Do you see how in the first couple minutes she was able to recommend products that ranged from $8 to literally $69…. This is why I watch you. You make recommendations that can truly fit ANYONES budget. So thanks. Not many influencers will do this and it’s so appreciated. Currently using and loving the L’Oréal bond repair line because of you.
Yesss!! 🌼 Same!! L’Oreal Bond Repair Line! And I use the pre-shampoo AFTER shampooing because of Abbey! I mix it up with Olaplex, but it takes longer for me using No. 3 cuz I always wash before using & after! I use Elizavecca too… knew of it before her, but her stamp of approval got me really using it! Lol! Use Redken’s bond repair sometimes too because of her… so many things, even skincare, like DRMTLGY Needle Less Serum, their SPF. Face washes. I can go on. Lol! I hope she'll review the new Garnier Fructis Hair Filler bond repair line. I’m curious about it! The Not Your Mother's Tough Love bond repair too! I’ve seen it in maybe a short, bur wanna know more! SheaMoisture’s too! Have you tried any?? And I agree Abby is awesome with recommendations for all budgets!
*In Conclusion:* _Tip 1:_ 3:29 *Wring out* excess water after rinsing off shampoo. Get rid of any water before applying any conditioning products. _Tip 2:_ 3:53 *Divide* your hair into sections before applying your conditioner or hair mask. For fine/medium hair, divide into two sections; for thicker hair, divide into four sections. This ensures the conditioner thoroughly covers all strands of hair. _Tip 3:_ 5:24 *Emulsify* the conditioner or hair mask in your hands before applying. _Tip 4:_ 5:29 *Spread* the conditioner or hair mask from the top to the bottom of your hair. As you are applying the product, work your way down the hair and when you no longer feel any product in your hands, apply some more to your hands and keep going. This usually happens half way down the hair. _Tip 5:_ 6:26 Do one *final check* if your hair to see if any hair was skipped over and wasn’t coated properly. If you find any areas that are not smooth and silky, apply some product to that area. _Tip 6:_ 7:01 Let the product *sit in your hair.* If you are using a hair mask, let that sit in your hair for 10 minutes. (Do all the other shower things whilst waiting) Gently clip your hair up with a claw clip if you have long hair. If you are using a conditioner, you only need to wait 3-4 minutes. Hope this helps! Have a lovely day. ❤❤
Thank you for this!! A video I’d really appreciate is covering how to look after fine hair. I’ve found that it’s really hard to find a balance between using products that reduce frizz, make my hair soft, and increase shine, versus avoiding products because they weigh my hair down and make it look greasy - it really feels like a lose-lose whatever I do 😭
You might try using 2 conditioners that's what i do. My hair is super fine but i have a very very dry scalp so even my roots need some conditioning, so i use something super light on my roots and something heavier and creamier on my mids and ends. Basically just gather my hair into a low ponytail and anything that makes it there gets the heavier conditioner, all the shorter layers get something lighter
It's a bit diff for curly hair. Curly hair needs water for curls to form so once mask is in, work water into it until you get a nice fluffy marshmallow texture. Makes all the difference!
Really? I've never heard that or tried that before... but I only have super wavy hair, always told I have "beach" hair/ beach curls. I will have to give this a go next wash. Thanks!
What she’s talking about is called ‘squish to condish’ in the curly world. I’ve wondered about Abbey’s thoughts on this since she likes to wring out extra water before conditioning as well as says hair is the most fragile when it’s wet and curly/wavy girls are adding more water.
Squish to condish is definitely what works for my wavy hair, otherwise it doesn't feel like the conditioner are penetrating or even coating. I discovered it accidentally when I noticed it just worked better with some water vs not, I didn't even know it was an actual technique until years later lol
@@sarahalderman3126 Yes, really! I have curly hair, one of my daughters has wavy hair and the other one straight hair. All of us squish to condish. You can even use the bowl methode to bring the ultimate hydration to your hair. The job of your conditioner is to lock moisture in your hair and it can only do it´s job, if there is enough moisture - so never wring out the water if you have dry or split prone hair.
Thanks for recommending the L'Oreal EverPure bond repair line, I bought it and it is amazing. So, I have been dealing with hair loss because of high stress levels. I know you don´t talk much about hair loss, but I have been working towards stop this condition by changing my lifestyle: working out, eating well, quit sugar, meditation, get a puppy (haha) and all of that. Also, I am taking my collagen, keratin, and vitamins, and massaging my scalp and body, using minoxidil, dermapen, a mixture of rosmery oil, pumpkin seed oil and vitamin E, maintaining a clean scalp with a purifying shampoo. The good news is that the amount of hair I loss every day has decreased a lot, the better news is that new hairs are growing but I see they are super dry so much so it looks like I have been electrocuted and because they are growing on my forehead line it is so hard to style them and look good, so what I am doing during my shower routine is combing the hair close to my forehead line towards the front of my face and try to apply the smallest amount of bond repair conditioner to those hairs trying no to touch the scalp, and it has helped a lot; however I know some product must go to my scalp It is worth it because the new hairs look much healthier, silky and soft, and I have to wash my oily scalp frequently anyways.
