That’s why Galand wasn’t turned to stone after smacking Escanor even though he said he could go first. In his mind it wasn’t an attack even though it’s still lethal to humans.

I love the interaction between Escanor and Estarossa. With everyone else hating him cause he killed Meliodas and thus being made useless from his commandment, Escanor just walks up and says he pities him. Escanor doesn't hate him for killing Meliodas, he pities Estarorssa for being unlucky enough to have made an enemy out of the strongest of all races. Escanor is and always will be the very definition of badass.

Without that, mf would have been dead. What I love about Escanor, other than any other arrogant character, it’s that he’s not the «bratty » type of arrogant, he is a God complex type of arrogant, in no way he will feel equal to you, he doesn’t have time to prove it, that’s the PUREST form of pride any character could have ever.
Escanor's most badass moment for me was the first encounter with Estarossa. While everyone was effected by Estarossa's cursed power which paralyzes anyone who bears any resentment against him, Escanor isn't affected and just walks up to him and says, "why should I resent someone so much weaker than me?"
Oh, yes, you can. Estarossa is really Mael. When Mael got his memory changed, his grace left, later to inhabit Escanor. I find it MUCH more savage realizing that Escanor trounced Estarossa WITH HIS OWN POWER! Are there words for that level of ownage?

For many of us, Escanor has carried the series all by itself. WE WATCHED FOR HIM. When he left, there was no humor left. We watched and completed the series just for the sake of previous memories. Escanor was the one who defeated 6 of the 10 Commandments, defeating the Demon king. I think his was the most enjoyable battles. HE SHOWED WHAT IT IS TO OVERCOME BY CRUSHING WITH A SUPERIOR POWER. And it carried Sunshine even better than MAEL. By combining his heart and courage with Sunshine, he even defeated the demon king. ESCANOR YOU WERE THE REASON FOR WATCHING THIS SERIES.

I went to the patretta center last January and went down their bullet slide. I had just bought new swimming trunks which were VERY slick. When I made it to the bottom of the slide the life guard told me that it was the fastest he had seen anyone go. he said my time was 7.43 seconds which was the second fastest time on record. My cousin Lucas told me that he didn't believe me though which was really frustrating because I know he was just jealous.

A Salute for Escanor who never went against his beliefs, always loved the woman he had feelings for even though she betrayed him and The Seven Deadly Sins, and never gave up even after reaching his very limits and losing his power even until he died.
I like how Escanor can just leave Rhitta randomly lying around because pretty much noone can steal and carry it away, and he can immediately summon it from anywhere.

The first season is the best. Season 2 only has one great element which is Escanor. The main reason why the season sucks is because the power scaling system f*cked the show up so bad that was never mentioned ever again

They buff the Commandments too strong and the other too weak that we never see them as important characters anymore. The pacing is really shit, the characters are now more forgettable now. I feel it had more emotional value and showed how string demons really are compared to what we saw in first season. They actually felt like a threat our main characters had no chance to beat which made moments like escanors and meliodas awakening much more hype.I personally didnt care much about the holy knights so idc if they were irrelevant.
@@LionsinofStraight I have to agree, when everything became dependent on power levels, the story pretty much disregarded like 95% of the cast and became more focused on numbers rather than battle strategy and character development. Escanor was breath of fresh air because he basically says to all the villains "fuck your power levels. I'm the GOAT" and graciously defeats his opponents without feeling too much like a mary sue.
This marks the finest end of any character in any form of art I've ever seen, Escanors death was as profoundly paradoxical as the nature of his character. The weakest yet strongest Sin, lived a death rich with pride and timidity, shaped by his life's journey. His final sacrifice was an ode to love and friendship, yet in those final moments and for the first time in his life, the conflicts that stem from his contradictory nature dissolved into perfect harmony, he was no longer a feeble humble man nor the indestructible Sin Of Pride, he was but much more than that. In his final farewell speech his aura of pride never abandoned him, yet his title of Sin did, for the reasons he was proud could never be sinful. His latest act and transparent heartfelt words lead to the embodying of humility, he became the pinnacle of what any man could aspire to be at life's end and felt an enormous pride for the life he was leaving behind. A death that made him whole, the personification of proud humility, a striking paradox. In the end, nobody could kill Escanor, but Escanor himself, so pretentious, yet humbling, perhaps in and on itself a paradox. He will be forever missed as one of the best fictional characters ever conceived in human history.
But Meliodas cooked that pie, right? It depends on the chef. If it's Ban, then surely it's an heavenly feeling but if Meliodas, then it's an advanced ticket to visit the afterlife temporarily

