Yep, i think i see the problem here. It’s about getting this guys ego stroked. i.e. i’m the greatest trucker in the world and you’re shit. Wrong personality type for a trainer.

We would need to see how he worked with the trainee.
Cuz I myself have come across different types of trainers.
When I was "working" at a freight company (didn't pass my probation month.was only a trainee.still got paid.) , there were two driver trainers. One was really cool, down to earth, never raised his voice. We would have conversations about other stuff that didn't have to do about the job. After he would already tell me about the job, the truck(pre trip, post trip, driving , etc....as well as filling out the paperwork for pick ups) He really made me feel comfortable. He was like me.... HISPANIC.
and then there was the other trainer.......a black guy. He......was a fucking headache. He would start raising his voice and eventually yelling for little mistakes. When I went to take my road test, the other drivers had warned me about this guy. They told I was very lucky to have gone with the other instructor. For example, he got me driving and wanted ME to do the first couple stops. The GPS guided us a certain way that when we got to where it told us......I was lost. He was like "pretend I'm not even here. What would you do in this situation, being lost".
So what would I do? I would pull over, apply the parking brakes , and call the place that I'm delivering to. This asshole started raising his voice....."hey what are you doing??!! Come here , get back In here. Look. Just keep going down the street, the place is there!!!"
And ......the hiring supervisors were aware that at the time , I had very little experience driving truck and trailer (back in 2015. I had gotten my license in 2011. Just had some opportunities once in a while to drive. I had mostly driven 26 ft box trucks) and they still took me in because I had done ok on the truck and trailer road test.
Long story short I didn't make it.
Over time I came across jobs that mostly their fleet of trucks were made of class c and b box trucks. And a couple of semi trucks. They learned that I have a class A license and gave me the opportunity to drive a 53 ft when the main driver called in sick on a Saturday morning.was skeptical at first, wanted to keep sleeping. Lol. but thought this was a perfect opportunity to drive truck and trailer.took advantage of the 5am start time, knowing there would be way less 4 wheels than during the week. I rode along with a co-worker who didn't have a class a license and was just there to guide me to where I needed to go. The supervisors started putting me to drive on the weekends more and more and I learned to control the truck!! And eventually, by myself.
      Saturdays from 5am to 10-11am.
      Sundays from noon to 6pm.
I still had my two days off during the week.
I can now drive with the same ease and comfort as driving a car.
Junior seems cool. we have to see exactly how he taught this guy that Didn't make it. If he's being cool and telling you beforehand how HE works .....in HIS truck and tells you in the right tone, then listen to everything he has to say to you. Once you learn everything there is to know about the job and when you are on your own, THEN you can work by YOUR RULES when you get your truck. You might even learn a few tricks on your own along the way. For example, "cheating" on your routes to make some time to take additional breaks/naps.
(Which I have done on a couple of jobs already)
Unless he's a complete asshole , then maybe you can tell him he's "overtraining, dramatic, EGO....."
If he's already telling you to set your alarm at a certain time, get your ass to sleep so you're not dragging in the morning. And take advantage of the early drives...with less 4 wheels to deal with!!! Try to put YOUR part into the training, while your under his wing. once you have learned and have your own truck, then work your pace. tell the dispatchers you want to start at 7-9am.
      Fucking lazy whining/bitching fucks.

I’m sorry, what? Were you the individual hiring him, or were you going to be his supervisor?? I don’t think you should be a trainer, buddy. You made this ENTIRE video about YOU... when it should have been entirely about HIM. Your responsibility as a trainer is to figure out how to communicate with him and get on a common ground. Sounds like you didn’t do that at all; and instead wanted him to be a duplicate of yourself. The man signed up to be a trucker... clearly he “wanted” this. You seem like a cool dude and I’m sure you’re a great driver... but training might not be for you. Seems like you’d be much better off doing things at your own pace

    • @antonioelaventurero9117
      @antonioelaventurero9117 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Trainee was a straight up lazy ass!
if you really want the job, you really want to learn , you get your ass up when you're supposed to get up!
He was dragging out of bed. Junior already had told him to set the alarm at a certain time. It was on the trainee to get enough rest to wake up early.
When you're riding in his truck , you listen to him! Ask questions, no matter how stupid they might seem. He will show you his way. But once you learn everything there is to know and you get YOUR truck....then you work at YOUR pace.
tell dispatch /supervisors that you want to wake up late and everything else you want. But not when you are the new kid on the block.
The people in charge of hiring were already kind enough to give the guy a shot at driving.checking His background, work experience, etc.
That's why they send him with someone who knows how things flow out in the road.
The trainee might have a good personality and all, maybe left a good impression with the managers. But when it comes to working......that's where he had to show if he really has it or not.
Junior won't be blowing smoke or throwing jabs at the trainee. He's going to tell it how it is.

