I always use Ponds cold cream because the smell takes me right back to my grandmother’s vanity. She was the most glamorous woman I’ve ever known! And the smell of pink Olay makes me think of my mother. She’s used it for decades and looks incredible in her 70s. I just wish they still came in the pretty glass jars I remember from my childhood.
You just confirmed something I'd been wondering about and hoping was true--the fragrance of the cold cream seems to have remained the same! ☺️ I thought it smelled vintage but didn't have any memories to compare it with. I find the fragrance very relaxing.
I remember my aunt (who is 86) using Oil of Olay. My dad has used the original Old Spice aftershave (he's 82) all my life and still uses it even today. It's a smell that I will forever equate to him.
The cologne 4711 was invented sometime in the late 1790s. Holly Golightly uses it in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. My Dad used it all my life and now I use it too. I love that they kept the vintage style of the bottle.
My Mother wore 4711 for as long as I can remember. Her late husband bought her a rather large bottle of it, years ago. It now sits in my closet. I open it once in a while to think of her. It smells wonderful, but not on me.
Ponds, Revlon, and Dove, Olay? Reminds me exactly of my grandmother’s bathroom. It reminds me of her bundling me up in a towel and sitting me on the bathroom counter as a little girl after my Dove soap bath, and her covering me in Ponds. And she always used witch hazel if we got a bug bite. And when I was a teenager she had me use it when I had acne. That and Seabreeze. Though my great grandmother used to traumatize her kids and the farm hands by pouring witch hazel over their cuts if they got hurt. When it comes to Nivea, my mom bought it when I was a preteen. That and Oxy. Which are what she used in the 70’s. White Shoulders and No 7 are the smells of my childhood from my mom and grandmother lol, but my mom also used Estée Lauder.
Funny thing about Yardley's lavender soap. My grandmother always used it- and then I did. Back then it was a natural and rough soap with a strong lavender scent. It was kind of a brown/green color and had a real cleansing strength. I was crushed when they changed it to the one they sell now😒 The closest I've found to it's scent is the lavender Castille soap.
Lovely video! Here in Brazil we have a cosmetics company called Granado that was launched in 1870s and is still available today. They were seen as old fashioned and "Grandma's products" so recently they decided to use it as their marketing and focus on vintage aesthetics and packaging. Their shops now are beautiful!

I have been using oil of Olay since I was 15 years of age. I’m now in my fifties and continue to use it as my moisturizer, sunscreen and prep prior to applying my make up. I always receive compliments on how ageless my sling looks….I hardly have deep wrinkles on my face. Dove I use to wash off my makeup and body. As kids growing up, my mom always told dad to bring dove soap. I have soft skin and soft elbows. Nivea cream I use on my heels after showering to keep them hydrated. All these products were used by our family when we were growing up.
I love Ponds Cold Cream! This was such a nice video. Love seeing the old ads and packaging. I remember so many of these vintage products on the counters in my grandparents bathroom. Such a nice trip down memory lane. My sister still uses oil of Olay. And my son loves Old Spice. Thanks for sharing!!! Loved it!
I LOVE THAT NIVEA CREAM!So hydrating.I have been using it since i was a kid.A little goes a long way and being in a tin can is more environmentaly friendly.I have 27 of them😂😂
Love old advertising and very imformative. Still use old spice probably because I remember it from childhood. And Vaseline Is a excellent moisturizer for problem hands under gloves.Dry cracked work hands acts as a barrier.
I use Ponds Cold Cream. Makes my face so soft. I also have some of my great grandmother's cologne/perfume bottles. I keep them in a little cabinet on my bathroom wall as decor. She didn't wear them much just to church and family events but I love having them. My Pa always used Old Spice. I love that smell. And he used used Brut after shave.
I use Vaseline although I’m a big aquaphor fan. I also love my dove beauty bar. I have sensitive skin and can’t do all the fragrances. So I’m thankful that we have more fragrance free options now. But I do very much miss the glass and metal packaging!
