    The Alpine PSS-23WRA Powered System Upgrade for 2018 and newer Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL includes a powered 8 inch subwoofer, 4 channel amplifier, replacement tweeters as well as all the wiring needed for a complete plug and play installation. The amplifier boosts the audio signal to the factory sound bar and dash speakers, while the replacement tweeters offer clearer and brighter high notes. The subwoofer and amplifier mount neatly under the passenger seat for a clean, factory like professional installation.

    BEST INSTRUCTION VIDEO EVER
    Aside from the last few pages which had the Amp & Sub settings, I pretty much ignored the factory install manual and followed this video.
    Thanks Quadratec!!!

    this was a great tutorial, thank you! I did it in 4 hours but lost 45 minutes running to the hardware store to get a T50 bolt for the seats, don't forget that! Also, getting the speaker bracket holes to align with the seat bolt holes was extremely tough! the front right one especially needed some bending, not sure why it doesn't just fit perfectly since it's machine cut. That was my only hold up, everything else went as smooth as the tutorial

    So......
    I'm an apartment dweller and had to do all of this work in the parking lot out front of my building. That being said the install took about 2 hours as mentioned here in the video (even with the difficulties I ran in to.
    The dash and radio came out/off as mentioned (please use a panel tool as mentioned to remove the parts). Not sure why the drivers knee/kick plate needed to come off (pointless) nothing was going on the drivers side.
    There are a few things/issues not shown here that I ran in to during the install:
    The power cable is long AF. Be prepared to stash the excess. The are 2 drain plugs in the passenger side floor pan. I picked the drain plug that was not directly under the seat for running the power cable through. I did as the video instructs and ran the power cable down an existing bundle of wires from the battery, popped a hole in the plug, ran the cable through the hole, and zip tied it in place. Easy!
    The hard parts:
    I couldn't get the passenger seat fully out. The clips (wiring harness) were impossible to remove/unhook so I removed the T-50 bolts and laid back the passenger seat I worked within the room I had at this point. Be ready for this situation if it presents itself; you will have room to move the seat back a bit and tip it in to the back seat without damaging the seat attachments and wires.
    Running all the cables were as easy as shown. Pulled the carpet back, removed the AC duct ran the wires along the underside of the center console, used a long zip tie to fish the wires through the dash. The wires all set up and clip in as shown. Labeled clearly, self explanatory.
    I reassembled the dash as shown. I have 2018 JLU and the space between the firewall and the back of the radio was tight with very little space but I made it all work without forcing!
    The real pain was setting the sub in place and getting the freaking seat back and bolted down. The frame for the sub is a little screwy and, well, for a lack of better terms didn't fit. I managed to get the front seat and sub brackets in and mounted first. I had to remove the back bracket from the top of the sub (4-small chrome Phillips head screws) and bent the bracket in to place, mount the bracket and seat to the floor, remount the bracket to the sub. The, the seat remounting part was the toughest and has caused me to worry about pinching the cables under the seat. We shall see.
    I ran the bass booster cable in to the glove box.
    Fired up the Jeep and adjusted the eq as to not rattle the teeth out of my head.
    Hope this helps!

    Caution! You need to disconnect BOTH black battery leads from the main battery and each other!! There is a second 12v battery under the main for the start/stop feature. Leaving the two attached to each other will leave a full 12v running throughout the Jeep.

    I installed the system today on my 2022 jeep gladiator rubicon with the 8.4 dash and well it didnt work, everything plugs in like normal but all the speakers sound very bad, a lot of static and the sub doesn’t work, now if I connect the subwoofer connector going to the dash to one of the front or rear speaker plugs the subwoofer turn on and sounds great but the interior speaker wont work, I removed the T harness and connected the oem back to the radio and all the speakers work like usual, again I checked everything and connected again this kit and well again a lot of static like if your 0.01 off on the radio station type of static , I think its the actual alpine crossover for the speakers, it might be faulty, so dont know if I should return them or just call customer support and see what they say

  • @Aroundtheworld1019
    @Aroundtheworld1019 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I agree, if it truly works well and sounds great, it is worth it for those who didn’t want a sub taking up trunk space. My question is how much vibration does this add to the passenger seat/is it worth the sound upgrade?

    • @bgj1010
      @bgj1010 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Read the full description of the product. It's insane power and additional tweeters and sub to fill the gaps the factory system is missing. The sub now being under the seat won't vibrate as it's mounted securely with seat bolts and it's suspended. You'll still have bass with top off, unlike the factory upgraded system. Ordered mine yesterday, can't wait. I've had Alpine in all my vehicles. It's very high quality stuff.

      That groumet he popped out of the floor to get the power thru goes straight to the exposed under side of the Jeep. It's part of the self draining floor mat kit. I would find another way inside the cab instead of that.

    • @thomasrossi31
      @thomasrossi31 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Crazy...seems well designed. But running a power lead through a water drain & not using weather pack harnesses... especially in a vehicle that is prone to getting wet... roof leaks, off reading, surprise rain shower. Alpine should’ve thought of these conditions during R&D.

    • @rob_quadratec
      @rob_quadratec 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Scott, The grommet that the power wire runs through does indeed go straight through to the under side of the Jeep, however, it is not part of the self draining floor mat kit. This grommet is found under the carpet below the passenger seat. It does not interfere with the drain found in the Mopar all weather floor mats.
      Alpine designed this kit to be installed this way, as it is much easier to route the power cable to the amplifier this way, rather than running through the firewall. They did however provide plenty of length in the wiring harness that you could run it a different way if you choose to.

      That's a great question Diego, however it's nearly impossible to "show" just how great the sound quality improves on TH-cam. The audio quality would only be as good as the speakers on your phone / tablet / computer that you're watching the video on.
      Trust me when I say that there is an immediately noticeable improvement to the entire audio profile with this system over the stock audio setup. The high notes become clearly defined, and the subwoofer really fills out the lack of bass found in the base audio system.

      Alpine worked with Jeep to design the premium audio system found in the new JL. JEEP is the one that specified what they wanted in the base audio system to meet a number of factors (price / design / marketing / etc.). Alpine recognized that there were shortcomings with the base system, and that is what this system is meant to improve on.
      Improving on the shortcomings that the OEM builds into their vehicles for one reason or another is really what the entire aftermarket industry is all about, don't your agree?