+Josh Griffith Before you come out here make sure things are straight at home because the last thing you want to do is come out here and you not really focus on driving because of something going on back at home and I'mnot saying it wont happen you just want to keep it to a minimal.
Come out here and do what you have to do, ask questions, and most importantly pay attention to everything. When I say come out here and do what you have to do I mean come out here and get stuff done show the trainer you want to learn this work. Ask questions, I mean if you are asked to do something if it's not obvious then ask why and how to do it. Be clear on what the trainer asks of you or asks you to do something. You don't want to have an understanding totally different from what he's asking you to do. Lastly but not least pay attention. Ask him questions, pick his brain, ask him to show you how to do things and then tell him you want to do then yourself wether it may seem simple or not. Look at how things are done out here.
Two more important things get as much backing as you possibly can and pratice your pretrip as much as you can as well. Always look ahead as much as you can and watch your mirrors. Goodluck! 👍👍

Some people need to train you to LISTEN!
Trainer told him to set his alarm at a certain time. He didn't get up !! TWICE!!!!
      And he's dragging his ass!
And to top it off: he said he saw youtube videos to prepare himself.
If the supervisors are telling you that you will be going with this driver or THAT driver, they will tell you at what time to show up. Set your alarm. NO EXCUSES!
Ask as many questions as possible. No matter how stupid you think you may sound.
When you are done training and you get your own truck, you try to set your rules. tell dispatch/ supervisors that you want to be a LAZY ASS : Start late at 3pm, do little to NO WORK you don't want to get your hands dirty or sweat. GOOD LUCK .

heres a method most don't understand but I can tell you use: crawl, walk, run. Gotta learn how to crawl before you walk and walk before you can run bro. If someone does not show initiative and follow your rules on your truck to get trained properly then they do not need a CDL. I used to be a trainer in the cab business and I made my students drive for the two days training so they would know exactly what to do and when, its the same way you do things lol

Lazy asses apparently don't want to do any work at all!!
      Trainee was dragging!
Was told to set alarm at certain time, he chose not to wake up!
When you're riding with a trainer, you listen! Ask questions, no matter how stupid you think they might be.
When you are given YOUR TRUCK,
you tell the supervisors that you want to be LAZY.
that you don't want to wake up early
That all you want to do is DRIVE.
You don't want to push or pull pallets.
      Etc......
Highly doubt you will last in THIS job if you ask your supervisors to take it easy on you.
      You have medical conditions?
You see a doctor that examines potential new truck drivers.
They will tell you if you're qualified to operate commercial vehicles.
If you're perfectly fine and healthy
and you want to be LAZY, don't bother considering THIS profession if you have zero experience driving a big rig.
      There's more than only driving.
you have your OWN TRUCK(OWNER OPERATOR) after you have driven for some time and you can lease a truck ,
you can definitely choose how much work you want to do.

    • @antonioelaventurero9117

Looks like there's some LAZY WHINING 🐱🐱---SSIES here.
Waking up late 2 DAYS IN A ROW and DRAGGING!!!
      You want the Job?
      "Tomorrow.....come in at 3, 4,5, 6 AM."
(Whatever time they tell you to come in)
"You will be going with______" (Driver)
YOU ....are new to the job. They tell you to come in at a certain time to go with a driver that has his schedule having him start early, then you get up early to start learning!
It's on YOU🫵🫵🫵🫵 to set your alarm if you will be clocking in early to the time you think will be right for you to wake up and use the bathroom, eat breakfast, get dressed and then drive to the workplace. AND.....make sure you go to sleep at the right time......if you want the job!!!! That is.
You are riding in their truck, they will show you THEIR way of doing things. You listen amd take notes.
Ask as many questions as possible, no matter how stupid you think they might be.
Now if the trainer is being a hot tempered, shouting
      "Sargeant " , that's different.
Once you get your own assigned truck, then YOU get YOUR schedule set up to start your shift at a different time and in your truck, you do things YOUR way!
      LAZY PEOPLE....🤦🤦🤦