The fight between Escanor and Galand/Melascula is a masterclass in portraying justifiably OP characters. For so many episodes the main cast, who are also depicted as OP, can't do jack against the new baddies, not even the new one at that time (Merlin) who was so strong she was kept away in the first season. We knew the heroes are in deep shiz. Then Escanor arrives and does his thing. He is what Hendrickson was to the 7DS in S1, what the Ten Commandments were to the 7DS at the start of S2. Like them, he subverted our expectations by introducing a power level no one can reach despite their OPness. And unlike Goku, Kirito, Ainz Ooal, and other plot armor characters, Escanor's powertripping scenes are deserved because one, he literally is the strongest human according to the lore. Everyone knows it. Two, the rules of his powers are clear. No sudden SuperSaiyanLevel9000, legendary hacking skills, and secret forbidden spells coming out from nowhere or just because he's emotional or dying (he's too OP to be those). Three, there is only one person who has a chance of killing him, himself. But even so, he can't.
and the amazing thing is that he can't even draw the whole power of the grace. Sunshine was made to rival full power Meliodas, something that only Mael at noon could do.
The fact that he’s insanely op and isn’t written terribly is amazing, the only time I thought it was bullshit when during the Duo tournament at night, dude has literally one weakness he doesn’t need to be able to fight at all times
The night fight made sense though. His axe is actually a nerf for him being only able to "store" his excessive powers. The rest of the main cast has powerful weapons while his axe only helps in regulating his strength. At least it showed its usefulness before being forgotten.
Anyone else remember picking up this anime/manga for the first time, spoiler free, loving how carefree and chill meliodas was and how funny the series was, just to get to the demons and be getting absolutely clapped and on the run, searching for the rest of the sins, not knowing who they were or how they'd even be of help at all, since the situation seemed so dire. Just to show up at the bar where we still had no idea that the tender was escanor, such a hype and crazy anime moment if you were spoiler free.
the manga had chapters about escanor during the Vampire battle back in the day before we meet escanor in the present timeline so we had an idea of what he really was
There's not much talk about wimpy Escanor. I think without him, we wouldn't love strong Escanor. 4:07 is easily one of his best moments, and my favorite soliloquy. I think this is where we can see clearly how important is Merlin for him. Despite his over confident personality and superb appearance in his battle mode, he just feel unworthy to be seen as a man by her and he knows she doesn't feel anything for him. She is his sun, unreachable but warm, he doesn't need nor aim for anything else than being near her. Edit: Great performance by Sugita Tomokazu, btw. The way his voice gets deeper as he transforms is sublime.
Escanor unexpectedly came and invaded my life forcefully after that encounter with Galand. And I don't regret it. As an anime lover and freak, there has never been a character so powerful that I fell in love before him. He's my all time favourite.

The best character in the series. All of the sins fought each other at some point in the anime, except Escanor, he never turned against his friends even vs meliodas he had to win to protect everyone. GIGA chad personality full unique powers and so badass fights.
Escanor always reminds me of my late best friend whom died of pandemic last year. He love the character so much, he had his quote all over his social media "Lion's Sin: Pride" and such. He fell in love with 7DS because I urge him to marathon watch all 2 seasons of it together only in single day lol. He left so many beautiful memories to me and I promise him I'll witness 7DS's end story to tell him when me met in afterlife later.

I still cant get over the fact that they killed off the only true human character in the team. His only purpose in life was to be valuable to merlin and his friends whom cared about him. He really didnt deserve his ending after sacrificing so much as a human. Even in his puny form he still protected people with his life with just a small shield not out of pride but out of love. Which means he already atoned for his so called sin of pride. Meanwhile the others never actually atoned for them.
Because he himself is the most powerful weapon. Unlike other sins, his weapon does not make him stronger, rather it makes him weaker like Kenpachi's eye patch. Now that's what we call badass.
He is not just arrogant but he also has the power to back his words. And the best part, he represents the humans in a world packed with over powered beings. That's why he is loved by us all.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the VA for Meliodas (Yuki Kaji) for being able to portray such kindness and fun and in other moments voicing Zeldris being completely dark and impulsive. This dude also voices Todoroki Shoto from MHA and FREAKING EREN YEAGER amongst others such as Kenma from Haikyuu!! and Phoenix from Ace Attorney...like holy shit...hands down one of the best voice actors of our generation.
Even if it is the only reason, the third season needs to be remade to do justice to the fight between Escanor and Demon Meliodas. It was such a huge let down after all the excellent animation of the earlier battles. Give us the Battle that we deserve!!

