After 39 years I just gave up my CDL 3 weeks ago and all endorsements. My 48 state truckin and owner operator days have come to an end. Time to think about retiring and goin fishin, and star gazing, and photography, and kayaking, and ham radio, and breakin out the metal detector, gettin into my solar panel hobby, and gardening, and what ever else I feel like doing for the rest of my life. :)
Knight Transportation has one of the best employees I have ever seen... Susan is a huge asset to the company and a rare breed...Stay healthy and keep up the hard work...
After 36 hours with these ladies you can't help but love em. As the guy behind the curtain I must say filming each each episode gets better and better. Susan has got to be one of the hardest workers I have ever seen and Linda is a sincere social butterfly. Both tough as nails. So impressed with both of you!
Agree with all you say, but for the hardest worker. No. It's all in a days work for all truck drivers everywhere. The world believes we all sit on our backsides and get paid for it too. It's a hard way of earning a living. So many drivers go that extra mile to get the job done every single day. But people rarely see that effort so in their minds, it doesn't exist. I'm pleased that Linda made the effort to see for herself. As an ex- international driver I know first-hand how frustrating driving can be when you're always against a deadline - It's made me super-punctual by nature, and I now stick out in a crowd by always being on time - mores the pity.
I was scared to get my CDL til I watched Susans calm and kind demeanor. Thank you for the empowerment ma'am. Now Im only nervous because it's not going to be you who actually trains me. 😭😭😭 No doubt you will have many jewels in your heavenly crown.
drove for this company for 5 years, they taught me everything I needed to know about the trucking industry and the business aspects behind it all. Now I own my own Pete 389 running my own small business. anybody wants to get into driving and owner/operator status, this is the company right here for you
Susan is a great teacher, trucker, role model and a true professional. I have a lot of respect for professional drivers, they put up with so much b.s. and everyone of us rely upon them everyday for the stuff we use. Knight transport seems to be a pretty good outfit and its great getting the office people in touch with the ones who actually make the money. Good bonding and understanding of what it takes.
Susan is the epitome of what a truck driver should be. This is a great video it should empower any woman or any person anywhere to say they can do it if they want to. This is great that Knight is doing these ride alongs. It should definitely give each person doing them a new respect for what a driver does day in and day out. It should also give the driver a new respect for the job the person riding with them does as well as you are all getting to know one another. I'm a man with 15 years experience and I was thoroughly impressed with this video and enjoyed every bit of it. Thanks Knight for sharing this with us all.
And she's doing all that after fighting Cancer, and if you notice, she is wearing a "Life Belt" around her waist under her shirt. Prob has antibiotics and an insulin pump 24/7.
JNB 4L Susan is getting paid to make Knight look good. I'm sure she doesn't really check the tire pressure of every trailer she picks up. I'm sure she doesn't air up the tires under 95psi. This is nothing but a propaganda film. The trucking industry is a sad pathetic joke. It's a horrendous way to make a living. And it's because of companies like Knight and the other bigs that have ruined it. Hauling cheap freight because they have volume. Drives down the price of freight and this, that snowballs to the driver.
This experienced girl is so good at her job and does running repairs without batting an eyelid good for her, she's a star. Great film really enjoyed this
Susan, what an inspiration. I'm about to hit the road again. Did it briefly years ago and now I'm returning as I miss it. I had not considered Knight but I will. Watching your video gave me pointers and reminded me just how much I miss that lifestyle. Being single and no kids, it works for me! Thanks for the video.
Susan Hoagland... YOU ARE A FIGHTER! Searched in a dictionary a word that can identify your guts, found none to describe it, because it's huge! Here goes a solidarity hug from a former trucker.
Thanks, i think she already did, though the comment disappear. Anyway, wish you all the best. Good to see a company taking good care of their employees.
Susan is such a wonderful gal. Entering trucking isn't a cake walk, so having someone like Susan to show you the ropes and tips to make things easier is invaluable. To all my fellow truckers, keep your eye on the other guy and hammer down. "Eagle Claw " on the side. 👍👍
Awesome too see two strong modest ladies so kind and big hearted ❤ This is what I tried to teach my girls. Kindness is not weakness. Many blessing ladies.

This was excellent. I am considering the Knight trucking school. Very excited to get started. Susan seems like one of the best truckers you could learn from. Love her personality and she resourceful & a perfect example of a woman in trucking showing women are just as capable as men out there!

Susan s attitude blew me away... Some people would be ticked off with the mudflap or the air in tires or rude people.. Susan saying just kill them with kindness is the attitude you need.. Having gone thru the cancer treatment etc, Susan knows that you cant control all situations and she doesnt take things for granted. No matter what business you are in, you can learn a lot from just watching this short video... Life is too short to be stressing about stuff you cant control... I love the fact that the company has highest levels of management ride along.. The drivers love this. Knight seems like a good company to work for.
Hi. The driver is awsome, she is totally awsome, she pays attention to detail and would be a asset to any company she works for. great videos showing the positive side of trucking. Take care. Hawk out!
Nice job ladies. Linda, I know trucking seems like a monotonous job. But, like anything job you adjust and it becomes much easier over time. My hats off to Susan. Checking tire psi on all the tires takes a real dedicated employee.
Just saw this video. Susan seems like a genuinely sincere and good hearted person. I kinda detected a little sadness in her voice when she said she was single with no family left. No worries, Sue; you are respected and admired by legions of people everywhere. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you continue your recovery. God bless and take care!

