I thought Lugia was a water type at first too, but now I understand why it is a "PSYCHC" type. When it flaps its wings, it causes a disturbance in the air around it, so it decided to live underwater to not disturb humankind and Pokemon-kind.
I think the reason why Lugia isn't a water type is because it originally lived in the Brass Tower before it burned down which means it didn't originally have anything to do with the sea or water, but the psychic typing is still a little confusing.
FlameBlade512 here ate the original pokedex entries for lugia Gold: It is said that it quietly spends its time deep at the bottom of the sea because its powers are too strong. It is said that Lugia appears when storms start. 8:51 Palkia’s Water Type makes perfect sense. You know Dialga is Steel/Dragon. It is because of Pokémon Diamond. Diamonds are supposed to be hard as steel. And Palkia, being the mascot of Pokémon Pearl, you would most likely find pearls in water. So, there you go Alex.
I do believe the physics surrounding this question is more relevant than the name of the box art. As in Space exists in a liquid state if time is removed. I might be terribly wrong but none has ever figured out how to remove time from the equation so my argument is relative.
@@JustSomeKittenwithaGunYou are probably not a Pokémon, nor would your legal individual name matter if you, for some reason, are or have ever physically been one.
From Bulbapedia: Gyarados's Flying type may be a reference to koinobori, a carp-shaped windsock traditionally flown to celebrate Children's Day in Japan, formerly called Tango no Sekku (端午の節句). It could also be inspired by the South African cryptid Inkanyamba, a giant, winged eel that causes storms when angry, a trait Gyarados is famous for. In episode 53, The Purr-fect Hero, we see a flagpole with several wind cones modeled after a Gyarados, Goldeen, and Magikarp. Just like the koinobori, in real life.
I think it makes sense for Sudowoodo to be rock type. The 'Sudo' part of Sudowoodo sounds like Psuedo which means false or fake. Combine that with the 'woodo' part and it means 'Fake Wood'
Lugia is not water type because back then a psychic type was known as a "strong" type, because you had pokemon like Alakazam, Mewtwo, Mew, and more. Palkia is part Water because it represents the liquid mater while dialga represents solids with the steel type and girantina represents gas with the ghost type. Hope this helped!
@@zerokitty-np6hf yeah when I used fire blast on a solgaleo in pokemon showdown and it said "its super effective!" I was like "w0t?" And needed to check his typing (I had moon so I didnt knew) and I sat hours questionning my existence
It's dragon typing comes from Dragon Fruit.... Seriously most of these 'Omg doesn't make sense' typings, have logical explanation if you just bothered to look into it. A lot of Pokémon are references to legends of myths from around the world, that explains their typing.
Im pretty sure someone already said this, but Palkia is a water type since the trio (Dialga, Palkia and Giratina) base off the states or forms of matter. Palkia being liquid, makes it a water type. Giratina is ghost because its gas, and dialga is steel since it shows solid.
XChar YT thanks you have solved my biggest question. I wonder also why they chose ghost to represent gas. Like imagine if instead they made a gas type. That would be cool
I always associated Palkia’s water typing with the idea of space commonly being referred to as the ‘cosmic ocean’. There’s also the motif of space being fluid and constantly shifting.
@@Vadimonchik18 milotic(beautiful scales) ,ho-oh (rainbow bird),necrozma (hes a friggin prism), are all the types. i mean silvally is based on arceus and both can change types based on item theyre using. Nikki Lee if u saw his video about the Pokémon anime mistakes, it explains people in the anime mistaking types because of their color, and Aura guardian complained about those mistakes. So in here he talks about types having the specific color a little. Also this was a joke
Well... Palkia's Typing makes more sense than it might seem, in my opinion. Let's think about the trio. All 3 pokemon are Dragon Types, and of course they are called "Dragon Trio" as well. But their secondary typing does actually make sense. Giratina is the lord of the Distortion World, and it has a Ghost Type: this makes sense, because it's capabe of traveling within the dimensions, change its form, gaining ghost wings and stuff. Dialga is the lord of Time, and it can travel over time. A Steel Type makes sense: the steel is a very durable alloy that can resist for years with no sign of deteriorations, so Dialga's steel body is necessary for him in order to stay unharmed after all those time travels. Now let's try to apply this concept to Palkia: Palkia is the lord of space, it can teleport and manipulate the space itself to his liking. Now: between all pokemon typings, which fits Palkia the best? Which material can assume any form without being destroyed, thanks to its nature? Water. Its Water Type helps Palkia to survive and stay completely unharmed when manipulating space, as steel does for Dialga when manipulating time. Also, since the trio represents the whole universe, it is possible that developers thought about let 'em represent the 3 stages of matter as well, with "Steel" representing "Solid", "Water" prepresenting "Liquid", and "Ghost" representing "Air" All this lucubration does actually have a certain logic, or not? Let me know!
>unleasy psyduck against kadabra "oh hai" >do SE dmg to kadabra with psychic moves >kadabra can't do shit to you because not weak to it there's your answer
