You WOMEN are HYPOCRITES! It's called DOUBLE STANDARDS, y'all.

  • When a woman says she won't date a short guy, people say it's a dating preference. When a man says he won't date a woman because she's overweight, society says he's fat shaming. No matter how you slice it, it's a double standard.
This week, I lay it all out, discussing the many ways we body-shame men, while coddling women. Weigh in on the conversation down in the comments section.

YES! Thank you! I've said this for years. It's super unfair that as a man you're not allowed to say you don't find a fat woman attractive, but every music video or movie with a fat woman has her fantasizing over tall, muscular men with huge packages who somehow also have time to earn six figures, clean the house and feed the kids! Where's she gonna find that unicorn?

At this point, everyone wants a fit partner. Also if a person is unfit, there are usually issues that they need to deal with before being in a relationship. No one person can help people change. They have to do the work themselves.

I’m a dude and I have been “body shamed” by women a lot. I’m not saying men are perfect angels we can be awful too. I’m just saying some women can be incredibly cruel to us. When I try and talk to about this with my female friends they seem to shrug it off and say things like men don’t have feelings.

    • @ThisBahamianGyal

I know men who have been body shamed by girls. I'm so very sorry that you have had to deal with that, and it's sad that your friends don't offer any understanding or support. Men need love and support, just like women.

I would probably look for new friends if I was you. Why be around people who hurt your feelings, denying their existence in the first place? But that's me.
I was "body shamed" in elementary school when internet didn't exist for just common folks, I was simply very short back then and very skinny. And shy. And that was enough. When I saw some of them around two decades later, I couldn't help but smile with satisfaction, princes and princesses turned into frogs. Karma is a b*tch 😈

This reminds me of Riley Dennis's infamous take on preferences, saying that our dating preferences are inherently harmful against fat, trans, disabled, etc. people and those preferences are a social construct rooted in bigotry that can be "unlearned".
    Big oof on that. 😵‍💫
Dating preferences are like belly buttons: everyone has them and it's perfectly normal. People shouldn't be shamed for not finding a 300lb woman (or man) attractive. No one is entitled to sex or any romantic relationship in general. Your dating pool being shallow doesn't give you the right to use slander in order to shame people into swimming in your end.

    • @ThisBahamianGyal
      @ThisBahamianGyal  ปีที่แล้ว +25

Oh, I agree with you. No one should be shamed into liking them/dating them. That's just crazy. I just don't like when women expect men to accept them as they are, but clown men for who they are and things they can't control. The Australian guy in the video said it best...say I'm not your type, but, don't be nasty about it.

Don't allow it know what you like be that when happy in your skin people can't get to you.

Male body image issues are never taken seriously, I was 104lbs at 6’2 my sophomore year of high school and my parents chalked it up to a growth spurt while immediately getting my sister a nutritionist and therapy when she printed out the plan for a crash diet. Shits wild look at ED discourse it is never taken to the male experience with it. I think more people get concern over anorexic teen girls because it's a known common issue and risk for suicide.
Where it is common for young boys to be thin until they start fulling out some boys don't start bulking up into 20s and have a Wirey thin frame all through high school but are healthy boys.
females overall start puberty younger and have women's bodies by high school so can be seen as a red flag if lack of shape because the whole anorexic thing females being obsessed with being thin to the point of harming themselves.

The same women who complain about "slut-shaming" are the ones who shame men for sleeping around and call them "man-whores".
The same women who complain about being sexualized and objectified post IG lingerie selfies and drool over banana hammocks.
The same women who say they want men to be more sensitive, cry, and show their emotions are the ones who cal you a "pu--y" for having feelings.
Literally everything women complain about men doing is stuff they themselves do to men.

Because that's how the world works. Bad people will hurt others, then the victims in turn will hurt other people, perpetuating the cycle of abuse. Also, although I agree with your other points, that one about women complaining about being objectified is totally valid. as a woman i’ve always felt this way , i grew up being more pulled to having guy friends then girls and i feel like men are so misunderstood (in many women’s eyes). just because they’re masculine and “tough” and laugh at shocking / dark jokes does not mean they don’t have feelings. once i got a bit older and began being around more women the amount of judgment they had towards men and themselves was astonishing. it was seen as something to laugh at (now you can’t laugh at women, but a few years ago many women would degrade other women). i just never saw men act that way.
like for example: if i said i was self conscious about something , guys made sure not to bring that up or they would tell me how silly i was. while the girls around me would use it against me. i know this isn’t all women and all men, but it’s what i’ve experienced. now women have changed to “we must only uplift women , even during times they’re wrong. but we can still have this same attitude towards men” and it makes no sense

I once dated/courted a young lady for a few years that upon the day of our going out separate ways decided to verbally assault my "Peter Parker". I, who am absolutely comfortable with myself think I ticked her off even more when she didn't get the emotional response from me that she expected. But I did in turn ask her a question afterwards. This is the question I asked her. How many men have you been with that later on at some point you considered them then as you consider me now. She responded with it has been quite a few. I laughed so hard at her response and in the process got the response from her that she was expecting from me. She finally took the bait and asked what I found to be so funny. I answered her by saying "It appears that you are more proficient at elevating your legs than you are your mind". Maybe you should put more energy into getting ahead in life rather than getting a head in your life". I ran into her a few years later and she apologized for what she had said and how wrong she was for her ignorant display of anger towards me on that day.

