My mom would make this every year before Christmas. When I was 18 and at my first duty station in England, (retired AF also) she made I swear 30-40 lbs. of this recipe, (must have taken her a very long time to make that much) and she mailed this HUGE box/plastic leaf bag full and other assorted goodies to me for Christmas 1980. Needless to say, I was a very popular Airman on my floor of the barricks...I shared with everone and they would come begging for a week or more to get another bowl full of it, they loved it too! She doesn't make it anymore, but I tell her this story quite often, of how she sent motherly 💞 from Iowa to a WHOLE lot of young Airman a long way from their homes.

I made two batches this year and I always add pecan halves in mine! 🤗 I don’t use those flavors but I do use vanilla. Don’t stir it while it’s boiling because it will bring the temperature down. 😬. It’s actually very hot when it comes out of the oven the last time so you really want to turn it out on some wax paper to cool. Then break it apart some and then store it in the container.

I've made this recipe for at least fifty years :-) Good call on the air popper and I use a basket strainer with holes large enough to let the clinker kernels fall out to avoid breaking teeth. We keep the popped corn warm in the oven while making caramel, and I also like to add dry-roasted peanuts to the batch. Thanks for making this video so I can share with friends and family.

I used to make it but the burnt sugar flavoring is the bomb! I always used a large sheet pan .it was easier to break up after it cooled .I’m making some of this

My wife makes this, same recipe except the butter flavoring and burnt sugar flavoring. She bakes hers in a long pan, says it's easier to stir. After it's done, she pours in on wax paper on the table to let cool. Then she breaks it up to put in containers. We enjoy your channel.

Hi Tammy and Chris I wanted to let you know to point out that when Paul stirred the caramel for the first time and then he stopped there is a heart in the pan ❤️ so if you go back and watch the video again you will see the heart in the pan when he stirs it the first time and then he stops you'll see it. The recipe looks really yummy and delicious I will like to try it stay safe and take care 😯👁️👀❤️👍👍👍🙏

Great catch! My wife Toni saw that the first time she watched as well. It took me a long time to learn how to stir in a heart! Lol just kidding but it’s too cool that the heart showed up.

This caramel popcorn will make a good movie night gift with movie p.j.s..I would take some popcorn out and add some sea salt to see how it will taste.