I do agree about Klefki. I originally thought it was ghost because the first time I ever encountered it was in Ultra Sun, during Acerola's trial... The ghost-type trial.
Klefki is a fairy type because long ago there was a tradition of blaming fairies for missing small objects. Klefki is a personification of this fairy tale.
Lugia is Psychic since it used to live in the Scorched tower, also being a water type would give an advantage over Ho-Oh, Lugia has telepatic powers and the hability to speak to humans, an hability shared by almost every psychic type. So Lugia is a representation of how humans cans missinterpret some legends since humans in the pokemon world assumed Lugia was a water type. Lucario is steel because mineral ores and crystals are used in spiritual energy rituals, psychic represents the mind so it wouldn't fit in the concept of aura, since Lucario uses spiritual powers, not mind powers, and if a counterargument is that there's a Lucario who can speak to humans using telepaty, movies are not canon. Palkia is water because it's a methaphor to the space, since time is not malleable represented by the sturdy nature of steel of Palkia, and space is vast and uncontrolable, just like the sea. Also the legendary trio it comes from also represents the 3 states of matter, Dialga being solid, Palkia liquid and Giratina is gaseous.
Saying Lugia can't be Water type because it would have an advantage over Ho-Oh makes no sense because; Xerneas and Yveltal, Kyogre and Groudon, Zacian and Zamazenta. Hell, Zekrom and Reshiram are super effective against each other. Edit: Also, at least in the anime, nearly every legendary can speak to humans.
I actually sort Pokemon by type when boxing them, and i still put Lugia in the water box just so i can find it easier In my heart of hearts i know Lugia is really water/psychic
I don't know if anyone commented on this but Klefki makes sense, Klefki is based on the myths about little fairies stealing little objects like keys, and also in the old tradition of carrying steel amulets to stop fairies from stealing ^^ it's name also references this as it comes from kleptomaniac.
for everyone saying Palkia makes sense since he's the mascot for Pearl and pearls are underwater, i could use the same logic and technically say Kyogre should be a ground type since sapphire are found underground
Lugia is the GUARDIAN of water not a part of it. If you follow a little bit the story of Johto, you will know that Lugia lived before in that burned tower, so have no relation with water at all.
@@JaelinBezel Golurk was the guardian of ancient civilitations, does that mean it should be Rock (Ancient structures) and Normal? Not trying to be negative, and I definitely enjoyed the video! But... Gyarados - Based on a Chinese dragon which don't have wings or always breathe fire. Gastly line - Pokédex entry even states Gastly is a ball of toxic fumes. Sudowoodo - Looking like something for your own protection doesn't make you share its physical qualities. Lugia - Telepathy. Since there can't be 3 types, they had to chose from flying, water and psychic. Palkia - The legendary representing Pearl. Pearls are formed underwater in clams. Water is 100% logical.
I always thought it’s spikes were the reason it was a steel type Edit: I just reached the end and he does mention it but I really thought steel makes sense otherwise it’d just be really weird for it to have random spikes out of its body. Edit 2: also I guess you can say that since I’d never guess it was a steel if I was fighting it
with that logic let's say Kyogre can beat Groudon with it's water type and groudon is ground type respectively, also doesn't make sense because Kyurem can beat both Zekrom and Reshiram because Kyurem is part Ice and Dragon type, both are weaknesses of Dragon.
schooking Skel-CeentrixPVP uhh do u know that primal groudons form's ability stops water type to be used in battle lol also zekrom with a choice band can nuke kyurem with outrage lmao
Lugia makes perfect sense to not be Water type, because it didn't originally live in the sea, and left to Whirl Islands because it was too powerful. It's also stated in it's Pokédex entry that it uses its Psychic-type powers to control the sea, so yeah, no surprise here.
Empoleon being water/steel instead of water/ice. It's a penguin. Why isn't it an ice type? It would also complete the whole type neutrality thing the Sinnoh starters have going on, with Empoleon's ice being able to counter Toterra's grass/ground. But NOPE. Even my friend, who's probably THE biggest Empoleon fan to ever grace this planet Earth, her only argument being "water/steel is a cool typing". That's it. MAKES NO SEEENSSSSEE
+Musomania27 The Steel typing is apparently because Empoleon's crown that's supposed have the appearance of a trident, the weapon of the Greek God Poseidon. It also resembles a royal penguin, so I kind of see the Steel typing
NessaWyvern do they run around in steel armor or have swords? Lol but seriously, considering the penguin that Empoleon's based off of and that, to my knowledge, that specific type of penguin is mostly found in Arctic areas, then ice would make sense as well.
Gyarados is a flying type cause its based on the chinese or japanese (one of the two) dragon, like Shenlong. Even he evolving from a fish makes sense, because its based on a legend that a salmon that is determined enough to climb a waterfall comes the other side of the mountain Transformed into a flying dragon, without wings, it really just floats.
No it's not. The real reason why is because they wanted it to be a dragon type but they also wanted dragon type to be exclusive to the dragonite line so they slapped on flying. Also It's not even a salmon in the legend In the legend it is a carp which is why gyarados first form is magikarp