always bring zipties and a stanley knife. if you blow a tire and it rips the brakeline , just fold and close it with a ziptie. then adjust the brake out manually on that wheel.. then you can drive it to closest service shop after changing the tyre. the most used tools of all.
Very nicely put together video. Little bit of humor added to help make this a better video. Susan takes her job and safety of the general public very serious, as do i. She does explain that yes, even if shippers are a little mean, they are what keeps us employed and try to tolerate and let it go. "Kill em with kindness". Well said. I'm glad Linda got a chance to see some of the issues we face each and everyday. Crawling traffic, trailer issues, shipping paper issues, and such. This is basically our house on wheels, day in and day out for most of the year. Keep up the great job Susan! I just wish more drivers out there, could follow your example, we have an image to give for our company and some out there, just don't even try. Thank you for your professionalism.
Nice to see how far trucking has come. Looks like the days of findin and grindin are history, a/c that actually works, and automatic transmissions... Makes me almost wish I was driving again... ALMOST ;-) Excellent video ladies, God Bless 0:-)
Susan Hoagland is my new hero!!! I would love to ride along with her, obviously I could learn a lot from her.....it appears she is always aware and prepared, a consummate professional. A strong lady and very sweet!! This is a fantastic video.
Go back to bed.......you're boring. Whether you know it or not, Women instructors are pretty damn good...as well as women truckers. Hey RONO? Have you ever been to school? Women teachers? Hello?? Maybe too much sleep when you shoulda been paying attention? Oh well one in every crowd.
Any woman that can drive a truck has my respect, I used to drive road trains here Down Under. The longest truck in the world period. Greetings from Down Under
Lady learns a real life lesson. People cut off a truck all the time, because they don't want to be behind it. They'll do anything to avoid being behind a truck, even drive dangerously for it - only to find there's always yet another truck in front of them and now there's an likely enemy behind them. Human nature! Gotta love it.
What a great video, awesome driver and passenger. So nice for you to share this. I'm starting in the trucking industry as soon as I figure out my 90 degree alley dock!!!! I blew it today , but nailed my pre-trip. Sure was cool to watch this, makes me know I am making the right choice.!!!!
Or killed if a big enough piece hits you. Why not drive it to the shop and have the mechanic do it? On the road I understand, but even then I just call the shop and they send tire service. If I know where tire shop is and it's close by I'll drive it over there.
Nick T. Great video. I work for a paving company and the only time we call the mechanics is when we can't fix it ourselves. More times than not. Mud flaps and tire inflation are mandatory where I work
Nick T. : You don't understand, drivers are an independent lot and will do it themselves if it's possible, not least because if anything is wrong, it's always the driver that gets the blame.
i would say sitting in front of tire while filling it is good way to get killed. having long hose between tyre and gauge is lot safer, so you can be out of the kill zone of tyre.
Robert Haag Amen!! Amen!! Came across as a truly lovely person!! She made me think Really hard about trucking!! Coming from a wife of a 41 year Veteran long haul driver for YRC(Yellow Roadway Freight/Corporation)!! We love truckers!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great video. My dad drove since we were babies I'm 47 it was nice to see the work that goes into it. He would take us as toddlers it was fun to sleep in the bunk and go to diners fun memories. Didn't realize all the work they have to do and check. Great driver too. They are lucky to have her! Very positive.

if you blow a tire and it rips the brakeline , just fold and close it with a ziptie. then adjust the brake out manually on that wheel..
then you can drive it to closest service shop after changing the tyre.
the most used tools of all.
Thank you lady's! For Sharing your STORY! Will See you Next time!! Happy Trucking!!
You guys had beautiful chemistry, thanks for a very enjoyable video.
Thank you for watching.
God bless women who drive for a living
Thank you for your professionalism.
hope to have a driver trainer like her...very approachable and down to earth!!!!!!
@charles hello,how are you doing
Nice to see how far trucking has come. Looks like the days of findin and grindin are history, a/c that actually works, and automatic transmissions... Makes me almost wish I was driving again... ALMOST ;-) Excellent video ladies, God Bless 0:-)
Loved this video. Very capable and kind.
Susan Hoagland is my new hero!!! I would love to ride along with her, obviously I could learn a lot from her.....it appears she is always aware and prepared, a consummate professional. A strong lady and very sweet!! This is a fantastic video.
Mine too
yawn
Go back to bed.......you're boring. Whether you know it or not, Women instructors are pretty damn good...as well as women truckers. Hey RONO? Have you ever been to school? Women teachers? Hello?? Maybe too much sleep when you shoulda been paying attention? Oh well one in every crowd.
I agree
Any woman that can drive a truck has my respect, I used to drive road trains here Down Under. The longest truck in the world period. Greetings from Down Under
Lady learns a real life lesson.
People cut off a truck all the time, because they don't want to be behind it.
They'll do anything to avoid being behind a truck, even drive dangerously for it - only to find there's always yet another truck in front of them and now there's an likely enemy behind them.
Human nature! Gotta love it.
Iv seen a car cut one off next you know one behind one in front one on side they coudnt go no were
Susan has the perfect attitude for driving - and I wish her all the best with her remission. I really enjoyed this OTR video...thanks!
Susan, if you were a soldier you would probable be a general,i hope you have a long and pain free life,so much respect from the UK.
Sending love to Susan from South Africa.
Tip for anyone watching: When airing up a tire like she is @8:10 , always wear eye protection so in case the tire blows your not blinded by shrapnel!
Mud flaps and tire inflation are mandatory where I work
Nick T. : You don't understand, drivers are an independent lot and will do it themselves if it's possible, not least because if anything is wrong, it's always the driver that gets the blame.
i would say sitting in front of tire while filling it is good way to get killed. having long hose between tyre and gauge is lot safer, so you can be out of the kill zone of tyre.
ponycar24fan thx !
Susan is consummate professional knight should be very proud to have her as an employee.
