- Super Formula Lights is the final step that drivers face on the Super Formula ladder before heading into the top-level series. With a history of taking its basis from global Formula 3 regulations, for 2024, the series will feature Dallara's latest addition to one of the most impressive portfolios of open-wheel cars in racing history.
Known as the Dallara 324, the current Super Formula Lights car is a successor to the 320 model that the series featured over the previous four years. Aside from chassis and aerodynamic upgrades, the new car sees a big departure from years past as it moves to the first spec engine in series history. It features a turbocharged, three-cylinder, 1.6-liter Toyota TGE33 engine developed by TOM'S, capable of producing roughly 275 horsepower. This is the same caliber of machinery that most of the world's top young open-wheel racers to go through as they climb to the highest level, so don't underestimate it!

I'm a little concerned about how thin it might get in terms of driver numbers due to there being so many single seater series but overall new cars are welcome!

@@John-ok8tsiracing actually has a bad track record of this. They will keep a dead series live on the service for years if someone continues to pay for it🤷

Looks like it'll be great training for accelerating in the SF. The balance of speed against the snap oversteer limit takes time to learn.

F3 will be retired within a year. This is just an updated f3 car. The old F3 was the dallara f317 and the super formula light is the dallara f324. It's just an upgraded version of the f317

Hands movement, iracing is heading in the right direction. Not a big thing but big things are made of subtle ones.

I hit the tear-off button so many times in a race, if it were real life my visor would be like 2 inches thick at the start. LOL!

is just a regional F3 car for japan.
This dallara 324 is used in euro formula as well not just sf lights
LMU has ruined IMSA for me, but I want to have a go with rain this season. Leaving me thinking probably F4 or maybe FF1600. But this new formula car looks rad. Will this car have rain tyres on release?

thought it would replace but them naming it SF Lights might actually make it a new series which would be questionable giving it's a direct successor of the F317

My guess is it will run side by side with it like the formula 3.5 is doing. It could kill the f3 series if that’s the case. But I have no idea.

NGL i prefer the sound of the curfent f3 but we ll see how this one drives , current one is perfect tbh.
Agree. I’ll miss the current F3 sound a lot if it is phased out. Same with the handling. This looks more like a fast F4 to me.
@@Hexadeci same , hope it handles more like the current f3 . I really didn't like the f4 after driving the f3 , and i only got 2 or 3 weeks of racing in it so this came early into my transition to f3 .
Forgot tk note , this car should be quire faster thzn the current f3 and has more power so in theory it *should* be more like the f3 or sf23 than the f4 . But thats on theory@@Hexadeci
I’ve grinded in super formula to where I’m now comfortable racing in it and not wrecking, so this series would be too slow for me 😂

Generally excited but a few concerns:
Naming it SF Lights leads me to think it will not replace the current F3 championship. This is bad for multiple reasons.
First, it will split participation.
Second, players that recently bought the F3 will most likely pay full price for this as it is a new series with the F3 coexisting on paper despite most likely dying on participation.
Third, we will most likely have again pressure to put Japanese tracks on it, while F3 was a global series without any bias to one country.
Fourth, and this is a minor one, the brand SF Lights will be unknown to many people while F3 was a known brand despite the car technically not being a modern representation of F3 anymore.
Would be a way better solution to just replace the Formula C with it, keep it without any country-bias and give people some money back after buying the soon outdated F3.
Also, I really hoped this would get rid of the "red on dark red" rev lights steering wheel, but at least it seems like the rev limiter is WAY more forgiving than in the current F3.

Too many open wheelers now, the player spread is becoming too much. SF grids are already quite empty and this car is too similar to the f3. Its a nice thing to have and im sure the quality will be top as always, but its just a shame that it likely wont get the attention it deserves.
Something needs to be done about the very high number of different series running simultaneously because quite a few of them just stay empty most of the time

@@drchtct they probably won’t as these aren’t a facelift, they have a different engine, different aero package, are for a different series etc. They announced this a while ago as well
Got the f3 a week ago. Joined I racing with 3 months sub and one week later was Black Friday so asked if I could do 2 years sub on the new acc rate since I wanted to try it before committing. Answer no 😁 all it takes is Assetto Corsa to make a similar ranked in a one time purchase and they will see people fleeing