I think Lugia was a Psychic/Flying type so it wouldn't have a type advantage over Ho-oh. But that makes no sense when we have Kyogre with a type advantage over Groudon, Dialga having a type advantage over Palkia (Steel resists Dragon and Dragon resists Water), and Xerneas having a type advantage over Yveltal, and Primal Kyogre having a even bigger type advantage over Primal Groudon, since it became a dual Ground/Fire type (just overwrite the Extremely Harsh Sunlight with another weather condition. Heavy Rain stops Fire-type moves from working, making Primal Groudon's new Fire type nothing but a disadvantage).
Annoyingly, the pokemon company have confirmed that Lugia is a psychic type because "Lugia is powerful, and Psychic is seen as a powerful typing, so we chose it over water" or words to that effect. Not even a good justification for it
Is no one gonna mention Florges? It's a fricking grass mermaid!! I used flamethrower on it 3 times when I first played and it ended up killing my dragon team. Seriously! Fuck Florges xD
Lugia uses its psychic powers to control water and watch over the sea i guess..The most common element in space is hydrogen so...Aura has to deal with the body i believe..not psychic shit
Palkia has pearls on its shoulders i guess that gives out a bit of a water typing look? Bulbadaur is part poison type maybe because if you try to eat the bulb or even just touch or smell it,it could release toxic spores? Gengar and its pre-evolution are part poison maybe because they are made up of poisonous gases.... Gyarados is part flying because it's based on a dragon? Lucario is part steel stype maybe because its skeleton is made entirely of steel... Like wolverine from xmen... Just putting my 2 cents in...
Actually Gyrados is a flying type because its whole evolution process (Why it goes from a karp to a dragon) is based on a chinese legend in which T that if a lowly carp could leap over a particular waterfall, referred to as the Dragon Gate, it would be transformed into a dragon, and that when one succeeded, the summer rains would start to fall. There are numerous waterfalls in China which are claimed to be the Dragon Gate, but the most notable is on the Yellow River, near Henan. Therefore, the flying type is symbolic of its evolution. Also Chinese dragons are less 'dragon-like' compared to their European counterparts, so the flying type does make sense to an extent.
Palkia, Dialga, and Giratina are based of the 3 states of matter. Palkia = Liquid (Water) Dialga = Solid (Steel) Giratina = Gas (Ghost) Which is why Palkia was typed Water/Dragon.
The reason why psychc types were immune to ghost types in gen one was because they somehow messed it up (my brother told me about it and explained why psychc types were op)
The actual reason Lucario is a steel type is because it’s spikes and theoretically bones are made of the mythical metal orichalcum which fits along with its aura powers since it’s known to have sacred properties.
I think Gastly being a poison type makes sense since it is kinda just a ball of gas and in the pokemon world gas is kinda always (and in the real world sometimes) poisonous.
And before someone points out "DARTRIXNATION HAS A DECIDUEYE AS HIS PFP!!! HE'S SO STUPID!!!" I did that intentionally because i wanted a full line... Mascot being rowlet
The reason why klefki is fairy type is because there was a legend that the fairies used to take little objects like keys(I listened it in someplace, but not sure where).
Talking about magnemite.... Magnemite already has the steel type, taking the second spot. I can see why someone can be confused with it. It floats because gravity’s pulse because it’s a MAGNET
Magnemite already had electric and steel types, which fit it perfectly, so they couldn't add flying. Same for Venomoth. Bug and Poison, with no room left for flying.
Yeah it makes magnemite an elecrtromagnet so it floats but if it had ice type it would make more sence because superconductors that make magnet float ae very very cold and so electric and steel is good but if the Pokemon company made a pre evolution for magnemite and then make it like slowbro evolution method that some iice type Pokemon has to come near it to evolve it so here's my theory Make a pre evoloution for magnemite Make a Pokemon that if that Pokemon comes near pre evolved magnemite they turn into magnemite with ice electric and steel type that will make a lot of sense as there are real life super conductors that are ice cold and make magnets float
The creation trio (dialga, palkia, giratina) are based on the three forms of matter. Dialga being solid, thus steel, Giratina being gas, thus ghost, finally palkia is liquid, thus water.
It's possessed moss attached to an anchor. That explains its ghost and grass typing (a combo that has officially been done to death it's basically the new Fire/fighting). It's not steel type the way Timburr/Gurdurr/Conkeldurr aren't fighting and grass, steel, and rock respectively. It's just the Pokémon using an item as a tool. Although a Fighting and Rock type would be really cool.
It's been five years, so someone has probably pointed this out already, but... Gyarados and its previous form, Magikarp, are based on a legend of a koi fish transforming into a dragon after proving its worth by climbing a waterfall. For Americans, that's a pretty obscure reference, but it is what it is.
