I know & love these vintage brands! Being a Millennial, I associate these with the 90s because I remember the iconic commercials. The history of these brands are amazing!
I've been using Ponds cleansing cream and moisture cream for decades. My great-aunt turned me on to it in my early 30s. I love these videos, they are so informative. We don't need overpriced regimes to properly take care of ourselves!
Hi Laura- here in the United States, Camay bar soaps of varying fragrances (typically floral) can easily be found in Mexican and Latino supermarkets/grocery stores. In contrast, they are rarely if ever available in regular/western grocery stores. If anyone is a bar soap enthusiast in general, i HIGHLY recommend you check out your city's ethnic grocery stores! 😊😊😊
This topic never gets old ❤! Camay was a luxury perfumed soap with different scents in Venezuela. I could still buy it in Miami. All of the products are super nostalgic, still good, and I'm glad they're still available!
In the 60's my mom would buy Camay soap for her and me to use for bathing, but she didn't allow my dad or brothers to use it because cause it was too "special" for guys. She bought Ivory for them. From the age of 13 to 55 I washed my face every night with Noxema with great results. After menopause I switched to cleansing with Ponds cold cream and it does a great job on my older skin. I love the tried and true legacy brands!
🥰I'm 59 and have used Noxima as a teenager, and in my 20's I used Sea Breeze! on my skin and scalp!! then when I was 28 I began using Avon's "Anew sculpting night cream and daytime Anew! and love the ongoing results which are realistic, but for make-up removal I use Albolene moisturizing cleanser
My Nana always used Oil of Ulan she had a beautiful complexion. I'm 65 and use it now I don't have any wrinkles . I loved the glass bottle now it all plastic. I have used it since the 70s . Loved this video. 💖 from Australia 🦘
Noxema is great for treating irritated skin, allergic rash, anti-itch, sunburn. It works when many prescriptions, ointments, or expensive creams don't work. I grew up using it as a face wash (which was a thing back then), but today I keep it around as a medicated cream for specific skin issues. 👍
@@nirvanageddon4979 Use noxema during the day, and a heavier cream at night. For really dry skin I use a Urea-based cream (20%). Ideal for hands, feet, dry chapped lips, etc.
My mom used Oil of Olay. I think it's the same formula...but would love a glass bottle. Never heard of frownies but know that the curl pink tape for hair was used. I still use all the rest. Love vintage smells that honestly are still a stable today !!!! ❤️(I will look for Camay... I think my grandma used it)
I used Clean and Clear, but for some reason, the facial wash and toner dried out my skin. The Dual Action moisturizer makes my skin soft and matte, but I now use the Walmart brand of Olay Complete and the Walmart brand of original Olay. I've been using Cetaphil gentle cleanser for the past nine months, and my skin just looks and feels better. I also use Pond's Cold Cream to remove my foundation, and I even use it on days when I don't use any makeup at all. It get's rid of dirt and oil. I don't use Noxzema as a cleanser-it tends to dry out my skin that way-but I do use Noxzema as a mask to keep my oily, sensitive at bay, and it helps my fine lines and wrinkles. I also use Pond's rejuveness anti-wrinkle cream, and I exfoliate every morning with St. Ive's Acne Control scrub. I use Dickenson's Witch Hazel-the original formula-to tone my skin, and get rid of oil, dirt, and makeup. I majored in theatre in college, and did community theatre for years, and used Pond's Cold Cream to remove my stage makeup. Baby wipes, and makeup remover wipes, dried out my skin, but Pond's Cold Cream gives my skin some moisturizer and also gives my skin some much needed TLC. I follow it with Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser. I was using Cover Clean Matte foundation for years, but when Cover Girl left Procter and Gamble, I feel like Cover Girl changed the formula, so I use ELF Satin finish foundation.
I've used oil of Olay mixed with a tinted Uvray foundation. It was better than any make I've used as a skin protectant. I love it & still make that mixture for my personal use.
Please do a video about L’Occitane. They are not as old as well of Olay, Nivea, Noxzema, or Lux, but I would still consider them to be vintage. L’Occitane was founded in 1976 and their products continue to be popular today. They are a bit on the higher end for beauty products, but they’re worth it.
I saw my first Vintage Skincare video and really enjoyed your history lesson. I am 71 and have used all the products over the years. Camay Soap was/is OK, but Dove was more moisturizing. My older sister had skin allergies and I have used Noxema daily for 60 years. I am just about to suggest it to my 13 year old granddaughter! Noxema gives the clean skin feeling without drying out your skin! Back in the day (60's) it was rumored that Oil of Olay had turtle oil in it, so we avoided that to be kind to turtles. I started using Oil of Olay in the 90's and found their products quite nice and easy to use. My go-to brand for skincare in 2024 is Neutrogena for the hyaluronic acids and retinol formulas in gels and creams. One brand you forgot is Avon. During the 70's, 80's, and upward everyone I knew used their skincare products. In our age of instant everything, I don't know if people want to wait on the Avon orders anymore. I puchased their anti-acne proucts exclusively for my daughter in the 90's because of it"s superior quality. Well, keep up the good work, I am looking forward to more videos!
