    This speech didn't motivate me at all, it was cringey. Just like all of Buffy's boring speeches in season 7. She just got her ass destroyed by that vampire and then gives this empty speech with nothing to back it up. I think it totally falls flat.

    I find it funny how this is supposed to empower women when literally the 'power' these 'women' get is by unfair advantages, just like Anja said to Buffy 'you're not better than the resat, you're just lucky you were chosen'. The scene where all these young girls get the slayer strength and only then get too defeat their opponents (in an unfair way btw) is supposed to empower girls? It just shows them they have to have an unfair advantage or else they would fail. I love Buffy, but towards the end when they pulled the feminist crap in it, it was stupid.

      How did you watch several seasons of this show and learned…nothing. She had key speeches against men exerting power over women who they fundamentally deemed expendable. The concept of the slayers. The councils treatment of her and all previous slayers. Terra’s family. Hello??? Lmfao pitiful.

    Love how we first got all the despair and helpless feelings, but how she in the second half turned into pure determination. That even if she would perish in the fight she would drag the enemy with her.

    I remember watching this when it aired. After everything Buffy went through and her coming back to life and all the struggles. She never faced something that almost beat her like the ubervamp did. Everyone questioned what would happen and then this speech. Even though she’s listening to everyone doubt her ability and let’s be real, a wholly fucked up body, she stands up and says I’ll die fighting. The message there is outstanding

    Some misguided souls take her tack to mean an endorsement of preemptive slaughter. Nothing could be further from the truth. When she says those violent things, for those of us who are not Buffy, we are supposed to understand that doing the right thing - good deeds, charity, defiant kindness - is what she's really advocating and encouraging... Salaam alaykum.❤❤❤

    I think in alot of ways the therapist is wrong teenagers need to find their own ways and make decisions without adults cause being teen means having a sense of identity outside of ur parents and family units while forming bonds outside of family and having a identing without them or elders and knowing how to do that. Adults who let there parents have a major or big day in there's decisions are just weak and being teenage is figuring out ur identity without that so ur world is bigger and more exciting ur life does not just revolve ur family that mentality is selfish and interferes with friends who can be better or just as good or lovers

The writing and acting in this show was so stunning that the fact the SFX were a bit shaky even for the time could be completely ignored. Compare to now, when all the SFX are beautiful, and the writing and acting is deplorable even on billion-dollar shows.

    I don't understand how anybody can like this. This was the cheesiest, corniest, shallowest and ultimately lamest "speech" ever portrayed on television... Not to mention that it was this BS "We're an army and I'm the commander of the army" attitude that got Buffy kicked out of her home. Something that the producers chose to turn into a situation that portrayed Buffy as the one being the "victim" of unjust treatment by her friends...

    • @cmm5542
      @cmm5542 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad I'm not the only one. I didn't find it cheesy so much as annoyingly self-pitying. I liked so many things about Buffy, and kept hoping she'd grow out of that, but even in her 'inspirational' speech she has to go and remind us how tired and miserable she is from being an empowered hero. Why did the writers have to drag that in every time? That wouldn't motivate me. If my leader can't check her emotional baggage at the door, how do the rest of us have a chance?

    • @JDA2185
      @JDA2185 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cmm5542 Precisely. This wasn't a "motivational speech" or let alone a "great military leader" speech which at one point she started thinking she was... This was a pathetic, bratty, self-entitled lecture given by someone who learned almost nothing from anything that she's been though. And how could she? Remember the episode "When she was bad" when at the end she didn't even have to apologize for her shitty attitude..? THAT'S how you get self-entitled narcissists. As for the producers, yeah, it's amazing how they could pas that bratty, self-entitled speech as a "great leader motivational speech"... Man, Buffy's attitude on that instance was pretty much way up there with admiral Holdo's...

    • @cmm5542
      @cmm5542 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JDA2185 Yes, that was one of the two things that bothered me about the show recurrently (the other was that there was no balance between happiness and misery. All the 'real life' parallels were parallels to the bad experiences; we never saw good life experiences working out for the gang even when they defeated the season's 'big bad'!), that Buffy was never expected to apologize. When I mention that, people say, 'Come on, look at all she was going through! Can't she be flawed? Look at what the others were doing!' Right, absolutely I like a flawed human hero, but the others always had to apologize for their mistakes and/or suffer the consequences. If the same had been expected of Buffy, I would have found the show a lot more inspirational than I did. Leaders need to be MORE ready to apologize for their mistakes than anyone; I've learned that as a teacher. You can only expect to keep your students' respect and be able to help them if you can admit when you mess up too. Buffy reminded me of some of my fellow teachers who are NOT so good at that, even though, like Buffy again, they are good at what they do.

    • @JDA2185
      @JDA2185 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cmm5542 Yeah. Look, the show is very good, it's VERY WELL made. From every point of view. But this element that they infused it with where they present the weakest and most despicable character traits like insecurity, self-entitlement, lack of ability to empathize as some sort of moral virtues for a woman is what bring it down. That element is there and the producers put it there intentionally. And there is a very big reason for that, it has to do with Hollywood being just a tool of psychological war to implement a social and political. However, this show, unlike what the "woke" TV shows and movies that we see today was actually well-made. Today, not only these "woke" concepts are pushed more openly and forcefully than ever in these movie and TV productions but the production themselves SUCK. They are VERY poorly made. And the only thing they have to do about it is call anyone names like "racist, homophobe, misogynist" if they dare to say they don't like them. Buffy had this "woke" element too BUT unlike today's "woke" productions it was 1: well made and 2: those "woke" concepts were nowhere nearly as hard pushed as in today's TV shows like Batwoman for instance.