I agree that Gyarados being a flying type is strange, but there is a reason. There is an ancient Chinese myth about carps that become dragons. It goes if a carp can swim up the Hunan waterfall and leap through the Dragon's Gate located at the top, then it will become a powerful dragon. Chinese dragons are long and serpentine AND can fly. This is why Magicarp sucks so much, it is JUST a fish. But by "climbing the waterfall" (getting to level 20) then it becomes a powerful dragon. This is why Gyarados has the flying type and why it can learn dragon moves. Also if you play pokemon snap, this is why you have to get the magicarp to the waterfall and why it evolves when it gets up there.
+The9gods Still, the whole lore about a "Carp leaping over the Dragon's Gate to become a Dragon", STILL points towards being a Water/Dragon Type. NOT a Flying Type! Plus, it looks like a Sea Serpent, AND it can learn Dragon Moves! HELL! Even Milotic looks like a Water/Dragon Type, and it can learn Dragon Moves, Yet it's NOT a Dragon Type! But you know who IS a Water/Dragon Type? Freakin' KINGDRA!!! Seriously, How is a Sea Horse classified as a Dragon Type, yet a Sea Serpent ISN'T!?
I agree with you, but don't forget Goodra. Wtf is what? A blob gets to be a dragon, but Dragon's Gate jumping magikarps get to evolve into flying and NOT dragon.
The9gods Amen to that! I mean, I seriously thought the Goomy line was either Bug or Poison Types, but Nope! Pure Dragon! Also, I forgot to mention that Both Magikarp and Gyarados are in the Water 1 and Dragon Egg Groups! Which is yet ANOTHER Reason they should be classified as Water/Dragon! Plus, aside from Bounce, Gyarados can't learn any Flying type Moves!
I can kinda see the psychic typing in Lugia, because Lugia has been shown controlling water in the anime, but I also think that Lugia should be a water type. This really confused me when I went to battle Lugia, because I thought it was a water/flying type, so I was pretty surprised when I caught Lugia and found out that Lugia was actually a psychic/flying type, but at least I finally understood why my umbreon kept accidentally knocking it out... At least I saved before battling, one thing I hadn’t learned when I battled legendaries in the previous games I had played...
+TheAuraGuardian And Gyarados is based after an eastern dragon and it makes sense, since eastern dragons can actually fly without wings. And the reason y Lugia might be part-psychic type it's because of the telepathy that it possess.
+TheAuraGuardian the ghastly line is poison because as refrenced in bulbpedia "Gastly has no true form, due to its body being 95% poisonous gas" (may be after gen 1 so let me give a gen 1 example) "Almost invisible, this gaseous Pokémon cloaks the target and puts it to sleep without notice." that is the gen 1 pokedex entry. Sounds like poison doesn't it?
2:43 It actually was Psychic type in gen 1-4, but a coding error in Pokemon Blaclk & White made it Water/Water type, which is listed as pure Water. The types in Gen 5 are listed as numbers. 0 - Normal 1 - Fire 2 - Water 3 - Grass 4 - Electric 5 - Fighting 6 - Ground 7 - Flying 8 - Rock 9 - Bug 10 - Ice 11 - Poison 12 - Psychic 13 - Ghost 14 - Dragon 15 - Dark 16 - Steel Fairy didn't exist then, but if it did, it would be 17. Psyduck's typing was mistyped as 2, 2 instead of 2, 12. Golduck's typing was set to "copy Psyduck's typing". That's the case for most evolutions that don't change typing. That's how Psyduck and Golduck lost their Psychic type.
Gastly may make sense being a poison type as it looks like poison gas but I agree the rest of the Gastly line should've lost the poison type being replaced with dark.
Well, Palkia is a water type because Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina represent the three stages of matter, Solid (Dialga- Steel Type), Liquid (Palkia-Water Type), and Gas (Giratina-Ghost Type)
+Ben Moriarty 0.0 Wow, you're VERY smart. I never thought of that. Still.... isn't there another liquid that isn't water and makes more sense on Palkia?
In the creation trio's favour I will say that they represent the states of matter Giratina - gas (hence it is a ghost type) Palkia - liquid (hence it is a liquid type) Dialga - solid (hence it is steel type)
Lugia completely broke Aura. I know that feel. Watched the movie with it in it, then when I played the game I was very confused that it wasn't a water type
the reason that Gyarados is a water flying type is because it is based off the Chinese myth about koi fish transforming into dragons which is why also Magikarp becomes Gyarados.
+grapesvine it's not a dragon because in red/blue a dragon and water type would have close to no weaknesses (the only dragon thpe move back then was dragon rage, too)
it's mega design doesnt exactly scream "dragon" and i dont exactly know why gamefreak decided to go with water/dark instead of water/dragon since they would both be weak to fairy types anyways
There’s nothing on the Bulbapedia saying that what you said is its origins, and what you said also brings up an argument on why it isn’t a dragon-type.
I can name a few and I'll be ordering them based on the generation they debuted in. Farfetched is Normal Flying when it should've been Fighting Flying since it uses a stick to battle with that's also a hold item in later games (Obviously this is only talking about vanilla Farfetched. I really love how even Game Freak themselves thought it would make sense as a Fighting Type when they made its Galarian version pure Fighting) Ursaring is pure Normal when it would make sense as Normal Dark cause it can be ferocious in battle as seen in the anime. Glalie is pure ice when Ice Dark would make sense since it's another mon with a menacing aura that would fit for a type called the Evil Type in Japan.
Dialga, palkia and giratina all represent solid, liquid and gas, that's why their typing is so confusing
Oxbinoo I never noticed that association before! Though that does lead me to wonder why time isn’t the liquid, while having space as the solid.

