I love Giles's expression when Buffy says "and it'll choke on me." He knows she's not going to give up no matter how hard it is. I've always loved their father/daughter relationship.
Yeah the writers of buffy were smart to make buffy's biological father a deadbeat so Giles can be the surrogate father to her

Same. Giles wasn’t always the dad she wanted, but he was the dad she deserved ❤️.
I love that he also played it ever so sinister as well, like he was sizing Buffy up. Remember at this point the audience didn’t know whether Giles survived the Bringer’s attack in him in London and it could possibly be The First masquerading as him. Anthony did a great job of layering it and not telegraphing either way whether he’s The First or not.
This is how to write a female hero. Even at that point there was no way to win. But She was ready to face the end and make the hellmouth choke on her. God dammit.

She died. Twice. It just pissed her off more.
I used this speech as my monologue for an acting audition and ended up getting a lead role. The emotion behind it is so powerful, Sarah did such an amazing job executing it 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Good on you. I wish I had stuck with acting and theatre. A reviewer for the more local paper liked myself and one other person in a production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”. So if have done that; and continue to do that? Good on you and please keep going.

This speech always gave me goosebumps. When she says it will choke on me it was the start of her rise to confidence and strength. This speech encompasses everything about Buffy. Self doubt, vulnerability, determination, strength, power and hope. And that fight score from Christophe Beck just tops the whole scene off with another level of amazing

Even with the battle scars from the Uber vamp she still showed how incredibly strong she was! This scene was one of best throughout the seasons of Buffy!!

Out of all the TV series I've watched, this speech is the top 3. It sums up the entire plot and the reason why she is the hero

There are so many great lines in this scene, but one of my favourite things about it is the pride and respect in Giles' face - brilliant performance Anthony.
The writing on this show was simply phenomenal. The acting just sold it.
It's watching scenes like this that remind me not only why I'm a huge fan of this brilliant brilliant show but also why I think Sarah Michelle Gellar is one of the best actresses I have ever seen.She is just astonishing in this scene.
It angers me that she is so underrated she should be a way bigger star than alot of these celebrities of today ..because she was so great and scandal free thewhole time..

I watched Buffy since my childhood, 5-6 years old, the night before my Medshcool exam after 3 years of studying, and suffering…I watched this speech, and all my fears, doubts, anxiety just disappeared, I said to myself I’m gonna end this once and for all… and I did sucessfully 👌🏻

Me too! Even though I'm a 44 year old bloke. I always had a soft spot for this series, put quite simply, it was one of my all time favourite shows and inspired me, helped me through some really soul destroying times.
This scene gave me goosebumps the first time I watched it... the crazy thing is too I was training to fight a kickboxing fight around this time and I remember watching this scene and feeling incredibly inspired.

I remember when this episode first aired. My grandma had just passed away. It was hard for me, but this episode and the remainder of this final season got me through it. Buffy will always be my favorite series.

@@derekbroestler7687 No military general would ever tell the troops he/she was tired and scared though. They should have left the self-pity bit out. That's demoralizing and would NEVER be done in a real army.

Love how we first got all the despair and helpless feelings, but how she in the second half turned into pure determination. That even if she would perish in the fight she would drag the enemy with her.

I remember watching this when it aired. After everything Buffy went through and her coming back to life and all the struggles. She never faced something that almost beat her like the ubervamp did. Everyone questioned what would happen and then this speech. Even though she’s listening to everyone doubt her ability and let’s be real, a wholly fucked up body, she stands up and says I’ll die fighting. The message there is outstanding

The writing and acting in this show was so stunning that the fact the SFX were a bit shaky even for the time could be completely ignored. Compare to now, when all the SFX are beautiful, and the writing and acting is deplorable even on billion-dollar shows.

Does anyone know where the scene of First/Buffy says: "Ouch! Mommy this mortal wound... is all itchy." during the final fight. That in my opinion is the best scene in the show. Buffy fullfills this prophesy in that moment.