I started following your advice and my hair is doing sooo much better! I used to strictly use 'natural' shamps and conditioners. My hair never looked worse. It was dried, splitting and tangly. Ty!
Tight curly (type 4 if you use that system). Since I need conditioner to detangle, I use a less expensive conditioner right after shampoo to detangle (loving the La’dor acid conditioner for a K-beauty option) then rinse apply my mask and use a heat cap for 30 minutes out of the shower. If I’m using K18, I’ll apply right after shampoo, wait the 4 minutes then apply my detangling conditioner.
I learned a trick from the hair mask I use. KENRA suggests using a shower cap with aluminum to trap heat and allow the product to work better. This opens the cuticle which allows the product to have better absorption, and it is especially beneficial for low porosity hair. I also do this with my regular conditioner and I have seen a big difference with my hair being a little les oily, and being better conditioned (moisturized).
@elin_ there are ingredients that coat the hair while others penetrate the hair the hair. Glycerin and panthenol are some ingredients that penetrate the hairs haft.
Yup! Only I am not entirely convinced that the shower cap itself, not the aluminum, is what makes the difference. I have used all kinds of shower caps, including aluminum lined one's, silk ones, plastic... etc and all seem to work about the same. Currently using a silk lined plastic wrap cap now which is pretty great. Either way I do think you are correct about the heat retention being a big plus ❤
@@sarahalderman3126 Aluminum shower caps trap heat due to the insulating properties of aluminum. This metal is a poor conductor of heat, which means it slows down the transfer of heat from your head to the surrounding environment. This trapped heat can be beneficial for certain hair treatments, such as deep conditioning, as it can help the hair absorb the conditioner more effectively. Compared to traditional shower caps made from materials like plastic or fabric, aluminum shower caps are more effective at trapping heat. This is because plastic and fabric are typically better conductors of heat than aluminum.
Followed almost all of your tips. My hair grew 6 inches in 9 months. I just started oiling before washing and my hair does not frizz or get dry like it used to! I use the L"oreal bond repair every wash day. It is truly a miraculous products. I watch my hair transform from frizz ball to ringlets in 10 minutes!!!!😊
Thank you so so much for mentioning the double step hair mask and conditioner issue 🙌🏻 lately some influencers said you have to use hair mask and conditioner after but since I own conditioners that act exactly like hair masks, it was too much for my hair and it became heavy overtime rather than softer! I feel like this only applies if the conditioner is really light and not so moisturizing so you can use it after a hair mask but I don't see the point to purchase a conditioner like that, it needs to be light but it has to hydrate your hair! But people are giving false information like "hair mask opens the cuticles and conditioner closes them" wtf?! Hair mask is designed to deeply condition your hair so logically it has an acid PH meant to close the cuticles, if anything hair mask works better than many conditioners when it comes to sealing the scales of the hair, companies claim those bs theories so you'll buy both the hair mask and conditioner, but people are spreading this false information on social media a lot lately, so thank you for addressing it ❤
I'm African-American with a relaxer. I use a hair mask/ conditioner on my roots. That's where the relaxer is applied every few months, and it helps me prevent breakage when it grows out. I try not to get it on my scalp, but it may get on there, and I haven't had any issues.
Conditioner clogs the follicles which prevents your natural oils from coming out, leading to dryness over time. This is true regardless of your race, curl pattern, or hair practises.
Fellow tight curly and the reduction in combing force provided by conditioning matters more to me than spending a few extra minutes rinsing any product that may have gotten on my scalp during the process.
After I put mask or conditioner on my hair I put on a cheap shower cap to let it work. It prevents the mask from getting diluted or rinsed out before it should.
I had an itchy scalp for so long, we're talking 3 years minimum. Tried MANY products to ease the problem. Recently, I decided to bite the bullet and try the expensive$$$ Oribe Gold Lust. For me, this has been a savior. I no longer find myself scratching. While I can't feel my hair (neuropathy in my hands), visually it looks silkier and shiner and I am happy and comfortable.
I really have to say it because otherwise I feel like exploding. You’re such an intelligent and humble beauty and seeing many of your videos I think very highly of your expertise. Opinions are never shared without being enough informed and thoroughly tested and it shows so much. I have already purchased a couple of things you recommended and they’ve always been promising! Thank you so much abbey, your are one in a million in this TH-cam universe.
I'm on your team with the 10min mask coming first. I like to start with the most difficult thing so I don't have to think about it anymore. Added bonus, your tasks now technically get easier and easier
@@CC-iv7ujdepending on your hair type, sometimes doing deep conditioning treatments can also be good before shampooing! I have fine hair that gets weighed down easily by heavy products, but I still want the benefits of deep conditioning. I’ve used shampoo after those treatments and my hair still felt great without being weighed down!