I couldn’t remember what cold cream my mom used. So thank you for showing it here. I have a lot of these that I started using since it’s what my moms always used and the witch hazel has so many uses I have to keep it around!
I love Ponds. I grew up using Dove, but for some reason can't stand it now. My grandma Eleanor always had Pears soap. I forgot about it. I will get some my next trip to town. Love your videos. Keep them up.
When dad had to have radiation therapy, his doctor told him Ivory was not pure but drying to the skin and to use dove. Our family has always used Nivea. My friend bought me nivea from Greece. It seemed to be a better formulation.

First time I've seen your channel. Very charming and informative, love reading the history of the products. My late mother in law swore by Ponds cold cream and moisturizer. I've been using Thayers witch hazel toner for years. Most witch hazel brands have alcohol added. As I hit my 60s, it was too strong and stinging. Happily, Thayers makes an alcohol free, fragrance free witch hazel toner now. Wonderful stuff ! As I'm getting older, I've been avoiding products with fragrance. Here in the US, companies do not have to list the ingredients in "fragrance". If I don't know what's in it, I avoid it. Also, an American company called the Vermont Country Store carries lots of hard to find, vintage brands. I discovered Tangee lipstick and blush there. They also carry the Tangee cologne and makeup. I love their lipstick. It looks orange in the tube, but changes color to your perfect color on your lips. The Vermont Country Store has 1 store in Vermont. But their catalogue is a legend and they sell from their website too. Hope this helps you and the other fans of vintage products. 👍🏻👍🏻

Loved it!
I use Pond's cold cream on your suggestion....Channel No.5 is my most favorite perfume/cologne.
I love all these old products! The soap I remember using too!
My mom still uses Ponds and we all use Dove in either bar or body foam. Great video. 💗
Love the video. I am surprised that you didn't include Guerlain in the perfume section !!!
I use Vaseline although I’m a big aquaphor fan. I also love my dove beauty bar. I have sensitive skin and can’t do all the fragrances. So I’m thankful that we have more fragrance free options now. But I do very much miss the glass and metal packaging!
My grandmother used Olay when it first came out and my Mom uses it. I still call it Oil of Olay.
I still love Charlie perfume, my sister and I got it every Christmas in a set with dusting powder.
I use the nivea creme and palm olive soap. And my greate grandma have always used the soap, so it makes me feel like she is with me when i use it.
I couldn’t remember what cold cream my mom used. So thank you for showing it here. I have a lot of these that I started using since it’s what my moms always used and the witch hazel has so many uses I have to keep it around!
I have always used pears and oil of olay every day!!! Love itt!
I absolutely love dove, I have my whole family using it. Olay and Nivea are two others that I have always used religiously.
I have used Dove for decades
I love Ponds. I grew up using Dove, but for some reason can't stand it now. My grandma Eleanor always had Pears soap. I forgot about it. I will get some my next trip to town. Love your videos. Keep them up.
I remember when I begged my grandma to give me one of her Pear soaps when I was young. LOL
Did she give it to you? 😂✋
I use the Dove, Olay and Ponds creams and I absolutely love them
Ivory bar soap was first introduced in 1879. (It was my childhood soap in the late 1970’s and my kid uses it now in his baths).
When dad had to have radiation therapy, his doctor told him Ivory was not pure but drying to the skin and to use dove. Our family has always used Nivea. My friend bought me nivea from Greece. It seemed to be a better formulation.
I still love Revlon to this day!❤
I love this video!! My uncle always wore Old Spice, my Mom would buy it for him for Christmas. Can you do more videos like this?
I started using the vintage products again a couple yrs ago & bought a bar of Pears soap the other day, I love them.Vintage suits u so well !
I read the description and I love how you shouted out Laura Jane Atelier, I love her content too! You both have my dream aesthetic!
The smell of Old Spice instantly takes me back to my Father. L'Air du Tont (sp) takes me to my Mother. Wonderful content! 💗
This was such a fun video! I love seeing the vintage advertisements. I use Pond's to remove makeup, a bar of Dove in the shower, and just bought Fire and Ice lipstick.