Ghastly is a ball of pollution. It builds off of that. It make sense
In that case, you could argue it makes less sense for Gastly to be ghost type (not Haunter or Gengar though)
@@CookieGal- I always interpreted Ghastly as a ghost that manifests in a way that causes pollution. It's essence is a ghost, but its existence carries poisonous traits.

I thought Lugia was a water type at first too, but now I understand why it is a "PSYCHC" type. When it flaps its wings, it causes a disturbance in the air around it, so it decided to live underwater to not disturb humankind and Pokemon-kind.
isn't that a flying type thing
Poké-Bob1000 IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN WATER PSYCHIC... THERE ARE NON FLYING TYPES THAT CAN LEARN FLY... TAKE LATIAS FOR EXAMPLE...
I think the reason why Lugia isn't a water type is because it originally lived in the Brass Tower before it burned down which means it didn't originally have anything to do with the sea or water, but the psychic typing is still a little confusing.
FlameBlade512 here ate the original pokedex entries for lugia
Gold: It is said that it quietly spends its time deep at the bottom of the sea because its powers are too strong. Silver: It is said to be the guardian of the seas. It is rumored to have been seen on the night of a storm. Crystal: It has an incredible ability to calm raging storms. It is said that Lugia appears when storms start. Stadium 2: It is said that it quietly spends its time deep at the bottom of the sea because its powers are too strong