Have you tried Sebastian Potion 9? It’s an oldie but goodie (around since 1990), that people seem to forget about. It’s an oil-in-cream-gel form, you only need a small amount, and it’s both a leave-in and styling product. It’d be great to see you try & review yet.
Thank you Abbey!! I’m getting married this November and in December of 2022 I had bleached most of my hair. It’s still recovering all this time later, but after taking up your tips I’ve seen more improvement in 3 months than I’ve seen in like half a year. I’m ready for this bleach damage to be gone! And man, have your tips kickstarted that!!! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart :)
Great information! I battle frizz like crazy. I have tried everything out there and still struggle with frizz. Thank you for all the recommendations. Greatly appreciate your channel! I have incorporated many of your suggestions.
The L’Oréal elvive total repair 5 damage erasing balm mask and the native almond & shea butter mask are my two fav drugstore masks. I’ve used the L’Oréal one for YEARS and the native one makes my hair so extremely soft!
I get a dry scalp in winter and the Curlsmith Hydro Crème Soothing Hair Mask has been a game changer! I’ll put that on my scalp and then a different mask or conditioner on the lengths and ends (sometimes the ends get a different one too… yes, I’ll use 3 different ones on a single wash day)! Also, the Curlsmith conditioners are like super concentrated so they somehow work best when your hair is dripping wet… it’s the craziest thing but daaaang they work on my thick, coarse, frizzy hair!
EVA NYC (Amazon) has some great deep conditioners. I use the one in pink that looks similar to the Amika one she showed (on consistency). It smells fantastic. It moisturizers your hair quite well. I have dry hair that was bleached and it became part of the process I’m using to get it healthier looking. I only to cut two inches instead of 6 when I used it in conjunction with the Loteal Bond Repair system. I had to work with and apply every other day (with the same Oils she recommends). I’ve since found the new Garnier System is a bit better for my hair. I use the bonding step, the moisturizing hair and shampoo, the moisturizer and bond serums mixed together and the bond gel as well now. So the whole system. On days I don’t use the bond repair I use the mask. Sometimes, when very dry and not looking great…I use them all. I do have less volume (fine, thin hair). EVA NYC may be a dupe for something (or somethings). I’ve heard different product from Olaplex, K-18, and Amika. Either way, it’s a great product. So is the Pantene leave in spray.
I don’t stay in my shower long enough. I dry off and put my hair up in a shower cap and walk around in it and then go back and use the shower head to rinse. It’s annoying but you waste less water.
Love you, Abbey!💗 Am I the only one who literally gets OUT of the shower after shampooing to apply their hair mask in front of the mirror to ensure that every strand is coated? 😂 I literally: -Shampoo x2 -Get out of the shower -(k18 would go here on K18 days) Or -(non k18 day) apply hair mask THOROUGHLY -put hair in a shower cap -Go back in the shower for “other shower things” while the mask processes -Remove shower cap and rinse out mask -Use a follow up conditioner 😅 Maybe this is why my hair wash day can take up to 3 hours 😂 but I deal with serious hair loss due to chronic illness/medical conditions,… so I am SUPER careful with the hair I have left!!!! 🙏🏻♥️♥️♥️🙏🏻
Thank you! I’d love to see you try a bar shampoo and conditioner. I bought one and was pleasantly surprised. If I had short hair I’d consider it as a regular thing but it is trickier on long hair to get it evenly dispersed. I think they are an especially great option for men, or for the gym because you don’t worry about stuff spilling.
I have fine to medium thickness hair that has high porosity toward the ends like a lot of people who have colored or heat styled for some time. I have a wave to my hair naturally that as I get older has become more evident. With all your hair knowledge and how much I trust your opinions. It would be great if you could suggest a hair care routine to encourage the wavy texture for people that are transitioning from straight hair to wavy curly hair 😉 ❤
It depends on the function of the hair mask, some are just moisturizing and conditioning, but some are very specific repair masks which you do use separately from conditioner because they don't have the same conditioning effect.
A tip for the person who asked about using regular conditioner as a leave-in: a few times I didn’t have leave-in on hand because I was hiking or I forgot to bring it etc, in those situations I used conditioner as normal rinsing it off and then I applied the tiniest bit of the same conditioner out of the shower to act as a leave-in. I hope it makes sense
As someone with fine hair I'm often tempted to skip rinse out conditioner and go straight for leave in conditioner. If I do this I'll make sure to use a bond builder after my shampoo and go from there.