I went to the patretta center last January and went down their bullet slide. I had just bought new swimming trunks which were VERY slick. When I made it to the bottom of the slide the life guard told me that it was the fastest he had seen anyone go. he said my time was 7.43 seconds which was the second fastest time on record. My cousin Lucas told me that he didn't believe me though which was really frustrating because I know he was just jealous.

I feel it had more emotional value and showed how string demons really are compared to what we saw in first season. They actually felt like a threat our main characters had no chance to beat which made moments like escanors and meliodas awakening much more hype.I personally didnt care much about the holy knights so idc if they were irrelevant.

Escanor was breath of fresh air because he basically says to all the villains "fuck your power levels. I'm the GOAT" and graciously defeats his opponents without feeling too much like a mary sue.
This marks the finest end of any character in any form of art I've ever seen, Escanors death was as profoundly paradoxical as the nature of his character.
The weakest yet strongest Sin, lived a death rich with pride and timidity, shaped by his life's journey. His final sacrifice was an ode to love and friendship, yet in those final moments and for the first time in his life, the conflicts that stem from his contradictory nature dissolved into perfect harmony, he was no longer a feeble humble man nor the indestructible Sin Of Pride, he was but much more than that.
In his final farewell speech his aura of pride never abandoned him, yet his title of Sin did, for the reasons he was proud could never be sinful. The fight between Escanor and Galand/Melascula is a masterclass in portraying justifiably OP characters. For so many episodes the main cast, who are also depicted as OP, can't do jack against the new baddies, not even the new one at that time (Merlin) who was so strong she was kept away in the first season. We knew the heroes are in deep shiz.
Then Escanor arrives and does his thing. He is what Hendrickson was to the 7DS in S1, what the Ten Commandments were to the 7DS at the start of S2. Like them, he subverted our expectations by introducing a power level no one can reach despite their OPness.
And unlike Goku, Kirito, Ainz Ooal, and other plot armor characters, Escanor's powertripping scenes are deserved because one, he literally is the strongest human according to the lore. Everyone knows it. Two, the rules of his powers are clear. No sudden SuperSaiyanLevel9000, legendary hacking skills, and secret forbidden spells coming out from nowhere or just because he's emotional or dying (he's too OP to be those). Three, there is only one person who has a chance of killing him, himself. But even so, he can't.

The night fight made sense though. His axe is actually a nerf for him being only able to "store" his excessive powers. The rest of the main cast has powerful weapons while his axe only helps in regulating his strength. At least it showed its usefulness before being forgotten.

Anyone else remember picking up this anime/manga for the first time, spoiler free, loving how carefree and chill meliodas was and how funny the series was, just to get to the demons and be getting absolutely clapped and on the run, searching for the rest of the sins, not knowing who they were or how they'd even be of help at all, since the situation seemed so dire. Just to show up at the bar where we still had no idea that the tender was escanor, such a hype and crazy anime moment if you were spoiler free.

There's not much talk about wimpy Escanor. I think without him, we wouldn't love strong Escanor. 4:07 is easily one of his best moments, and my favorite soliloquy. I think this is where we can see clearly how important is Merlin for him. Despite his over confident personality and superb appearance in his battle mode, he just feel unworthy to be seen as a man by her and he knows she doesn't feel anything for him. She is his sun, unreachable but warm, he doesn't need nor aim for anything else than being near her.
Edit: Great performance by Sugita Tomokazu, btw. The way his voice gets deeper as he transforms is sublime.

The best character in the series. All of the sins fought each other at some point in the anime, except Escanor, he never turned against his friends even vs meliodas he had to win to protect everyone. GIGA chad personality full unique powers and so badass fights.

I still cant get over the fact that they killed off the only true human character in the team. His only purpose in life was to be valuable to merlin and his friends whom cared about him. He really didnt deserve his ending after sacrificing so much as a human. Even in his puny form he still protected people with his life with just a small shield not out of pride but out of love. Which means he already atoned for his so called sin of pride. Meanwhile the others never actually atoned for them.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the VA for Meliodas (Yuki Kaji) for being able to portray such kindness and fun and in other moments voicing Zeldris being completely dark and impulsive. This dude also voices Todoroki Shoto from MHA and FREAKING EREN YEAGER amongst others such as Kenma from Haikyuu!! and Phoenix from Ace Attorney...like holy shit...hands down one of the best voice actors of our generation.
