Can't wait til that happens irl and sh*t myself.
Lmao
Be careful what you wish for mate
We also can't wait
What about rain at night? iRacing never showed it...
Oh, I hope that doesn't happen! But if it does, please ensure the cameras are rolling ;)
Imagine leading in an endurance race here and just passed the pit entrance and the rain starts to come down. 7-8 minutes tippytoeing round whilst those behind had the chance to pit!
thatts life
That's death @@lukashrabalek
you can actually (naturally costs time as you invalidate that just started lap) also enter the pit from the end of the GP track (atleast irl) for exactly such scenarios (or when you get into an accident on the GP track) however, after you turned left onto the Nordschleife you are FFFed like you said
Check out the ending of the 2017 NBR 24 hours.
Best race ending EVER@@LeonardoBruno54

Jimmy: I'm interested how AI handles in the rain
AI: can't take the first corner in the dry...
14:55 we needed a trackside view reply from that
TBH if it wasnt for Jimmy's commentary we'd prolly have been like "Jimmys a god!!"
This was tremendously satisfying to watch. I'm glad the iRacing folks took their time and implemented rain right, rather than just doing a quick cosmetic addition.
Even if you're not an iRacer, you will benefit from this in the future because rain-wise it seems like it will be the standard that other sims will be measured against and hopefully aspire to.
What are your thoughts on AMS2 weather, not including AI inbalances.
It also has weather on different parts of the track, ie raining on one part of the track and not on others.
@@EmJayEssAMS doesn’t simulate grip change of the rubbered in asphalt
Out of curiosity, does anybody know how realistic Assetto Corsa CSP rain is?
Absolutely right it's about time we finally get some competition again in the sim racing space
@@ToyotaMotorola i would say its fine. It doesnt come close to the aspects shown in this video, i would compare it more to ams where its 'pretty, slippery, but not very accurate'
*jimmy doing good in this race*
Rain: “I’ll get you next time broadbent!”
I hope every time it rains in a formula race everyone has to sit around in the lobby for an hour just for the race to get red flagged like in real life
Jimmer knows he lookin good in that polo
they need to update the spectators to bring out their ponchos
I was there flagging you at Post 110 when the rain started that NLS race and even we just saw the clear sky in any direction except above us :D
Theres going to be a lot of lower ranked/rating races that end in disaster and alot of angry people. Probably alot of good material for crash/racing stewards videos though.
Multiclass is going to be wild in the rain
I'm constantly amazed at how far sim racing has come. I can't believe we're at Project Cars 2 levels already
???
Still doesn't beat Forza Motorsport of course
Brian Rainville is a good name for this race.
This rain update really peaks my interest in this game
this makes me worried for my safety rating this next season
Piques or piqued
Not peak bubba
2:20 one of my favorite parts about taking roadtrips, is getting to see all the weather!
Dude that one area where it had a river running down has me hyped.
iracing is the worse car sim , no phisics realism , if the car start oversteer front tires do nothing even if you countersteer instant to maximum angle even slow speed 😂 this is a joke simulator . I drifted real cars a lot but this game has nothing in common with realism
Funny joke
Holy moly, rfactor 1 era graphic is amazing😅
I feel like the reason it took so long to push this update was the fact that they were fine tuning the behavior and such. All in all a great update to the game
I worked out what looks wrong about the wet tarmac - it doesn't darken as it gets wet. As the spray was starting to be thrown up, the track *looked* bone dry because it was still the same brightness as before the rain.
I love the fact that puddles forming around the track and can even turn into rivers. It also shows all the imperfections of the Nordschleife.
Much prefer a style like this to one of your more recent videos. More intense and "funny" editing can have a place, but it can get in the way of Jimmy and the actual content, which imo is much more interesting and important with slower and more deliberate pacing
Windscreen raindrop whiping animation needs work though :)
I hope Jimmy goes into race commentary at some point, after he gets bored of winning them. He would be good commentating on sportscar racing I think. Especially as he gets more on track experience. Jimmy Broadbent, Shea Adam, and a platinum veteran like an Anthony Davidson would be a good booth.
Hoooooly craaap that last braking zone was amazing! iRaining looks so good
I could only imagine you doing a 24HOURS Le Mans with transitional WEATHER finally for the next year 😁
How it’s comparing vs GT7 weather model? 🏎️
For a big track like this is it possible for the rain to be on one part of the track and not the other?