Please make a My Favorite Beauty Hacks video. We all have little things we’ve tweaked or used in different ways to get more out of our routines. I bet you have lots! Also, thank you for your transparency and specificity when discussing products and routines. I know firsthand from inside the industry how dishonest most of the professionals are when it comes to marketing. Yes, most of them are just saying whatever they need to say to shift product and chase the fantasy of going viral. I left in disgust after decades and for a long time the whole trauma of seeing this open lack of humanity in action took the fun out of beauty for me. Having worked with many influencers, you have amazed me with how you deliver for followers and stand up for us when brands want you to read from an untruthful script. I wish there were more creators out there like you. The pudding: I did a deep drive on your channel a couple of weeks ago. I immediately started accumulating some of your favorites: OGX Coconut Oil Serum for pre-wash, Pantene Volume & Body Shampoo, Dove Intensive Repair Duo, Elizavecca Mask, Color Wow x Chris Appleton Money Mask, Amika Detangler, EverPure 21-in-1, Elvive Glycolic Gloss (I bought the whole routine and am waiting for it too arrive from the UK), L’Oréal Dream Lengths shampoo and conditioner, and many more that are escaping me now. I also started implementing my own version of your routine and my hair is so much easier to manage and looks and feels so much softer and more beautiful. I was preparing to get a major chop of about 14 inches just to start over, but you’ve made me love my hair again! Finally, please repeat more often this tip that I only heard you give yesterday when I was down another rabbit hole of your videos: Don’t style your hair the same all the time. I’ve been in a major high pony phase for the past few years, which probably hasn’t helped with my fine hair and noticeable scalp visibility. That seems like such a hugely important tip that I hope you speak more about it in future videos. The devil is in the details and I’m afraid to miss out on any of your tips!
@@AbbeyYung I tried not to be dramatic about how bad things are in the beauty industry, and hasten to add that there ARE many great products, of course. Those make it to market despite all the internal politics at giant corporations and many indie brands alike. Not all “indies” are scrappy, founder-driven brands guided by any ideals. Any brand that doesn’t include lots of information about the founders - be it American, Korean or any origin - should be viewed with an especially critical eye. We need more founders like Josh Rosebrook, Trinny and May Lindstrom. (I don’t know about current indie haircare founders yet since you’re my sole source of knowledge at this point in my haircare adventure.) Thank you again and please consider doing a compilation of your favorite beauty hacks! Maybe you can solicit your audience’s own novel practices and share some of the good, bad, and hilarious. P.S. Just trying Nette’s Thé Vanille. Vanilla scents can often smell too cloying and 1980s Vanilla Fields to me, but this is a lovely, nuanced fragrance. Unfortunately it fades completely within an hour.
Yeah they are both great... though tbf they both are just pushing different brands that are paying them to do so. Marketing 101. So we're all essentially watching those paid infomercials from the 80's and 90's.😂
@@sarahalderman3126 ..yea I know they are, especially blow out prof..hes doing it without u even knowing it..he pushes redkens volume hard..🤣🤣..but there ideas n videos have made my hair 100 times better..the 80s n 90s, what great times..
I used to watch the blowout Professor but all of his videos are the same. It’s always redken volume and pureology color fanatic. I used his “trilogy” for over a year and didn’t see as good of results as the drugstore products that Abbey recommends. I’m not a huge fan that he is so anti drugstore either.
@@kerriann81 ..so right..he pushes the crap out of redkens n pureology..i never used either, I use biolage full density..n it's a 10 leave in n Argan oil for my ends, works so well for my hair..i like drug store brands..
I hope you also go over the order of post shower products! I wonder whether it is more effective to apply heat protectant before or after leave-in conditioner/ styling product.
I’m Glad you have cleared this up because some conditioners I use are better than my masks I like to go in with a repair mask followed by strength cure or oribe conditioner. But I’m happy I can now use my conditioner as a mask & leave it on longer x
Abbey could you make a video about curly hair if possible? I have fine high density curly hair and its a nightmare lol, I'm sure I'm not the only person that would appreciate a curly hair video.
When I apply a hair mask I will shampoo my hair use Olaplex 3 for an hour rinse shampoo again then I’ll wrap my hair up in a microfiber towel then I’ll sit in a mirror and apply my hair mask in sections starting from the back and working all the way to the front. Then I will leave that on between 30-45 min. Then rinse and use strength cure conditioner etc. and I get good results this way I also do a k18 day once a month too I have naturally fine coarse wavy hair and it can handle thick masks like Amika the Kure etc. I recently color stripped my hair and I’m trying to nurse my hair back to health! I also love to use a leave in conditioner and a leave in cream wether that would be living proof triple bond complex etc. x
A lot of people say you shouldn’t comb your hair if it is wet, but I am someone who LOADS conditioner on my hair because it’s really long, thick, and dry, so I use a wide toothed comb, a gentle hand, and work combing from the bottom up after applying conditioner and before clipping it up to ensure my hair is evenly coated and remove any excess product/ redistribute it
does wringing out the excess water apply to kinky/coily hair as well ? i usually detangle with conditioner which requires a lot of water. is the conditioner sliding off the only reason for wringing out the excess water or could the excess water interfere with product absorption as well? bcuz i’ve never had the issue with the conditioner sliding off, i’ve noticed with curly & coily hair the opposite is the case and water helps with distribution. i’ve recently started experimenting with wringing out the excess water first then applying the conditioner/hair mask, letting it sit THEN adding more water to detangle. do you think there are any benefits to doing it this way instead ?
I detangle with a less expensive conditioner then rinse, wring out any extra water then apply my mask/deep conditioner. I like to detangle with a conditioner with lots of slip and my favorite masks generally have less slip. It’s been working for me if you don’t mind using an additional product.
