Parma Violets and Sherbet lemons were the kind of things your Gran gave you when you visited... along with Everton mints, Murray mints, Chocolate Limes, Pear Drops, and later, Werther's Originals, and "travel sweets", which came in a tin, dusted with fine sugar, in a variety of fruity flavours. In sweet shops we'd buy loose sweets by the scoop, including those above and Kola Kubes, white mice, minstrels, blackjacks, fruit salad chews, red licorice laces etc.

the main difference is in USA Haribo used to use food colourings red 40, yellow 5, blue 1 and artificial flavours. Dont know if that is still the case or if they have caught up with haribo sold elsewhere. In UK there is some fruit juice and they use lovely things like beetroot and carrots and other lovely vegetables for the colours so a bag of UK Haribo counts as part of your 5 a day vegetables.
You might get traditional PEAR DROPS recommended, boiled sweets that are meant to taste of pears but for some reason taste exactly like nail polish remover....
Yep blackcurrant and liquorice are good. There’s a whole host of traditional British toffees that I reckon are better than the ones you tried. Off the top of my head (mind the dandruff!) rum and butter, chocolate caramels, wine gums, pear drops, chocolate limes, mintoes, chocolate eclairs, spearmint chews, blackjacks, jelly babies, liquorice allsorts, cough candy, uncle Joe’s mintballs, & etc., etc.😬

MOOO! You have to be a mad cow not to like parma violets. Violet cremes are far nicer though but they are expensive and you only get them from fancy chocolatiers. They are chunky and have a crystallised violet petal on top but Lidl do a far cheap version at Christmas which are thin like an After Eight mint. Obviously the Lidl ones aren't as nice but for the price you can't complain. You can also get rose cremes at the fancy chocolatiers but for some reason this year Lidl changed them for pink gin ones, which weren't as nice.
6:40 you where talking about Bubblegum "soda" flavouring. In the UK, some people out a packet of those millions (and the strawberry flavour millions too) into a litre of Vodka, and mix it with lemonade to make a nice summer fruity vodka drink 👍🏼

You need to try Victory V's and Fisherman's Friends! Both are lozenges, the first is licorice and menthol flavour and the other is eucalyptus and menthol. Both are delicious and pungent. I've watched American friends try them and nearly die on the spot! 😱🤣 If you do try them, don't get the pastille version of the Victory V's cos' they lack oomph 😁

Why not try getting hold of seasonal sweets? Mostly that means easter and christmas and mostly it means chocolate but it could be interesting. For easter there is mini eggs, creme eggs, caramel eggs, etc. Lindt and Kitkat bunnies, hot cross buns, the mini egg cakes that cadburys do, there is also simnel cake that I've never eaten in my life.

Parma Violets aren't a popular product. They're classic, but lots of people hate them, I think mostly because they're absolutely foul. Lots of brits have a similar reaction to US 'wintergreen' flavoured products, because that is pretty much exclusively used in cleaning products here.

Violet cremes and rose cremes are what I send to my sister every year for her birthday. We both love them.

Wham! bars today barely even resemble the flavour they had in the early 90's, when they were delicious albeit probably carcinogenic.
I just said the same. They were much bigger and better back in the day. The 'crystals' were also much more sour.