Palkia’s Water Type makes perfect sense.
You know Dialga is Steel/Dragon. It is because of Pokémon Diamond. Diamonds are supposed to be hard as steel.
And Palkia, being the mascot of Pokémon Pearl, you would most likely find pearls in water. So, there you go Alex.

@@GalaxyPalkia Diamonds also resist the passage of Time, which is what Dialga represents and controls.
Equine Productions oh that’s cool. Well you see this is Pokémon, psychic beats poison, and it shouldn’t
I do believe the physics surrounding this question is more relevant than the name of the box art. As in Space exists in a liquid state if time is removed. I might be terribly wrong but none has ever figured out how to remove time from the equation so my argument is relative.

@@bubbykins4864 Then why do all these other Pokemon get shoehorned into a typing just because of their name?
I always figured it was an attempt at balance. If Gyarados were Water/Dragon, it would essentially have no weaknesses in Generation 1. ^^
I think it makes sense for Sudowoodo to be rock type.
The 'Sudo' part of Sudowoodo sounds like Psuedo which means false or fake. Combine that with the 'woodo' part and it means 'Fake Wood'
Oooh ao that's why it lost to a water type
Lugia is not water type because back then a psychic type was known as a "strong" type, because you had pokemon like Alakazam, Mewtwo, Mew, and more. Palkia is part Water because it represents the liquid mater while dialga represents solids with the steel type and girantina represents gas with the ghost type. Hope this helped!

Tldr pearls are found in the ocean
Dialga Conscious mind, Palkia Sub conscious mind, Giratina Collective Unconscious mind(s).
I always associated Palkia’s water typing with the idea of space commonly being referred to as the ‘cosmic ocean’. There’s also the motif of space being fluid and constantly shifting.

Nobody said that tho. Just that there's correlation, which there always has been.
Nikki Lee if u saw his video about the Pokémon anime mistakes, it explains people in the anime mistaking types because of their color, and Aura guardian complained about those mistakes. So in here he talks about types having the specific color a little. Also this was a joke
Nidoking is poison :D
Also, since the trio represents the whole universe, it is possible that developers thought about let 'em represent the 3 stages of matter as well, with "Steel" representing "Solid", "Water" prepresenting "Liquid", and "Ghost" representing "Air"
All this lucubration does actually have a certain logic, or not? Let me know!

+Kazekai psychic is resistance to psychic
Palkia Water = Pearls
He's the Guardian of the sea. He lives in water. Personally, despite lugias backstory, it just makes more sense if he were a water type

But dragon typing makes more sense for Gyarados when you realize, it doesn't learn flying moves.
Also, Lugia might have telepathic abilities, but it still lives in water, TCG it is water, and learns water-type moves. Lugia can be Psychic/Water.