@@laurendaniels7528 i’ve noticed masks have less slip too. so something i’ll wring out the water and let the mask sit then add some regular conditioner while detangling. thanks for the feedback!
You mentioned using a conditioner when you use k18. I thought the k18 leave in repair mask is to be used after you get it if the shower on towel dried hair and on those days it says not to use conditioner. You made it seem like you use it in the shower then do conditioner. Thanks.
She does towel dry before using K18. Leaves it on for 4 minutes, then uses a conditioner or mask. You can condition after the 4 minutes is up, or not. It’s up to you.
Since watching your vids I have used more hair masks and more conditioner. It has literally saved my hair and I have fine bleached damaged hair. Don’t be scared to use more conditioner to get volume. You can get volume from heatless curls. 😊 thanks Abbey ur the best xo
@@sarahelizabeth1487 it has worked. It’s expensive but your hair fall is almost non existent and it feels so soft. I would though if you can have some tests done to make sure it’s not an underline issue. Hope that helps.
I'd still like to understand about Bond Repair. Why do I need it?? I use just hydrating masks but why do I need bond? My hair is Curly and I also add more curls with a curling wand so it does get damaged. Thank you, anybody :)
from my understanding, bond repair helps repair some of the damage by repairing dysulfide bonds. it can help your hair get stronger. you don't necessarily need it, but it would be helpful! i hope this helps, again this is just from my understanding. 🩷
You mention using the EverPure concentrate (and its RedKen big sibling) as a mask. Do you think this makes a significant difference, and how? I know you mention ignoring labels, I'm just curious why L'Oreal & Redken would advertise the concentrate as a pre-shampoo treatment and how it might be beneficial to actually use it as a mask like you do. Like, what qualities about it make you choose to use it as a mask? Or is the advertising kinda like how some people will put conditioner on their lengths pre-wash to protect them from the shampoo, so it doesn't *actually* matter when its applied to get the benefit? I find it a bit odd the treatment is pre-shampoo since it has the highest % of the citric acid and you'd think it should go on clean hair, but I guess maybe it's not supposed to stay in at that high % for whatever reason so they have it get rinsed out with shampoo?
I went gray 30 months ago, so my hair is drier than ever before. I start my hair washing day showers by washing my hair first and then I take my dry washcloth and gently squeeze out the water and then apply a mask or conditioner. While that's in, I can wash, shave or whatever.
Do you prefer the Loreal to the new Dove bond repair that you just said was your favorite? I wasn't sure which of the videos was made first...this one or that Instagram video you just posted.
Thank you for making EVERYBODIES hair more beautiful! I have now heard two influencers on you tube giving you credit for their hair being in better shape! Way to go!!! I just picked up Loreals Bond Strengthening Concentrate. It says it is a preshampoo. Is it best before shampooing or after shampoo and before conditioner? Or doesn't it matter?
I'm in awe that all that hair doesn't show a little shedding from the wringing and product application. I think my hair sheds a normal amount, but every wash day, I finish showering and then have to spend Idk how long pulling off shed hair stuck to my shoulders and back...(for the record, my hair isn't thinning or balding)
I have a dry scalp and very thin/fine gray hair with low lights of navy blue. I will sometimes use conditioner on my scalp. I would love recommendations on scalp products. I do not have dandruff but use hair spray daily, as my hair will not hold a style. Love your videos!! Many blessings!!!💖💖💖
I really want to hear your thoughts on virtue! Its price point is the same as Oribe so I’m curious how you’d find it in comparison! They also have a bond treatment similar to living proof, so I’m curious to hear your thoughts before I buy one or the other!
I love your deep dive videos, be it hair care, skin care, make-up or other topics. I know this is a hair care video, but I have to ask, what products do you have on your lips in the video??? I love the colour and the sort of blurred effect on the edges of your lips. I would love to know what you are using and how 🥰
Thank you Abbey - question - can you use a hair mask on a K18 day but skip conditioner? I know the instructions are to shampoo only for K18 to allow for the product to have the best penetration. But I always feel like my hair is never conditioned enough and so I don’t use my K18 regularly. Any suggestions?
I have the impression that brands have stopped writing on their bottles how long to leave a conditioner on. At least drug store... Maybe I'm wrong. But now I usually only ready "spread evenly and rinse thoroughly". Would that mean that the conditioner doesn't need to be left on for longer than a few seconds at all? Really wondering... Would safe quite a bit of time :D
i love your contents!! the way you're making a video to fully explain your conditioning routine since your haircare routine video you did to answer our questions and so that you can explain things further so WE understand better 🫶🏽 you're the best! ♥️
OK, what I need is a serious go to recommendation for affordable and effective detangling conditioner or styling product when my hair is tangled, that DOESNT weigh my hair down! I love Loreal’s Bond Repair conditioner and the frizz defying one but when your hair is long, you only get a few uses of it for the size.Bonus points if the fragrance isn’t so strong, it triggers migraines every time I use it. God, I cannot believe how intense and strong some of the hair products fragrances are. It’s just insane how overused fragrances are in hair products . It drives me nuts, purely nuts, nuts nuts, nuts!! OK unless it’s a coconut fragrance, then I’m OK with it😂. Yeah, and I’ve tried all three of the OGX coconut hair serums, and they all leave my hair greasy. Trader Joe’s hair serum is my gold standard. I can’t get enough of that product. I use it constantly have for years and years, but would like a hair conditioner that works like L’Oreal frizz defy, but in a bigger size.
