Curly girl here, just a tip for applying leave in conditioners, it helps if you add water to them. If I didnt add water, I'd need like a whole handful, but by adding water to my palms as I apply, I only use about a 20 cent piece worth of product. Its a bit annoying to have to wet your hair but once you figure out the right amount for your hair, you can get away with using just enough to help spread the product but not so much that you saturate your hair. In the past, I have added it to a spray bottle of water, but I found I had less control that way and my hair ended up a lot wetter.

You can get products that spritz if you're not in love with the brand you use it's worth trying a different one. I like the spritz ones because if my hair is tangled it's a lot easier to use spray to help detangle it than having to wet down my hair.

Same here, especially as someone with a chemistry background! I really wish that manufacturers would put the concentrations on their list of ingredients. Does x shampoo have more SDS in it than y shampoo even though their lists are identical? I am not trying to shirk SDS by any means... If two conditioners have dimethicones as third ingredient on the list, does that mean that they are at the same concentration?

For a drugstore wash-off conditioner option available in many countries: L'Oreal (Elvital / Elvive / Elseve, depending on the language) Rapid Reviver. Amodimethicone is 3rd ingredients in the ingredients list.
And for a drugstore leave-on spray: Pantene 3 second gloss (sometimes called 7 in 1 miracle oil spray in some countries) also has it in 3rd. It's one of the rare things that conditions without weighing down my very thin hair, just leave them super shiny and supple.

Rapid reciver is a line I should look into just in case, since I also have super thin hair that gets weighed down by anything. But for me it's also important that the shampoo doesn't have any silicones, but I'm fine aith them in a conditioner - as long as I don't put it onto my skin.

Also she made me use both a wash off conditioner (let that sit for several minutes, before washing it off and then after toweldrying my hair (with a microfiber towel, just pat it dry and minimise rubbing) ) and then a leave in conditioner while the hair is still damp/moist. And yeah my hair products of choice are all redken, pricey up-front but you'll need less product, so in the long run it doesn't seem to be more expensive to me at all)

The first product that pops into my mind as my favorite amodemethicone product is the Pureology Color Fanatic Leave In Spray. It is pricey but so good. In general, for drugstore products, I love a lot of the L'Oreal products. I went for a couple of years avoiding silicones b/c everyone said they were bad for your hair. My hair was a mess. As I found out more about ingredients I realize how wonderful silicones were for your hair. Looking back, I used to wash my hair every night using drugstore products and my hair was great. Thank you so much for your channel.

Thank you so much Michelle for this video, I think maybe I now understand why I find my favorite product so effective! On that note, because you did not mention it, I'll give it a shout out: it is the Pureology Color Fanatic Leave In Conditioner. Apparently, amodimethicone is the 3rd ingredient. This is a post for all my peri- and menopausal ladies out there... I don't process my hair in any way, but the decrease in hormone levels has wreaked havoc -with everything, hair included. I found this product, about a year ago, when my hair started thinning and became very brittle and dry. I found a video that addressed breakage and growing your hair longer, in a very simple manner. It was sensible advice and I bought into the logic. After adding this leave in conditioner to my routine, which only consists of shampooing and towel drying, my hair is feeling better and indeed "growing" longer. By the way, HRT did help clear up some issues, (e.g. I no longer struggle with brittle nails), but hair has not improved. I am grateful to have found an OTC product that addresses the sudden shift in hair health.