I like Camay soap. I used it as recently as about five years ago. I could buy it at Publix in the US and online at Walgreens. I've seen it at Walmart, but the packaging is different. I think the version there is made in Mexico. I haven't tried it. The Camay I used is a very creamy soap. I feel like it really smooths, polishes, and cleans the skin. The fragrance is nice, too. It's a very distinctive fragrance, maybe a soft floral, but overall, Camay would leave me feeling nice and fresh. Camay also had some great advertising in the late '80s and early '90s featuring some highly successful models of the time, like Christy Turlington and Kara Young.
The tattoo shop I used to work at would use noxema at the very end of a tattoo. Once the tattoo was finished, a layer of noxema would be applied for a minute and then be wiped off gently. It felt good afterwards
My first soaps were ivory, lifebouy, palmolive, and camay. I loved that Ivory floated, but Dove came to be a favorite as I came into teen years-along with Noxema as the blemishes came along. Clearacil was depended upon finally. Favorite of all: the sensual curves of Dove-so creamy and smooth, and the fragrance was mild. Oh yes, I’m now remembering Jergens! It had a fragrance I still long for. All the aforementioned were used until 1968, when I married. After that life became a stressful blur. Its 2023 now and for the life of me I don’t remember any beauty products used faithfully during that period! I did lots of sampling and changing…
My mother used Ponds Cold Cream. I still use Ponds Cold Cream. When I was in 6th and 7th grades I used Noxema. I was trying to have a skincare routine. My grandma used Camay soap. I remember seeing the pink bar of soap with the pretty cameo lady embossed in it. I use fragrance free Dove soap now.
Laura your channel is a gem! Thank you for doing what you're doing. It's awesome seeing the love and intrigue for the older American products and its history. I'm into skincare, more so Korean products, but am really intrigued to try older American skincare after binge watching your videos. I've learned so much!
My grandmother used Camay, plus she was English so she used Yardley products. My Mum used Ponds , and Camay. Another thing my Grandmother used was Dew Drops by Avon.
Oh my - Camay soap was my Mum’s favourite soap for decades. If I shut my eyes, I swear I can still smell it. As for Pond’s Cold Cream, I use it every night to get my waterproof mascara off - nothing beats it, in my opinion. I absolutely love your videos, even when you mention products that never made it to England ❤️❤️
I’m 60 , I live in the uk, I’ve tried creams in every price range some of which were ludicrously expensive, oil of Olay as it’s known now is as good as any of them . They have a new serum out which I want to try it’s called super serum. I still use Nivea on my body and hands . Great video.😊
I loved Noxzema! The reasons it clean so well yet washes off so easily with no residues behind. I find Noxzema is great for those with physical disabilities it doesn't drip and can be whipe off with a damp cloth. Love Noxzema just doesn't love the smell but i learned not to over apply the product and the smell wont be strong.
Laura, love your channel. It takes me down memory lane - the classic smell of Pond’s cream ( mmm), or Nivea’s iconic bright blue tin and now soaps! 😊 Thank you. ❤
Nivea creme was the only facial creme my mother used. I use it if I need extra moisture, but I prefer Ponds, since Nivea is too greasy for me to use under makeup. I also use the Noxema face wash every day. Years ago I used the Olay beauty fluid, but got away from it eventually.
I've used Oil of Ulay in the 80's as a teenager as well as Clean and Clear. Now I use Olay Double Action day cream and in summer their anti wrinkle cream with sunscreen. I love Body Shop chamomile cleansing butter. We didn't have Noxema in the UK but used to cleanse with Pond's cold cream which can be too greasy for me xx
I use Noxzema daily. I love it in the morning, it tingles and wakes up my skin. When I run out, I often use Jergen's Face cream. I love the soft scent.
One of my first commercials was to promote a well-known soap, and I had to look oh so happy while splashing my face and water went everywhere 😅 After every take, hair dried and restyled and blotting powder. Then it irritated my eyes as they had to be open when splashing. They remained bloodshot for days. I was given a steroid shot and some antihistamines. Finished the job and became strictly a cleansing cream only girl from that day on! 😊
I bought Nozema last year and recently opened the jar, mainly because of your videos. It has been working great. My mom and some others used Oil of Olay, which was called "The Fountain of Youth". I used the Nivea from time to time in the circular time. It works ok. I love Noxema
I've used Noxzema and nivea on my face since I was a teen. I have clear skin now. I actually used to break out before when I used clean and clear and Neutrogena . I'm in my early 30's and people think I'm in my early 20's.
i had to use a product called phisoderm because i had acne. then as I got older i had to use fragrance free because my skin became super sensitive to some products
Great video 🎉 I still use Noxema I started at 14 and I never found another cleanser I like as much even high end ones. I used to use camay soap 🧼 but I prefer Dove bar soap. I personally prefer the older brands to the newer ones .
Camay (pink) was standard bath soap growing up. I found some Camay bars several years ago at some store but they didn’t smell the same. 😧 I’ve also used Nivea as an adult; Noxema and Ponds while in high school and for a time in my twenties… I might try Ponds again (now in my sixties) 😊

That ponds cold cream is the best ever made to remove mascara! Forget double cleansing 😂
@@tracyjohnson5023 It's fantastic! I wish they still made the peach-scented. It was before I started using it. I bet it was wonderful too!
