I was born in the 50s. I will always remember my Mom's red lipstick and matching red nails. I can remember the smell of her purses...lipstick, Wrigleys gum, and cigarettes. My Mom was so beautiful.
Hi Laura, I lived through the 50's through Now! The most memorable lipstick colors were the 50's Red lip, My Mother wore lipstick every day back then and was so glamorous ! The 60's/70's were all about the "Natural Look". The lip shades were pale,Frosted Pinks, and almost white frosted lipsticks (Yardley Of London were very popular, and had a scent, and taste to them I can still remember !). The 80's were about women proving they can do, and have it all, wide shoulder pads, etc. Lip colors got bolder than the 70's. The 90's were forgettable to me ! The 2000's were all about the big, pucker,Baby lips, Lip Gloss was a big deal, baby soft colors. How to describe today's lip colors ? Well once Covid happened, we were all wearing Masks ! I think women thought,"Who's going to see my lipstick anyway ?" I don't see many women these days (in my town) wearing any lipstick ! I tend to go "Seasonal" with my lip colors.I wore red for Christmas. wine colors for Fall, pinks, and lilac for Springtime,Coral, and peach for Summer. These are just my thoughts ! I think you should wear whatever makes you feel pretty !👄💄Cindy
I don't think I can live without lipstick; I started wearing it in late high school (much to my mom's disapproval), and all through college. Now, it is weird not to have one tube in my purse.
I wasn't around in the 1950's but I really have a warm feeling for that decade, the fashion, values, music etc. I was born and grew up in the 60's to 70's and look back on those decades with great fond ess especially the early to mid 1970's. Back to lipstick, I believe some around the 40's and 50's had some toxic dyes in them that were later banned
I enjoy these videos so much Laura! I’ve been watching for a couple years now and I couldn’t be happier to see you grow. I’m sending you much love doll 💕😊
I would like to go back to the 50's. I just loved the makeup and clothing. I see pictures of my mother from that time and she was just beautiful. Just like a movie star of that time period. Also, I loved Marylin Monroe and her whole look!
I was born in the mid fifties. I remember my mom wore a pink lipstick by Max Factor called Pink Jade. I wasn't old enough to wear make up until Christmas 1969. I got my first lipstick called Beige Together by Yardley in my Christmas stocking. I loved it. My favorite make up decade is the 1960's. The 1970's is next favorite. I wore a shade by Revlon called Silverpearl Pink. It was a shiny, shimmery warm light pink. Loved it. In the 1990's I wore Estee Lauder Starlit Pink.
I love learning about the history of cosmetics and fashion. Just subscribed! I’m starting my masters in museum studies next month and will be definitely circling back to your channel often!
WOW, thanks so much for this video. You put so much effort and research into them. I really love the 70s looks and 90s because I came of age in the early 90s.
I love the video ❤ my favorite decades were 60s and 70s style, even though I’m an 80s baby. My beautiful Mother still kept her makeup 💄 which I have today
My parents were born during ww2. I am 40 years old so that tells you the gap between our ages but my maternal grandmother is still alive. She was 15 when she got married in the 1940s and had my mom at 16. What is so weird, is that she always wore lipstick all her life. Now at 90, her lips are so thin and she has hardly any lips at all but sometimes she wears it and it smudges everywhere. I told her to buy the kind that stains and won't budge, now she's happy. Red seems to be the color in the 50s and 40s according to her. My mom used wines and mauve because we are Hispanic and she was more bronzed skin and for some reaosn lip stick is what all women wore. My grandma says even if a woman didn't wear any other piece of makeup, lipstick was a must along with a pair of earrings and putting your hair up, and voila, you were halfway dressed.
If it had to be the 20th century, I would pick anywhere from the 30s to the 50s. I just like the clothes from those timeframes. I don't like red lipstick though, so that may have been an issue for me. I really like earlier times way back in history though better. Very interesting on how lipstick came to be, and thank you for the video. Happy New Year Laura :)
It is fun how things change, then they had lipstick stensil, today it is eyeliner stensil.. 😅 Great video as always. Wish you and your family and fur baby's a great new year. Big hugs from Denmark. 💝🌹🥰
You have similar colouring as me, dark hair, fair skin. The red lipstick really suits you. I like red especially around the holidays. Have you ever thought of doing a video of your favourite lipsticks?
Boy oh boy that’s a tough one which one would I want? What arrow would I wouldn’t live in for a day can I be selfish here and say all of the errors you covered except the 80s 90s in 2000 because those are more fresh in my mind that I’ve already done. FASCINATING STUFF TY!!!!! 👄 💄 ✌️
I don' t think there' s a single red lipstick that I don' t have. I try absolutely all the launchings because you never know when something is gonna beat the current champion. Call it addiction, call it collecting😉. I' m 50, btw. I will be coffin ready with *MAC* _Russian Red + Cherry_ lip liner. Without any kind of doubt, heaven is a place full of 💄💄💄💄💄, cheese and, needless to say, our beloved ones. Haeavenly video, thanks for the dedication🧛🏻♀️🖤!
The 1960s!!!! The Hair (long, except for the Joey Heatherton hair cut! ) The Ronnettes, British Invasion. Those clothes , the makeup was more focused on the eyes, lashes and liners then redstick. 💄 👄
Im just now discovering your channel, so if you already have, ignore me. But have you done a video yet on Erno Lazlo cosmetics. Its what my grandmother used her whole life and her skin was beautiful. Apparantly it was also the brand Marilyn Monroe used.
I would like to go back to the 1930's. The women were softer, more feminine and there was a simplicity and kindness about the era. You didn't have much money so you only had a few good clothes and they were looked after and treasured. Women were more modest and `I liked the longer, leaner silhouttes. The hats and accessories were beautiful too, as were the hairstyles.

I've never heard of anyone changing their lipstick color with the seasons. That's a lovely idea!

I think a video about the playboy girls, “Next door” era would be really cool like Paris Hilton, Mary, Kate, and Ashley. House bunny stuff 🥰
I was a teenager in the 1980s. I miss the fashion and hairstyles of that decade.
Such a fun decade
I love lip products, gloss, balm, lipstick, mask, oil, etc. One of my very favorite lipstick brands is Revlon.

The 60s are my favorites. I would sell everything to go back in time. Idk I think k I would be so happy there without social media