Abbey, what are your thoughts about spreading the conditioner or mask with a wet brush or wide-toothed comb. I would think this would be a good way of ensuring the conditioner reaches all your hair strands.
Dollar general has a hair line called root to end and they have a $5 hair mask. Idk if it’s technically good with Ingredients, but it makes my hair soft and smells really good!
I have literally bought most of the hair product you recommended and used them the way you recommend ❤ I have one question after I put the mask and conditioner can I use the wet brush to distribute it even more ? Thanks a lot
Has anyone else used Living Proof Triple Bond Complex, only to leave your hair feeling stiff and tangle prone? Albeit, it feels a little thicker and "stronger" I suppose. . . And I followed the directions to the T. But with that said, most all other products Abbey recommended have yield excellent results!
I’ve noticed this so I’m going to try using half a pump or one pump. I have thin, fine hair so that should help enough to cover it. I saw in another video of hers she said it’s probably because you’re using too much.
Abbey, would you be able to do a series on ingredients? Im in Australia and products often arent available or they are called something different. I like reading ingredient lists and would be so good to have some guidance from you ❤
Hum, I think my hair needs conditioner almost to the root, but I don’t rub it all over my scalp, my hair is never greasy, unusually it’s 4-5 days before that happens. Wash usually every 2-3 days, my hair is fine and not thick. I’m guessing every one is different, if I don’t do that it feels dry.
Years ago I used to use cocnut oil in my hair as a leave in treatment. I have tried your pre-wash OGX oil treament and love it. I am wondering if you would recommend using cocnut oil as a leave in treament?
You've recommended L'Oreal EverPure Glossing In-Shower Acidic Glaze and I love it! Thank you! You've said not to use the shine rinse on the same days we use a conditioner and mask. How do you fit something like that into your routine?
I Pat dry my hair with a towel before I condition. I have also used a mask and conditioner and just mix it together and put it in my hair and it seems to work really well.
Do you recommend putting leave in conditioner on roots/ hair closer to the scalp? Or do you get some product on the top parts of the hair while brushing your hair? I have bangs in trying to grow out and I have bleach colored hair and the ends of the bangs seem to be dry as I've only been using the leave in in mids and ends.
I‘m struggling with waiting 10-30 minutes. I get cold and bored in the shower. Getting in a morning gown and dry and then getting all wet again doesn’t feel good either. Rinsing in the sink so I don’t need a second shower isn’t comfortable. Do I miss something?
Do your hair over the bathtub instead of in shower so you can do other stuff around the house while mask in ( put plastic cap over it to stop any water dripping )
I tried only applying conditioner to the ends, but my hair gets so tangly causing more breakage and I don't seem to be able to go longer between washing if I don't do it!
Hi Abbey, your recommendations have been so beneficial to me.. Thank you so much! I use Olaplex 6 after my leave spray. Is there a good dupe to that one? It's expensive and I've actual notice the smell isn't so pleasant after styling. I believe it does help my hair because after applying it I blow dry but it would be nice to have a cheaper option and a nicer smell...😊
Abbey, would LOVE you to review Virtue Lab Hair products. Have you heard of them or tried them? They have a unique technology using alpha keratin that seems to be really effective. They have a healing oil people love, a restorative mask, recovery shampoo/conditioner for damage, styling products and various other shampoos and conditioners for volume, clarifying, etc....my hair salon uses and raves about their products and people seem to love it in the reviews too, but would love your thoughts because you could compare it to all these other products you recommend the most. Their price point is similar to some of your favorite products, so when shopping for new products in those categories, would love to know if you would recommend Virtue right up there with your other products or if you see some holes in what they're doing!
Love your vids! I would like to know how often do you use protein products and do you use them with other protein products? Eg, k18, CER-100 collagen protein coating and a protein conditioner in the same routine? Or do you only use k18 once per month? As a friend of mine used to much protein and her hair snapped off!
Of course!! It's so important to me to find amazing options for EVERYBODY no matter where they're at in life.
True! Broke ppl deserve healthy hair too!
Just purchase that line! Able to analyze hair needs better thanks to Abby!
Yesss!!

*In Conclusion:*
_Tip 1:_ 3:29 *Wring out* excess water after rinsing off shampoo.

