male nurses for the weed.
There was also the clue that Adele had Rob's red notebook (which Rob used to be very protective of and even said that he can't show it to Adele because of all the flattering things he wrote about her) and she was comfortable giving it to Louise to read about lucid dreaming. Louise tells Adele that she feels weird learning about her through someone else and Adele basically shrugs it off.
I think rob/Adele was preparing louise to project out of her body so that he/she could steal her life.

Once we learn about Robs “walking” and we’re shown he’s watching them and sees and hears David say he loves her (Louise) and that all Rob has ever wanted, getting into her body was the ultimate goal. To FINALLY be loved free and clear. Rob writing that suicide note will exonerate David of the murder, put Adele on the hook as a psycho who killed her best friend and now Rob\Louise can have a fresh start and he can “truly” get David’s love. Until Adele/Louise wakes up in season 2????? Wishful thinking on a season two but boy that would be fun. Adele/Louise trying to convince him she’s really Louise!!! He won’t buy it at first but then he starts noticing all the weird quirks and seeks to find answers and get his Louise back in her body!!!!! Someone give this to us!!!

I loved how Adam knew within seconds that something was off about his mom. Poor kid, but great ending.
The relationship between David and Louise will become just as it was when Rob was Adelle. It will be cold and harsh and lonely. Remember, astro projection removes the essence of that person so when Rob when into Louise's body the same addict, lonely, broken person of Rob when into Louise body. If he thinks swapping body left and right is going to change something the awkward relationship with David he is wrong. I feel bad for David at the end because he will never be happy and Adam lost his mom.
You would think that Rob would treat Adam with love and attention he never got as a kid but he is too selfish and self-centered. Smh this was definitely a mind twisted show

I know most of us think it was illogical for her to astral project into the burning house, I thought so at first. But, also another perspective could be maybe she was scoping the house to find exactly where Adele was. Perhaps she thought that would save her time searching for her in the house, and she planned to physically go in (if the fire Department still hadn't got there), and pull Adele out.
I see a lot of people saying that part didnt make sense, but this comment is exactly what I thought. She was trying for find a door/way in through her projection as shed already been to the house.

Otto I agree with you. I would like that as well. I think she loved David so much that she’d be willing to do anything for his freedom and redemption for life. I also wish for Adele to have had an happy ending. The only thing is I don’t like how she ignored the red flags from Rob. 1) when he sneaked in drugs at the facility, 2) when he said he didn’t wanna stay clean, and 3) by this time it was too late, but when he said he would sell some of the things in her home for a lifetime of drugs and would love to be in her position. At that point I realized he didn’t give af about her, only her money and had hoped to get it. Adele should’ve left him alone the moment he said “I don’t wanna get clean”. To me this series was about Rob and Adele more than anything and the dangers of friendship in the front lenses that cover the truth behind the lenses.. hence the title “behind her eyes”

Wow! This was a super crazy series! The ending really plays with your mind, it took a while to work out and now it's finished I want more.
And I did catch the first projection it was in the living room as if it was a surveillance camera. I totally got that someone was watching!
I knew what it was as soon as I saw it because its similar to my experience of being out of body and watching my boyfriend from above. One second you are behind them, next you are in front of them. I knew he was cheating too, it's very painful to know things and you cannot speak about them because you have no physical proof. You feel lonely af, being aware can make life very difficult, you are keeping secrets all the time. Sometimes ignorance helps you to keep going in life and to keep moving forward.
The ending blew my mind, I really didn’t expect it, I remember in one scene David says to Louise that Adele has changed she is not the same, obviously when Adele was still herself she was happy, carefree with David, but having Rob take over her body, Adele became possessive over David to the point she asked him to say I love you on the phone. I just feel sorry for Adam because he could sense something not right.
This ending is so scary. I cannot fall asleep.

Rob became the ultimate BFF to Adele and even tho Louise initially felt sorry for Adele and that’s why she was friendly with her she was also drawn to her and had a genuine friendship and desire to be loyal to her. Rob was a master manipulator
Another clue is when David said “Adele” moved on so quickly after “Rob’s” death. It’s because it was actually Adele who died, and Rob wanted it to happen.
Does anyone else like to know the endings of movies before you watch them? Especially with movies like this, I want to enjoy it but my anxiety gets in the way. But if I know something about it before watching it, I can make it through til the end!

When the astral projection started, I was so confused. Psychological thriller turned into Ghost. What in the Oda Mae Brown foolishness was this? The church shoes gave it away. Clearly Rob never learned to walk in heels.

Also, notice how they jolted awake after astral projection. When Louise first found Adele passed out, she jolted awake aggressively. Then when we saw Adele and Rob doing the astral projection, Rob jolted awake the same aggressive way in comparison to 'Adele' when Louise found 'Adele' earlier. After they switched for the first time, 'Adele' is now jolting awake aggressively.
The ending ..crazy!
This limited series was so disturbing. It's been over a month since I watched it and I am still a bit traumatized by it. When little Adam came down the hall at his father's house near the end, took *ONE GLANCE* at his mum and stopped short, I wanted to give him ALL the acting awards in the world. Just that look was so powerful! I feel sorry for Adam since he clearly knew immediately that wasn't his mum.

There are clues in this season that indicates there will be a second season. Like the missing pages from the notebook, also when adele asked Louise if she read her file to the end. For some reason, i think Louise got to know about it and made a plan. The fact that she broke up with her friend seems suspect to me. There is more to develop

I loved your explanation. I’m mostly your age. My family murdered me for selecting such a twisted movie. I understood it completely. In a sense, this movie explored addiction. The real eye opening statement was Rob’s sister opinion for her brother. She said that he was a piece of shit etc

When I was watching the show and didn’t know Rob was inside Adele’s body that whole time, I was like mmm thinking why does she keep dreaming of the teenage version of herself?

One thing I noticed was when Rob astral projected in the mansion to spy on David+Adele in bed, the projection/camera was focused on David the whole time and never really looked at Adele. This suggested that Rob thought romantically about David but not Adele.

read the book before the netflix adaptation was released. in my opinion, the book did a better job of giving that psychological tension and thrill, the ending was a build up of everything that happened beforehand. we don’t find out about rob’s feelings towards david until the very last moment after louise dies in adele’s body and is replaced by rob in louise’s body. the ending made me want to throw the book across the room lol

@@vanessaroper3028 That's the part that got me, the only plot hole I can see because after thinking she's the murderer I would not have even gone to save her, plus the astral projection seemed pointless. But if I were to give any reasoning behind Louise's final decisions I would say this: Rob knew she was an empath, so calling her a friend would pull at Louise's heart strings to go and help Adele. She's desperately trying to get in, as she did a time before, and seeing no way inside, astrally projects to locate Adele's body and figure out the situation. She may have then chosen to enter her body to see if she could get her up and walk her out that way. But that's when she fell for the trap, not knowing she'd been heavily drugged. Because I too thought it was voluntary.