Nivea ♥️, Dove ♥️, Vaseline ♥️, Chanel No5♥️ and Charlie ♥️my absolute favourites. ♥️
Ooh I want to try that Revlon shade! I always use Nivea. Amazing how these products have stood the test of time 👏🏻
My mother used the Cherries in the snow lip stick by Revlon, and we both only used Dove soap. I still use Dove, both bar and liquid.
My mom was a brunette (really dark brown) with brown eyes.....and all she ever used for lipstick was Cherries in the Snow lipstick....it looked so good on her. Me, not so much.....I was a very fair skinned blond with green eyes and used her lipstick one day before school.....all you could see was these big red lips! I use Dove soap too.....pink Dove for me.
I love ponds products my grandma used it lol oh and the Charlie perfume was her fav. I love Charlie perfume reminds me of my grandma when ever I smell it. 💖🌻
I use Nivea everyday after taking a bath and sweat by it! I have psoriasis and it has helped me so much!! Love this video!
I love the cold cream so good and inexpensive too
Vaseline and Ponds Cold Cream are two of my favorite products. They do exactly what they're advertised to do and they're cheap!
Love this video my mom use to wear Cherries in the Snow lipstick and nail polish always remember her when I see that color. Thank you so much for taking us down memory lane.
Nivea cream is extremely good for very dry skin, I know it because i'm buying it every month. Thanks Nivea!
It's so funny you came out with this because I'm planning a Revlon shades video -- just waiting on the last few lipsticks to come in the mail! Finding vintage products is SO FUN. I love all of these!
Heheh really?! I can’t wait to watch yours 💕 And yes finding vintage products is always so much fun!!
@@SageLilleyman yes! I've been hunting down every last shade and waiting for some to be re-stocked, I can't wait to try them!
I can't find Revlons Cherries in the Snow anywhere I heard they quit making it ?!
I use Nivea and ponds. Also Jurgens cold cream, it’s been around for a while too, 1901😃
I would love to find Jergens cold cream here in Australia but I don’t think they sell it anywhere in Melbourne.
@@freyastott4369 honestly, it’s hard to find here in the states. I hv to order on Amazon and sometimes hv it at the Walgreens here. I savor what I have lol. My grandma used it...
@@hilariecalijo4643 I found it on line but unfortunately the shipping cost is more than the price of the product, it’s a conundrum 😂😂
In the US you can buy a massive jar of Jergens cold cream at Walmart for $4!
I am the fourth or fifth generation of women in my family that uses witch hazel every day. I’ve been using it since I was in my teens in it really helps maintain a clean, clear, fresh complexion and skin. Thank you for this video. I really enjoyed it I have used couple of the other products here and there over the years but witch hazel I’ve always used ✌️💛🤗
My dad just can't without his Nivea tub. Literally every skin problem he has, he whips out Nivea.
Love it on my feet with socks
I love the skin care products you share I bought these because of your video a while ago and now my skin care routine feels so luxurious and affordable.
I use Olay and Nivea, and have for years. And coincidentally, just picked up a bar of Pear's today! I had no idea it was as old as it is. :) Love your videos!
im in love with vintage products...😍😍😍😍
Loved every minute of this one Sage!! And I use so many of these tried & true products. Because they stand the rest of time and my gma & my mommy both used them too! ❤️
Gosh I was using pears and ponds back in the seventies......and my granny used them and still have a few of the containers from back then.....wish I had kept them. So cool, used all those products and still use many, including the cosmetics, this was neat...thanks
Hello Sage! I obviously still use Dove and have been for 30 years now. Nivea became a staple 5 years ago when I became allergic to cold. It creates a barrier that help protect my skin. Oil of Olay was my godmother's cream ☺️
And I have Cherries in the snow, Love that red and Love that pink from Revlon. The latest beeing my favourite lipstick.
