That was very interesting. My grandfather had a tractor very similar to that one. Clever brake design. It had a rocker type lift forward of the driver controls like my old 64 Cub Lowboy. It would be fascinating to see one of those type lifts rebuilt.

Just a tip when stretching and installing springs...Take your new spring and mount it in a bench vice vertically....take a philips head screw driver and insert it down the top of the spring...rock or bend the spring back and forth and as the coils open up insert a small flat washer...do this back and forth inserting a flat washer on each side of the spring and work your way up the spring...the washers will cause the spring to lengthen..remove the spring from the vice with the washers installed, in its now expanded length and install....then remove the flat washers one at a time with pliers till all washers are removed and the spring in now installed and tight...

I watch your videos all the time and I find them really helpful. You and your Dad have shown me step by step, how to do things. I have a Massey Ferguson 135 Petrol Tractor, is it possible to fit a foot accelerator above the brake?
The tool you stated was a transfer punch actually looked like a roll pin punch? Not sure it would matter but I don't know if a transfer punch, which normally has a very sharp point, would work for rolling the rivet over. A roll pin punch would roll the rivet very well however. Just an observation. I really enjoy your videos.
You need to do a video on the clutch adjustment for some reason my 51vac has a sticky clutch disc drives fine but grinds alot with the clutch in at a dead stop trying to get in gear and half to use the brake to pop it luse to stop or pop it out of gear
I keep hoping you will do an axle seal for a 69 Case Road King backhoe. It has several issues but the big one is the leaky rear axle seal. For now it runs like a top and does everything I ask…but that’s what tractors do best!
Thanks Dan and Rachel for all your wonderful videos. They have been very helpful. My son and I just completed an engine rebuild on a 1949 8N. We also replaced the starter, clutch, and all ignition parts. We have started it 3 times for about 5 seconds each time but we still aren't getting any oil pressure. Do we need to let it run a little longer?? I don't want to burn up a brand new engine. I did pump 1 quart of oil in where the oil pressure fitting is on the right rear side of the block and also pumped some 90 wt. Oil in the oil pressure regulator opening. Then we started it again for 5 seconds, still no pressure. Any suggestions??? Thank you two very much!!
I'm no expert on this engine in particular, but I'd try taking the line to the pressure gauge off, then roll the engine over with the starter to see if you get any oil pumped out of the regulator opening. If you get oil coming out it would tell you that the pump is working to circulate oil in the engine. It may be that your gauge is kaput so it isn't showing any pressure even when there is some. Also, did you put your oil filter in dry? It would take a few seconds to prime the filter before oil starts circulating through the engine. If you did put the filter in dry you can take it off to see if the pump has gotten any oil to that point in the short time you have run the engine. Looking at Google I found there is an oil pump priming procedure that may be required. @@schafn the oil pressure gauge worked fine before. I have ordered an oil pressure prelude pot to lube up all the internals. I am going to fill up the oil filter housing and pump in some LUCAS in the oil pressure regulator opening. It seems heavier than the 90 wt. Normally the engine is a little chattery until the oil starts flowing and within about 5 seconds it quiets down, I'm not getting that yet. I will certainly let you know what happens on our next attempt. Thank you very much for the suggestions!!! PS. We did put the oil filter in dry.
The title was misleading. It states Axle Seals and should be brake seals or brake shaft seals. To me, Axle seals would be the axles connected to the main rear wheels. Those seals leak and a video showing how to replace them would be great.

When I worked for a farmer as a hired hand 40 yeats ago, there two main tractors were both made by Case: a DC and a SC.