I’ve found that it’s really hard to find a balance between using products that reduce frizz, make my hair soft, and increase shine, versus avoiding products because they weigh my hair down and make it look greasy - it really feels like a lose-lose whatever I do 😭
I have the exact same problem! 😥
I think the Blowout Professor has some videos on fine hair
Same here
I totally know what you mean! I will add this to my list of videos xx
Thanks!
Great tip!
I am so happy to hear you're seeing improvements!! And that's a great idea- applying to the hair without touching your scalp!
Will you be doing a video on the change in the L'Oreal bond repair shampoo and conditioner change???
Do you really don't know what's working cuz you did it all at once all of the other things that help with hair growth 🤭
I do the same😊
I learned a trick from the hair mask I use.
It doesn't absorb into the strand. Conditioners and hair masks lay on the outside of the hair as a shield.
@elin_ there are ingredients that coat the hair while others penetrate the hair the hair. Glycerin and panthenol are some ingredients that penetrate the hairs haft.
@@robertperez3422 the only ones that can penetrate are ingredients with very small molecular weight
Hair mask is designed to deeply condition your hair so logically it has an acid PH meant to close the cuticles, if anything hair mask works better than many conditioners when it comes to sealing the scales of the hair, companies claim those bs theories so you'll buy both the hair mask and conditioner, but people are spreading this false information on social media a lot lately, so thank you for addressing it ❤
Yes!!! Exactly. So much misinformation around this topic.
Your hair looks so much more softer and healthier now more than over the years! Whatever your doing keep doing it! And spill the tea!
Notice that it is not as light blonde as before. Cutting back on the bleach surely made the most positive impact!
Hair mask then lamellar water are a good combo too !
I’ve been on my hair healing journey for about 4 months now and thanks for sharing all your valuable experiences and information with hair products!❤

Thank you so much abbey, your are one in a million in this TH-cam universe.
Oh my gosh thank you so much ❤ This made my day!
I'm on your team with the 10min mask coming first. I like to start with the most difficult thing so I don't have to think about it anymore. Added bonus, your tasks now technically get easier and easier
Yes!!! This is my favorite approach to life in general lol
Wait what? Use your hair treatment first? Then shampoo and condition? Hmmm doesn't that just wash out the treatment you want left in your hair
@@CC-iv7ujsame question
Your channel has really helped me to level up my hair health. Thanks for doing what you do!
I love hearing this!!
Definitely try the Pantene Keratin and vitamin e and Pantene coconut and shea conditioners. Super thick and moisturizing!
I’ve used the L’Oréal one for YEARS and the native one makes my hair so extremely soft!
omg I totally forgot about the damage erasing balm. That one is great!

The Garnier system is great!!
I don’t stay in my shower long enough. I dry off and put my hair up in a shower cap and walk around in it and then go back and use the shower head to rinse. It’s annoying but you waste less water.
Love you, Abbey!💗
Am I the only one who literally gets OUT of the shower after shampooing to apply their hair mask in front of the mirror to ensure that every strand is coated? 😂
I literally:
-Shampoo x2
-Get out of the shower
-(k18 would go here on K18 days)
Or
-(non k18 day) apply hair mask THOROUGHLY
-put hair in a shower cap
-Go back in the shower for “other shower things” while the mask processes
-Remove shower cap and rinse out mask
-Use a follow up conditioner
😅
Maybe this is why my hair wash day can take up to 3 hours 😂 but I deal with serious hair loss due to chronic illness/medical conditions,… so I am SUPER careful with the hair I have left!!!! 🙏🏻♥️♥️♥️🙏🏻
Agreed! I bought the Vuori Rice Shampoo & Conditioner bars for my fine, thin hair for travel and they have been incredible for my hair!
Yes, I'd love to know if there were some good ones out there.
It would be so good to hear her thoughts on this! I've found that all bars work okay for a few weeks and then the build up gets too much
I have fine to medium thickness hair that has high porosity toward the ends like a lot of people who have colored or heat styled for some time. I have a wave to my hair naturally that as I get older has become more evident. With all your hair knowledge and how much I trust your opinions. It would be great if you could suggest a hair care routine to encourage the wavy texture for people that are transitioning from straight hair to wavy curly hair 😉 ❤
Geezy! Sorry for the novel I wrote 😅 😬
A hairmask is a stronger version of a conditioner. Its not needed to both use them at the day.
Yes it is
It depends on the function of the hair mask, some are just moisturizing and conditioning, but some are very specific repair masks which you do use separately from conditioner because they don't have the same conditioning effect.
You answered all the questions I’ve been asking Google for, but couldn’t give me any results except this video. Thank you,HAIR AND BEAUTY GODDESS
Glad u use the mask and then the conditioner bcuz many ppl don’t understand that the mask penetrates the hair while the conditioner seals in the mask
As someone with fine hair I'm often tempted to skip rinse out conditioner and go straight for leave in conditioner. If I do this I'll make sure to use a bond builder after my shampoo and go from there.
That absolutely works!