Khaza Academy Oh you know it’s not like primal Kyogre doesn’t exist and totally can’t just do the same with its ability.
TheAuraGuardian But... Penguins...
+Musomania27 or even water flying
+Musomania27 I could argue that not all penguins live in icy regions. We have penguins in NZ that chill in forests.
Even he evolving from a fish makes sense, because its based on a legend that a salmon that is determined enough to climb a waterfall comes the other side of the mountain Transformed into a flying dragon, without wings, it really just floats.
finally i found you
If it's based on a dragon, then why isn't it...oh nevermind.
No it's not. The real reason why is because they wanted it to be a dragon type but they also wanted dragon type to be exclusive to the dragonite line so they slapped on flying. Also It's not even a salmon in the legend In the legend it is a carp which is why gyarados first form is magikarp
actually Gyarados was supposed to be dragon, but it would have been broken in the gen 1 games
TheYvesL But do you know whats also based off of? Its what you just said, CHINESE FUCKING DRAGONS!

If Gyrados is based on a dragon...
...Why isn't it a dragon type?
Palkia = Liquid (Water)
Dialga = Solid (Steel)
Giratina = Gas (Ghost)
Which is why Palkia was typed Water/Dragon.
Magikarps are based off flying fishes if they get over a waterfall they become a dragon
family girl Palkia is water because the Palkia Dialga Giratina trio present: Liquid, Solid and Gas

Yeah it makes magnemite an elecrtromagnet so it floats but if it had ice type it would make more sence because superconductors that make magnet float ae very very cold and so electric and steel is good but if the Pokemon company made a pre evolution for magnemite and then make it like slowbro evolution method that some iice type Pokemon has to come near it to evolve it so here's my theory
Make a pre evoloution for magnemite
Make a Pokemon that if that Pokemon comes near pre evolved magnemite they turn into magnemite with ice electric and steel type that will make a lot of sense as there are real life super conductors that are ice cold and make magnets float
Yes. Also, the evolution line is clearly steel and magnets are used in a lot of electrical devices.

Gyarados and its previous form, Magikarp, are based on a legend of a koi fish transforming into a dragon after proving its worth by climbing a waterfall. For Americans, that's a pretty obscure reference, but it is what it is.
I love lugia so freaking much it’s my favorite Pokémon but yes it NEEDS the water type
i think lugia is psychic so it wouldnt get the type advantage on ho oh
That does make sense
@@thatonebee5503 But its still bullshit!
DatBoiGaming YT ahh, my brother
@@McDevious what about Groudon and Kyogre?

Dark type wasn't a thing until gen 2. It can't be a dark type.
He said that they could get the Dark-typing later. Magnemite and Magneton became part Steel in Gen 2 after being pure Electric in Gen 1
Palkia is Water because the Dragon trio represent the 3 states of matter: Dialga=solid=Steel, Palkia=liquid=Water, Giratina=gassous=Ghost
"Except for Bulbasaur"
Rowlet: am I a joke to you?
The9gods
Amen to that!
Yea I pretty much agree with all of this. Lucario should definitely be psychic fighting too. That would be a cool combo
Medicham
How pissed was he when he found out Rowlett had a second type?
klefki is based on fairies that steel shiny items like keys so fairy makes sense
+Nurul Hassan Yeah, I found that out after I made the video and brought it up in my second confusing types vid
+TheAuraGuardian And Gyarados is based after an eastern dragon and it makes sense, since eastern dragons can actually fly without wings. And the reason y Lugia might be part-psychic type it's because of the telepathy that it possess.
+TheAuraGuardian palkia dialga and giratina are based of solid, gas and antimatter (no liquid for some shit reason????)
+Ian Rom Erv I was gonna say the same thing about lugia.
*3:56** It makes sence for Ghastly*
*Also for **9:57** Lucario is a steal type since its strong and a badass*
@@Bazzi69 why not....

