Thanks for a great video from BC, Canada. I grew up fishing trout in streams and lakes but still haven’t caught a sea trout despite living on Vancouver island for the last 15 years. You’ve inspired me to try!
This is the first video I ever saw from you, and i really enjoyed it. Its so very real! Ich can feel the tension, i can feel the joy, it feels like being there with you. Plus you seem super friendly, careful fishhandling.. you have a nee follower 😊
Lovely video, thank you. Watching this reminds me of my last trip to Lake Taupo in NZ. We intended fishing the Tongariro but the weather was pants and the river brown. My mate pulled up at the lake side where waves were coming in from a stiff onshore wind. Pretty horrible casting conditions, the casts would more often than not just collapse in the wind. But... There were quite a lot of fish just a few meters out feeding in the waves, very shallow. Turned out to be a great place to "have a try!"
I probably should watch more episodes before comment here. See a Lot of hoping cast presentations with Lot of KM & hard work, but definitely a entertaining clip. Don’t know why if something it’s not producing in one spot, we keep trying the same in the next one. So much gaps that hopefully you could cover in the actual clip with such a great conditions. Love 2 fly rig and patterns on the actual clip. Personally I would keep betting for a 2 fly rig, a generic top water attractor pattern in those -lake like- conditions will definitely bring attention and slow the tip fly follow it 3 feet under. Thank you for the time and work. Great channel. Happy holidays 🎅
Got recommended this ! Such a Incredible channel especially as I'm about to embark on my Swedish fishing journey. Moving Gothenburg in the coming year ! Hope to learn a word or two from you as well! Keep up the great work.
From my own experience, and watching countless videos on youtube of seatrout takes - your last take is quite in line with what I have noticed many times. If you "miss" a strip - or your focus is away from the rod for half a second, there's quite often a strike right then. It seems as if "breaking up a pattern" in your retrieve triggers something in the fish. It might make a "follower" into a "striker". Right before the big fish here takes the fly, you fumble a strip - breaking up the pattern. Only issue with this is that fishing becomes something where you need to focus on changing patterns all the time if you want to improve your chances... that can be a mental hard thing to do for a full day... Great video as always.. :)
What a great day! Good to get a fish for the table. Really enjoy your videos, Robert. Would love to fish in Scandinavia, season greetings from the 🇬🇧 UK
@@FlyFishingbyRobert I would like to have such fantastic sea trout fisheries in Poland. Maybe one day I will visit Gotland- beautiful island, beautiful fisheries. Record videos more often- you show a lot of knowledge. All the best!
Kul!
I've heard some fishermen move to a totally different location because they saw a seal. I personally think the opposite, i mean the seal is there for a reason? There are probably fish there. I have also had great fishing even when there has been seals around, atleast here on the westcoast of sweden. What is your opinion on seals?
These are hatchery fish released as small, so not the same as farmed salmon. They don't bare the same genetic value as a wild sea trout. Therefore it is the perfect fish to keep.
@@FlyFishingbyRobert thanks Robert - that is good news - I think - if they are genetically different from wild fish and mate with wild fish is this a good idea?
@@peterbreingan3181 it's a contentious subject, given that there are quite a few local people employed in the salmon farming industry.. I think the more we see of farmed fish the more lies are uncovered, whether it claims to be "organic" or not. There's still mass die-offs from disease, toxic chemicals are still being used, the sea bed in the proximity of farms is a dead zone, and the effect it is having on local fish populations is undoubted(I fish sea trout in the sea, not always successfully!)
Nice to see you making the most of the season and removing the glove before handling that first trout.

Check regs for winter run steelhead, SB lots in rivers up that way.

Looking away is another classic. It is fascinating to be able to go back and watch what happened at the strike.
Thanks Robert, great fish, and really good video production values .

Same as you.
Where I live in northeastern US most look bitterly at seals when they appear.I’ve caught fish (striped bass) undeterred.Share and share alike.🦭😊
I’m the same and always look out for feeding birds and other animals. If they’re happy with the spot so should we!
Nice effort bud. I have to ask you: what's the rod and line weight? Thanks
Thank you! Full info in the video description.
What Gloves are you wearing they look great for cold weather Fishing
Fishmonkey bauers grandma gloves 👌👌
@@FlyFishingbyRobert Thanks much appreciated and really appreciate seeing the vids from your part of the world
If it is legal trout will bite in dark hours. North Washington pacific coast hot right now. sea run rainbow trout.
Hi Robert, nice video , so is the farmed trout an escapee or are they deliberately released ?
They are hatchery fish. In other parts of the Baltic sea they put them out. So they come over here sometimes.
@@FlyFishingbyRobert those are the healthiest hatchery fish I've seen by far - but then again I've never seen a seatrout - brown rainbow or brook
Nice video great catches like those trouts, what is the name of the background music on 2:26?
Thank you!
End of the Ocean - Tellsonic
Time for the Tropics,Robert.Give giant barracuda a try this time🐠🦩🦎Great vid btw!Bon Appetite.
is the water cold?
Yes. Just 5C or so
How long of a cast are you making?
The longer casts are probably 22-25 meters
are u norwegian or swedish?
I'm Swedish
which country are you fishing in
This is sweden

Robert - surprised you would eat a farmed sea trout - I live in Orkney, Scotland and farmed salmon is banned from my kitchen

whats a farmed one
It means that it is not wild. It comes from a hatchery
@@FlyFishingbyRobert already thought so but did escape by itself or did the farmer let it go on purpose
what type of fly rod do u use Do u build your own Great fishing trip thank for letting us join u Marry xmas

Why trout fishing isn’t regulated where you live at the moment?
It is regulated to only the open coastline. Not near the spawning streams.
Very good👍
Thanks!
