Mad Crack Really, this is a reminder that Typemoon is all about Compatibility. Saber was subpar with Kiri, and only decent with Shirou (who makes for a far better Servant than Master himself even while alive). But with Rin? Other than the issue of Gil, Saber and Rin would steamroll the War.
People miss the fact that Kirei let this assassin die so that the other masters thought he was out of play. However, kirei still has like 50 other assassins or something lmao and he used them to recon his enemies and gather intel. At the end, they were all sacrificed to find out Riders noble phantasm, and that was the end for Assassin’s true body. Besides Kiritsugu, Kirei was the only one able to use Assassin to such a great degree of effectiveness.
A guy honestly it was a waste, hundred faced hassan could have been one of the most oppressive servants in the war, capable of popping up outta nowhere and at multiple locations at once, no master would be safe. He could of had an assassin or two watching every master, and when their servant left to do battle, just slaughter them. Kiritsugu, Casters master, Kayneth all would have fallen to this easy, the only exceptions would be Waver who was with Rider pretty much 24/7, Kirei himself (duh) and Tokiomi who they were allied with (and he would join the first group the instant of kirei’s betrayal). And sure, finding out riders noble phantasm is fine and all (except redundant since all servants have knowledge on all other heroes in the throne, so the instant Rider announced himself as Iskandar they all should have known (except Saber due to her circumstances)) but also killing masters (and therefore eliminating servants) is a FAR bigger advantage than learning 1 servants noble phantasm. hundred faced hassan is probably the (summonable) hassan with the most potential, yet here he was wasted.

People hype up the 3 great knight classes (saber and archer in particular) but to be honest I think the most practical classes are Assassin and Caster as mentioned by Kiritsugu as they got steath, are great to gather intel on other masters, can potentially slaughter other masters in the sleep and have such a variety of options at their disposal whereas archers are primarily long range oriented and saber are close range fighters
Only problem is later into the war you may have no choice but to fight other servants head on. And while ideally you take out the masters of all the strong servants first, no plan ever survives contact with the enemy.
Its a real shame that they got rid of assassin so fast, or never actually gave his character any kind of actual development or interaction like they did for the others. I mean, I feel as though he could have been used far better if they had given him to Emiya. I am confident that could have proven to be a rather competent fighter and posed a threat to the other servants instead of just throwing him away all for the sake of making Tokiomi look more important than he is.

They really downplayed assassin in Fate zero. Assassin class specialize in taking out masters and In this anime they always pit them against other servants in 1v1 which is not the optimal situation for assassin as they don't have the raw power the knight classes have.
No, Gilgamesh is far stronger. If you mean True Assassin, he's not in top 10 and got wrecked by Archer and Rider. If you mean Hassan in Babylonia, maybe? But even then, he's not in top 10 either.

HF Hassan is not Zeros Hassan. They are part of the same organization though. Zero Hassan is Hassan of the Hundred faces. Stay night HF Hassan is Hassan of the Cursed arm.

Its a real shame that they got rid of assassin so fast, or never actually gave his character any kind of actual development or interaction like they did for the others. I mean, I feel as though he could have been used far better if they had given him to Emiya. I am confident that could have proven to be a rather competent fighter and posed a threat to the other servants instead of just throwing him away all for the sake of making Tokiomi look more important than he is.
Kritsugu with Assassin's Creed... well, that would be dream come true.

They really downplayed assassin in Fate zero. Assassin class specialize in taking out masters and In this anime they always pit them against other servants in 1v1 which is not the optimal situation for assassin as they don't have the raw power the knight classes have.

Hmm, perhaps I'm getting confused. I thought that King Hassan WAS the owner of the Cursed Arm, just that he'd been corrupted by the Shadow. It's been far too long since I played that game. Still, I could see a situation where they were able to sneak up on Gil, given the proper prep.
