- Fishing sea trout when it is no wind can be challenging, they are easy to spook and hard to fool. But if you stumble upon a group of fish, it can be very exciting! In this video, you can see how I deal with the conditions.
Setup I use in the video:
Rod: Vision stifu seatrout #7 9’
Reel: Vision merisuola #7-8
Line: Vision XO float #8

Awesome conditions in which you can notice every light nibble. No rough conditions can touch this, in my opinion. There are not many impacts, that could interrupt the connection between you and the fly and that brings that huge excitement. Beautiful fish😍 looking forward to more like this👍🏻

Just remember, to get your line cut off snippets.

I use an empty plastic bottle that held spices or something that has holes in the cover for shaking on food,slip the snippets in there then empty at home.One with a second lid to cover the holes and is quite small is no problem to carry.

What a cracking fish. I would swap 10 Salmon for 1 Sea Trout on my fishing adventures. I was lucky enough to fish for Sea Trout in The Western Isles of Scotland when I was posted there for 2 years on lochs and rivers. I think they fight longer in the loch because there is little current for them to tire likewise for the sea. It is common practice to fish for them in the sea around the Orkney Isles off the Northern coast of Scotland. Sea Trout are better tasting fish but a wild caught Salmon to my own rod is a decent second best. I liked and subscribed and maybe one day Sweden will be on my itinerary.
Very cool video probaly one of my favorite fly fishing videos on youtube, super nice camera angle and super quality. Chill vibes but also intense fights. What a beautiful fish mate! Do you reckon shrimp patterns are the way to go for sea rummers> ? Tassie gets alot of searun trout but here in victoria australia the sea runners are quite rare and there are only a few rivers and estuaries you can fish for them. Im yet to catch a silvery sea runner but they are on my bucket list. Love your vids by the way mate ?

What a beautiful chrome ball of muscle. I have caught sea trout in southern Tasmania and they were by far the strongest trout I’ve ever had on. Were is this? Iceland maybe. Looking forward to more videos.👍🏻

Great video with salt water fly action. I assume this is near Gotland Sweden? I would be interested in scientific name of what you call Sea Trout. I just lost a large Bull Trout (Salvelinus confluentus) couple days ago near my home on Whidbey Island, Washington State, USA. Played for a couple minutes and he broke my fly off. I was using 8 lb leader and a non slip loop knot. Anyway, all was forgiven the next day when I caught two, the largest being 19". I will subscribe and check out more of your content. Nice work!

Man, this is cool! Why do you think a floating line is preferable when fishing cold weather? Very interesting!
Thanks. Nothing to do with weather but with water temperature. I use a floating line for slow retrieve. If I used a sinking line it would sink down and get stuck if I didn't retrieve fast. Fast retrieve is great at high water temperature when the trout is more active.

Hi Robert, could you tell me which fly line you use? what about your front is it a 9` 0,34 with a 0,31tip or have you gone down in tickness when it`s so flat water

Damn nice man! had that as well last year, big fish around 60-65cm, almost to the shore just without any reason just came off. But caught 7 fish that day so couldn't complain that much.

Hade du lina klass 8 på klass 7 spö? Är den inte för tung för klass 7 spö? Frågar för att jag måste köpa en ny lina och har inte riktigt hittat den rätta linan än. Hade du rekommenderat denna? Många frågor 🙂☺️
I vanliga fall så gör jag inte det. Det är bara xo linan som är en longbelly. Tycker den blir perfekt med klass 8 linan (bara 2 gram klumpvikt skiljer)
Absolut kan jag rekommendera den. Det har varit min favorit i många år nu. Jag ser dock fram emot deras nya XO 100 med en ny slätare coating. Bara testat ett par kast på gräsmatta med den ännu så vet inte hur den är i riktigt fiske.

There is no rivers nearby. It is an island i fish on. Only smal creeks.
Wow, I love this video!!!! Very similar to what I do here in Vancouver. You said that here in North America we would call it a sea run brown trout, but it looks more like what we call Atlantic Salmon. Is it not?

Why dont you film with a polarized lens?
I film with an variable nd filter to have the right shutter speed. With the setup I have I can't really stack different filters.

Cool video and i see you have a monomaster but i do not understand why you drop your tippet pieces in the sea? Imagine how people get influenced by you
Monomaster is designed to twist the tippet around the inner axel with spikes. I only used it for the last 6 months and am really happy with it but I cant get it to work for short pieces of thick tippet. It just spits it out again. Happy if you have any advice? I dont want to throw things in the sea and didn't notice I did it in the video. Usually put it in my pocket. Im a supporter of the #plasticinthebasket initiative and have a goal of collecting one ton of ocean plastic in this decade. For me it is one of the main reasons to go out and fish at all, so I do care about it.