Of course it is. From one to another end of circuit is about 8 kilometers, so have you been driving in the road, there is some epleca when the rain starts, and the few thousand meters back there was still all dry. Even on smaller tracks this can happen, especially in the begging and end of the rain.
Jimmer.. I recently started streaming because of you, you shexy Beashed! ;)
This is exactly what I was waiting to see I know personally the first thing I’m gonna do when I get home is boot up the old nordschleife for a torrential downpour haha
My custom made Abruzzi gloves were VERY DISAPPOINTING. The design didn't match my order, the gloves didn't last long and their cut was not comfortable. Can't recommend them.
I'm using simple cycling gloves now and couldn't be happier.
I don't understand why the British are so determined at being nonsensical with the language they created. "In the wet" is such a weird description lmfao
This looks very interesting! It seems like wet track conditions are very detailed on the ring. I wonder if they can simulate different weather on multiple sections where on part is wet while some other part stays dry. That often happens on the nordschleife.
True, should be more drops when going fast and less when slow.
Damn it looks amazing. So well made.
Having played mostly ACC (For uhh.. financial reasons) i can safely say the ACC rain is going in the trash bin 😂
Might have to consider getting iR subscription again now...
is this better than rfactor?
The Green Hell is the best trackof the world. Rain is so scary with the track having different grip every curve
Impressive driving Jimmy, awesome to see you being able to commentate while you're driving!! That's very cool. I don't have iRacing on my account... Should I get it?
Man, I just didn't prolong my iRacing sub because I can't drive the MX5 anymore, it's just too damn slippery. And now they added rain?? How will people even get through the first corner with that car..
This is officially the first time I've purchased something from a company a youtuber advertised...a pair of customized gloves.
You know its a good day when Jimmer uploads
Looks like you're still on the dry line. I wish they could simulate the slippery dry line.
I don't play iRacing but I have seen countless of your races and I gotta say that the new weather effects are so, so important. iRacing had become incredibly boring to watch (in this regard) because of the lack of variation in weather. It was always either clear blue sky or night and it looked so dull and bland compared to other racing simulators. So, I'm really happy for everyone playing iRacing that you guys have finally more variety.
I'm not here to troll, all sims have their merits, and I don't really care too much about visuals. However - if you pause at 11:41, well, it looks absolutely awful, GP4 released in 2002 with mods looks miles better.
Oh god it just went live, thank god the Nordschleife event is unranked because this is the Safety Rating Killer. Holy crap is it good, but challenging as can be.
Hmm..
- your slicks didn't lose any temp in the increasing rain on the straight
- the circuit doesn't seem to have any drainage from all that sudden standing water oO - is that something time compression related or is it basically nothing or floods?
- so much for raining on parts of the circuit, seems it's all or nothing?
- you seemed to be taking the dry line, has the circuit not been updated?
Some bits seem better than ACC's implementation - I can say as someone who spent ages trying to get a weather timeline for online events in ACC that I'd kill for the weather config! and a wet line that lasts more than a few laps before "the rain washes all the rubber off the track" - no Aris, it washes the marbles off - is the major point although that didn't seem to show up here, but I was really hoping for variations across the circuit & that doesn't seem to be there. ACC in light rain is a much bigger challenge than full rain, I'd like to see how iRacing is like there - that point where it's still raining & there's a definitely wet surface so it's no good for slicks ( especially given they'll be stone cold, ahem ) but your wets are overheating & rapidly wearing.
Life is about having nice and special experiences. If you haven't experienced driving an IRacing car, perhaps you should not miss that.
Looks okay. I was hoping they would have overhauled the graphics more by now. I know sim racing isn't about just graphics but it is about immersion and these just look so dated they take me out of it. For the amount of money you pay to use iracing these graphics haven't changed much since it launched.. disappointing. .
The feeling is quite realistic, but not dark enough. And you see the puddles better than irl. But I liked my first lap tonight on the heavy rain Nordschleife.
My god this game looks terrible - but thats the thing with games, look is secondary - game play first!!!
Id love to see you in the IRX sessions again! And maybe even get you into the NASA RX league! We got some fast guys that I'm sure would love to race against you!
