I love Giles's expression when Buffy says "and it'll choke on me." He knows she's not going to give up no matter how hard it is. I've always loved their father/daughter relationship.
I love that he also played it ever so sinister as well, like he was sizing Buffy up. Remember at this point the audience didn’t know whether Giles survived the Bringer’s attack in him in London and it could possibly be The First masquerading as him. Anthony did a great job of layering it and not telegraphing either way whether he’s The First or not.
This is how to write a female hero. Even at that point there was no way to win. But She was ready to face the end and make the hellmouth choke on her. God dammit.

The writing and acting in this show was so stunning that the fact the SFX were a bit shaky even for the time could be completely ignored. Compare to now, when all the SFX are beautiful, and the writing and acting is deplorable even on billion-dollar shows.

She has superhuman durability and accelerated healing, but in the fight in this episode she was beta by something more savage than Glory