This is my opinion you didn't fell in love with this man you settled for him because every woman should understand this you attract what you are if your beauty fades next thing you know not a lot of men are checking for you so you gave the man that really wanted you a chance knowing deep down you didn't want him you want the Chad you want the men that are not tame you want the man that every single woman wants you just settled for him deep down when a hot guy knocks on the door you're quick to throw everything away for him that is 100% the truth is every male celebrity hot male models knock on your door you're telling me you're going to close that door and go back to your husband I'm just being honest here you don't love it because when there's another man more attractive than him all women have this you're quick to throw him away for something better but the downside is if you do that that man might not treat you so well like the man you were with before that's the truth it happens all the time

My partner is 5'-8" tall and slim; considered on the shorty side even by men. He's also 70y/o now. At the time he was in his early 60s and on crutches from a torn Achilles. This tall, built guy accused him of leaning on his car. He responded that he wasn't yet the guy pushed the ussue. My partner handed me the crutches, hobbled up to the guy and got in his face, "Now you callin' me a liar?!". The dude took a good look at his face, turned around and got in his car. My partner told me about a break in at his apartment when his children were very young. He found the guy in his living room and proceeded to punch him in his face. After the police left he found a piece of the guys tongue on the rug. He's a former Top-10 Handball player. You don't want to get hit by a guy who can slap a ball out if his hand travelling at over 100 miles per hour 😏

My fiance is 5'7 but I see him as 7 feet tall cause he treats me like a prince and takes care of my heart, body, and mind. I feel bad for these judgemental men and women because a few months of having a "dime" on your arm isnt worth a life time of sadness and being alone on your death bed once they leave you for someone taller or with a bigger " Peter Parker". One of the reasons I think that I like short guys is because they try harder. @@ThisBahamianGyal i feel that is where change will need to come from to be effective, self-policing a group is far more effective than outsiders criticizing a group.
i feel i should also say that the rational side of the brain knows that "not-all-women"... logically i know many women care for men, but I also admit the mechanism I have adopted to keep myself "protected" (from disappointment? from anger?) is to know not to expect anything from women. this is not good, and it is against my ideals and something i certainly need to change.
btw, i also call out guys who do toxic crap, i try to do it in a comedic or clever way to plant that seed rather than just dropping the hammer on them. but bad behavior is not good regardless of who does it and men are far from perfect in that respect. i am glad to see there are women that feel the same way about their own in-group

I love Sims 2, and one of the things I LOVE about Sims 2 is the turn-ons and turn-off system. Fat can be a turn-off, but it can also be a turn-on. Being unemployed can be a turn-off, but it can also be a turn-on. Being in a high-level career can be a turn-on, but it can also be a turn-off.
Basic things, like hair color, or whether or not you wear make-up or jewelry or perfume can be turn-ons, but also turn-offs. STINK can be a turn-on or a turn-off. Skin color isn't even an option for turn-on or turn-off, but occult status can be. So, no racism, but occult-ism is an option, because some people do NOT share the ideology that witchcraft is good, and some people think vampires are evil (in the Sims, they are just people who happen to burn in the sun and stop aging. Evil is in how the player plays them).
I LOVE how they recognize that turn-ons and turn-offs are strictly personal and subjective, and THERE IS NO UNIVERSAL STANDARD OF BEAUTY OR ATTRACTION. It's wonderful!
And when your turn-ons/off are all aesthetic things, like hair color, you wind up growing out of your love, when your partner becomes an eldr with gray hair (unless gray hair is your turn-on). BUT, established relationships can thrive, even without the turn-ons, and even with turn-offs, because personality counts a lot, too, as well as how long you've known the person, and relationship level.
It's not 100% realistic, but there's a lot more realism in this simple system than people give credit for.

My longest relationship was with a guy who's my height (5'3) he likes to say that he's one inch taller than me because it says so on his license.. i guess that means im 5'4?? LOL. Anyways we dated for around 3 years and we were just peanut butter jelly time. After he broke up with me (i dont understand why still but i respect his decision) i wanted to stay friends because he is so funny we share similar humor, geek out over animation, and he is kind. I also feel safe around him. I mean i dont expect him to win in a fight becausr he wouldnt want to fight in the first place, but strength and height are not factors that contribute to me feeling safe. Anyways great guy, its been 5-6 years since ive known him. So glad i swiped right on a dude for a picture of men in mario and luigi costumes posing like it was a family photo (i was unsure about him bc of his facial appearance, but i realized how beautiful his face actually is).

I thoroughly enjoy your content love. I am not perfect but, I am still particular about height. I have tried to ignore it but, I just feel uncomfortable when the man is shorter. And I am hearing you, if I am going to be picky based on something someone CANNOT change then I must keep the same energy when someone is not into me for something I cannot change. Thank you for the reminder love.