Heeeeyy Jimmy just a question, have you been losing weight lately or getting more fit? You look better and more fit the last couple of vids
0:39 bro not heard of rF2, AMS2 or modded AC?
Project cars 2 got some nice rain effects as I remember it was a bit scary when I noticed in front a big puddle for the whole wide of track and knew that something gonna happen 😅
Am i stupid (as a completely new sim driver) for choosing the Nordschleife as my track that i pratcice on?
I'll be the only one who doesn't find anything special, I just see a gray road with some puddles of water, go watch a gameplay of project cars 2 in the rain to see what a wet track looks like
The only thing missing is honestly the partial weather you mentioned, where on some parts of the track the rain is heavy and on others there is non at all
Love ya Jimmy! But MOZA is absolutely putrid
I know this is more about iracing but modded AC with rain also gives similar feeling of dread. On nord, theres alot of puddles on each side of the track and some are fine to run over but most will take you out that its better to avoid them all.
Dude, I'm downloading iRacing right fucking now!
Extremely disappointed with the lack of base vehicles able to use in the wet..
I really neeed to get myself a racing wheel, this looks hella fun.
Looks great but the visual transition of the track is much better with live track 3.0
Can't wait for the videos of you driving stuff like this with actual other people.
i feel like the visual clearance of the track between part that very wet (puddle) vs not very wet in this game are the best compare to other racing game.
Love the AI behavior and also the additional wet race line
Imagine selling the ideia that IRacing is terrifying! This ain't real. There's no risk!
Real spray is also blown upwards and does not behave like a water cape behind the car and simply falls to the ground at the same distance 🤨
Does it just put rain tires on automatically if you pit in rain? Or do you have to specify this somewhere?
Looks like if you have good car control this is a blast that’s me screwed then 😂
cant wait to see jimmer race in VR with rain ! spray looks incredible
1.25x speed you guys are nimble as fook.
2017 NBR 24 hours reenactment.
I have fun in the rain there, although the 3 trees section is where im always slow because i gets scared to push through there
I really want to see you do an online race with transitioning weather, it would be interesting watching how real players decide to deal with it
Looks Awesome, wish I could login 😂
interesting to see if you can set half of the circuit have heavy rain and other half is completely dry and sunny
U could of used AC or Gt7.... Just saying
Now they should add live weather like flight simulator
holy cr...p.. more iracing rain content pls? :) :) :)
i’m interested to see if when the track has 0% usage it’s got the same grip on and off the racing line
are u kidding ? this looks worst than rf2 2012 rain.
If you want to showcase dry to wet, why choose a car with ABS and TC?
FYI your brakes are dragging slightly
I would like to see a race in the wet with all the content creators, it would be chaotically epic
Idk why, but i found it easier to drive on the nurburgring wet then dry.
jimmy knew to be offline and now he has a tire. got to search for water in dry areas now
TK said go offline in the turns to get away from the oil and grease in the line.
That looks good ,ties in with my experience that slicks don't lose grip until they lose temperature, and that usually happens after a straight. As long as there are corners and light rain, tyres generate heat, which dries the track, so the car behind can generate heat, then there is a straight, and at the end of it the rain has cooled tyres, so you have no grip, and cannot dry the circuit, and then you need wet tyres, you never recover from that.
However visibility is often worse than in iRacing. The spray landing on the windscreen seems minimal, but is real life can be torrential - think more like hosepipe hosepipe on the glass.
Cant believe you survived at the end there, swore you were done lmao
I’m glad they took this long to get it this good before releasing it
I dont have iracing to try , but this looks brillant
LMU/rF2 got range and non-transparent cars in pits ;)
british lad enjoys his national weather in germany
Hi Jimmy, I hope you're doing well today. I have been enjoying the Nordschleife lap series and I've got a suggestion. Why not try lapping in the infamous Mercedes-Benz CLR from the 1999 Le Mans race.
Welcome to Seattle driving, nice job.
I really need to play in the rain more. I usually play ACC, and I’ve never played in rain for some reason. I’ve seen the rain in videos and it is insane how much visibility is missing.
Night racing in a thunderstorm at Spa is one hell of an experience in ACC
@@taddersauce3672 When I get home from vacation I’m going to do that, but I’m going to pull down the blinds for maximum immersion