Lol i found out that gyarados was flying type and i told it to my 3 cousins. None of them believed me.
Magikarp jumps high because of the dragon gate legend. Boom. Gyarados is flying type.
2:43
It actually was Psychic type in gen 1-4, but a coding error in Pokemon Blaclk & White made it Water/Water type, which is listed as pure Water.
The types in Gen 5 are listed as numbers.
0 - Normal
1 - Fire
2 - Water
3 - Grass
4 - Electric
5 - Fighting
6 - Ground
7 - Flying
8 - Rock
9 - Bug
10 - Ice
11 - Poison
12 - Psychic
13 - Ghost
14 - Dragon
15 - Dark
16 - Steel
Fairy didn't exist then, but if it did, it would be 17.
Psyduck's typing was mistyped as 2, 2 instead of 2, 12. Golduck's typing was set to "copy Psyduck's typing". That's the case for most evolutions that don't change typing.
That's how Psyduck and Golduck lost their Psychic type.
Psyduck has never been Psychic-type. Do your research, pseudo-fan!
www.smogon.com/dex/rb/pokemon/psyduck/
Palkia is the is "diamond and PEARL"! YOU KNOW A GEM YOU FINDER UNDER THE SEEEEEAAAAAAAAAA
wow you are a fucking genious if only you weren’t so idiotic so you can see palkia with your own blond eye
1:57 Freaking DODRIO is a Flying-type and can learn the HM move Fly. What does it do, flap its two side heads to stay airborne? XD
Piggy Oink Oink Nah, it spins it's heads like a helicopter
it's a DODO why can it fly?
All birds in pokemon (except empoleon) are flying types but birds that can’t fly makes sense not to learn fly (except for dodrio)
Pidgey, spearow, hoot hoot, starly using fly to well fly is also a little Farfetch'd.....
See what I did there....
it actually flaps it tail fast, at least that's what it does in pokemon stadium idk
also gyrados is flying because it's modeled after those Chinese dragons. they fly, yet look like snakes
OMG why is this ghostly ball of poisonous gas a ghost and poison type
"this pokemon represented by a pearl should be psychic"
cough cough shenron cough cough
Cough cough Shenron is deffnly is gyardoes cough cough cough pikachu
Aura:all pre evolve starter have one type
Rowlet: allow me to introduce myself
Gastly may make sense being a poison type as it looks like poison gas but I agree the rest of the Gastly line should've lost the poison type being replaced with dark.
did u know that gastly can't learn poison gas?
@@alexmagalhaes1090
I love how the "Poison Gas Pokemon" can't learn Poison gas.
Exactly
Well, Palkia is a water type because Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina represent the three stages of matter, Solid (Dialga- Steel Type), Liquid (Palkia-Water Type), and Gas (Giratina-Ghost Type)
+Ben Moriarty 0.0 Wow, you're VERY smart. I never thought of that. Still.... isn't there another liquid that isn't water and makes more sense on Palkia?
+Ben Moriarty i like your thinking!
there are 4 stages of matter, plasma is one too
In the creation trio's favour I will say that they represent the states of matter
Giratina - gas (hence it is a ghost type)
Palkia - liquid (hence it is a liquid type)
Dialga - solid (hence it is steel type)
Poison would make more sense for the gas pokemon.
+Oaw blissed Then shouldn't it be a dragon then?
+grapesvine it's not a dragon because in red/blue a dragon and water type would have close to no weaknesses (the only dragon thpe move back then was dragon rage, too)
+Ephi Why isn't Mega Gyarados a Dragon type? I doubt there would be any balancing issues.
it's mega design doesnt exactly scream "dragon" and i dont exactly know why gamefreak decided to go with water/dark instead of water/dragon since they would both be weak to fairy types anyways
I really love how even Game Freak themselves thought it would make sense as a Fighting Type when they made its Galarian version pure Fighting)
Ursaring is pure Normal when it would make sense as Normal Dark cause it can be ferocious in battle as seen in the anime.
Glalie is pure ice when Ice Dark would make sense since it's another mon with a menacing aura that would fit for a type called the Evil Type in Japan.
well palkia is representative the water state of matter, so it justifies the water typing
I find sudowoodo funny because people might bring out fire types to fight it at first only to get destroyed by rock moves