+Joshua Street well for starters congratulations on your training on obtaining your CDL. As for a company its hard to say what to look for exaclt because everyone is looking and wanting something different. I personally was looking at the training pay. What each company had to offer and then I would look at their ratings to see just how good of a trucking company they were. I looked at three different companies before choosing prime myself. I looked at STEVENS TRANSPORT, C.R. ENGLAND, WERNER, and PRIME. How I made my decision was pretty easy. I look at which company offered me the most for paid training then look at their background (read to see what people were saying about them) in my case Inwas leaning towards prime already because I used to load their trailers at TROPICANA. You have to decide what suits you and your needs. If you come to prime I wouldn't be able to train you or its hard to say that I would be able to because I always have a student with me. He's good on pretrip we worked on pretrip for hour in the heat we did a complete pretrip outside the truck. My point is a homeless guy is helping me learn pretrip the correct way. We're both ambitious about succeeding.I found out he's beyond pretrip he has a complete understanding of how the truck mechanically operates. He helped give me a better understanding beyond the pretrip while doing the pretrip.

I believe he will do fine with another trainer. Doesn't the company make the rules for both of you to follow? I do agree with you on one thing, when it's time for you to get up, you get up, unless it is something you came up with on your own. Do you really need to get up two hours early to do pre-trip inspection? Not getting enough sleep is unsafe. You should remember the student is going to be nervous enough, without you putting too much on them. No cruise control? Why not? When I use cruise control I am better able to see what's going on everywhere else. I already know not to use it in traffic. I only use it when I am out on the highway, and traffic is relatively light. Not use a GPS? Why not? Isn't that what you will use when you get out on the road? You must want the student to be unfamiliar with where to go. How can you remember if you don't do it yourself?

I work in construction and one of our drivers hooked his tag trailer up to his dump truck and forgot to open his air valves. He dragged it with the tires locked up from our shop to the job site about 10 miles. Must not have been watching his trailer..

The bad part about it is he has been driving for 30+ years and used to be owner operator over the road. Most boss just shakes his head and says how did he ever make it over the road.

Sometimes being too strict can make people feel uncomfortable and stunt their progress while in training. Now if he/she can't get up and do their pre trip means they don't want it. You did right by ending the training but be more open. Make them successful and safe. Things like no music and making someone read. That's not called for. Remember, students aren't kids. Treat a man like a man, not a child. Ultimately, you are still in control. Handle it man.

I know of no one including the military that doesn't use GPS. in fact it was created for military in the first place.. police and fire use it as well. your bias may be the GPS you use. get a solid one made for trucking they $600 or more. nothing worse than a GPS that tells you to go on a non truck road. also , you should look at a cross reference to. a map, google , or you the instructor. besides that. you are spot on. got to wake up early so you can be on time. to make sure you awake. TH-cam is good reference but you are his teacher now. TH-cam isn't there you are. there is an excellent pre trip on TH-cam right now but he should be looking at yours for reference. always check out new stuff. cruise control. never at start. got to learn. cruise control is nice but you have to know first. too much to feel out and learn to be dragging feet. sounds like a bad pairing and hopefully he will take what you said to heart on the next try. the fact that you saw it and did not continue and gave the feedback he needed without discouraging speaks of your wisdom as a trainer. cheers.

You mentioned police and fir uses GPS. True we do but you must first learn your cardinal directions and learn map reading. In my trainee's first learning phase I don't allow them to use GPS to teach them to learn their areas and directions. I was taught that way myself. I can understand why he does that.

Just found your VIDs. Awesome explanation. Good on you for kicking him off...the last VID you can clearly see he is not gonna keep two hands on the wheel and doesnt like that stick shift at all.....The good teachers, I believe, are the tough ones but who are fair....You sir, seem to be tough but fair.....Keep up the good work....Kinda hope that student decides to go track to driving a cab, cuz me driving the roads in a four wheeler dont wanna meet him on the road.

To me, it is both ways. I had trainers that wasn’t patient with me. But, I never gave my trainer a hard time. Some trainers assume you know what trucking is all about. But, the guy you kick off the truck deserved it. I watched the video with his hands of the wheel. I guess that why I’m frustrated with my backing cause I wanted to learn. You’re a good trainer some trainers just want the trainer pay.