Can you please make a video about keratin/botox/and other treatments
Thank you so much for this thoughtful comment! I'm so glad my recommendations have helped and will always prioritize transparency and integrity 💗
@@AbbeyYung I tried not to be dramatic about how bad things are in the beauty industry, and hasten to add that there ARE many great products, of course. Any brand that doesn’t include lots of information about the founders - be it American, Korean or any origin - should be viewed with an especially critical eye. Glad you have cleared this up because some conditioners I use are better than my masks I like to go in with a repair mask followed by strength cure or oribe conditioner.
I also love to use a leave in conditioner and a leave in cream wether that would be living proof triple bond complex etc. x
A lot of people say you shouldn’t comb your hair if it is wet, but I am someone who LOADS conditioner on my hair because it’s really long, thick, and dry, so I use a wide toothed comb, a gentle hand, and work combing from the bottom up after applying conditioner and before clipping it up to ensure my hair is evenly coated and remove any excess product/ redistribute it
Your hair recommendations are legit.
does wringing out the excess water apply to kinky/coily hair as well ? i usually detangle with conditioner which requires a lot of water.
is the conditioner sliding off the only reason for wringing out the excess water or could the excess water interfere with product absorption as well? bcuz i’ve never had the issue with the conditioner sliding off, i’ve noticed with curly & coily hair the opposite is the case and water helps with distribution.
i’ve recently started experimenting with wringing out the excess water first then applying the conditioner/hair mask, letting it sit THEN adding more water to detangle. do you think there are any benefits to doing it this way instead ?
I've done this for years!

I don't rinse K18 and love it. Hair feels as clean as non-K18 days.

I'd still like to understand about Bond Repair. Why do I need it?? I use just hydrating masks but why do I need bond? My hair is Curly and I also add more curls with a curling wand so it does get damaged. Thank you, anybody :)

After shampoo. Wash the crud out that prevents absorption of the product.
Can you do one how you style your hair with Dyson and products and heat settings I usually use medium heat but am afraid I still break my hair
How do you curl the front of your hair? I can only find a video on how you do the back. Please share how you heat style the front.
She has a video and she just curl towards the face NOT away😊
I'm in awe that all that hair doesn't show a little shedding from the wringing and product application. I think my hair sheds a normal amount, but every wash day, I finish showering and then have to spend Idk how long pulling off shed hair stuck to my shoulders and back...(for the record, my hair isn't thinning or balding)
she honestly just has really good hair genes.
I know! It makes application of body lotion so annoying!
What do you think about Kerastase? I'd loveee to see your impressions of the premiere line.
I second this! 😊
I will add this to my list of videos to make! Thanks for watching ❤
Learned something new today. Thank you Abbey. Great job as always.
Awesome! So glad to help. Thanks for watching!
Tried the Pantene mask on your recommendation and it's SO GOOD 👌🏻
My ? would be can I use Olaplex 3 and k18 together on the same wash day? would my hair still receive the full benefit of k18?
Hi Abbey! We now need a post-shampoo leave-in-products routine, please!
Are we supposed to deep condition and then regular condition? Or does only one suffice?
i love your contents!! the way you're making a video to fully explain your conditioning routine since your haircare routine video you did to answer our questions and so that you can explain things further so WE understand better 🫶🏽 you're the best! ♥️
loved the thorough explanations, thank you!
Should we use a leave-in conditioner after every wash, regardless of what else we've used?
Dollar general has a hair line called root to end and they have a $5 hair mask. Idk if it’s technically good with Ingredients, but it makes my hair soft and smells really good!
I have literally bought most of the hair product you recommended and used them the way you recommend ❤ I have one question after I put the mask and conditioner can I use the wet brush to distribute it even more ? Thanks a lot
Do you rinse out the K18 from your hair after 4 minutes or do you just add your hair mask or conditioner on top and then rinse it out altogether?
I would like to know the answer to this question as well.
After 4 minutes, I put mask or conditioner without rinse my hair.
Do you ever comb the product through your hair?
Abbey, would you be able to do a series on ingredients? Im in Australia and products often arent available or they are called something different. I like reading ingredient lists and would be so good to have some guidance from you ❤
I love the loreal bond repair strengthening product you showed in this video but i use it as the bottle describes. As a pre poo.
@raekess
I remember this video. I took notes! 🤓 Abbey advised to not use all three on the same wash day. Pick two of the three-any two will do.
@meridelmoss1802 Thank you! I thought that's what I remembered, but wanted to make sure, and couldn't remember what video it was in. :)

"Weekly Healthy Hair Wash Day Routine!" (I took notes.) 🥰
I Pat dry my hair with a towel before I condition. I have also used a mask and conditioner and just mix it together and put it in my hair and it seems to work really well.
Do you recommend putting leave in conditioner on roots/ hair closer to the scalp? Or do you get some product on the top parts of the hair while brushing your hair? I have bangs in trying to grow out and I have bleach colored hair and the ends of the bangs seem to be dry as I've only been using the leave in in mids and ends.
I can’t even describe how much of a difference your channel has made on my hair. Thank you so so much 🙏🏼♥️
I‘m struggling with waiting 10-30 minutes.
