Not only is Labyrinth one of my favourite childhood films, but I also have a very personal connection to it. After my dad's cousin's passing in 2012, I inherited the necklace worn by David Bowie in Labyrinth. It turns out that my dad's cousin (who I loved very much) worked on the film and hit it off with Bowie, who gifted him the necklace. Everytime I see people express appreciation for the worm, or the old man with the bird on his head, it warms my heart because that's what my dad's cousin worked on.
What an amazing thing to read. I have loved that little worm ever since I first watched Labyrinth as a child and in my 40s I still think he's the sweetest creature ever. Hold on to the necklace and never give it to anyone else ❤
Wow you are SO lucky! Worn by the legend David Bowie himself 👨🏻🎤😍 Am a huge fan, and actually have one of Ludo’s horns, as my dad was a model maker and had worked on lots of things and made connections. Labyrinth reminds me of when I was a teenager- how I wished I was Sarah! Now my Grandchildren watch it ❤️ I live in London and didn’t realise the bridge scene was filmed here! I will HAVE to find it now! 😍
OMG 😮 This is my absolute all-time favorite film because it has EVERYTHING in it: light horror, fantasy, handmade effects, best atmosphere, humor, love, wonderful friends, incredibly great ideas and last but not least a great score and great songs by the great David Bowie. The ending of the film is one of the best I've ever seen and the characters are just awesome, especially Sir Dydimus. I remember that as a teenager, after the film, I borrowed the soundtrack as an LP from the school library bus, copied it onto a MC tape and listened to it over and over again on my Walkman while I rode my BMX bike around the area. I saw the movie first on Betamax Video, later on VHS, then I owned 2 DVD Versions and now 2 BluRay Versions. For all these reasons, this film is and remains my No. 1 and after that come films like Jaws 1+2, Highlander, The Crow, A Nightmare On Elm Street 1+3, Trick'r'Treat, Fright Night 1+2, Evil Dead 2, Braindead ('Dead Alive' in America), The Blob (1988), Bill & Ted 1-3 and so on. So thank you for this wonderful post 🙏 Maybe I should think about traveling to there, too, because it's not soooo far away from Köln 😁
I was obsessed with labyrinth as a kid and never in a million years did I imagine would be able see videos showing the filming locations of these iconic scenes. Amazing.
He’s been dead for over 8 years. How long are you going to keep leaving that comment on anything related to him? If you’ve got nothing else to offer then offer that instead: nothing.
I think you two should be Jareth and Sarah for Halloween this year. I grew up with this film and I have nothing but happy memories of it. I think if I had to pick a favorite scene, it'd be the ballroom fantasy/"As The World Falls Down". Jim Henson was a wonderful human being, as well as a great talent. I wish he knew how much love there is for this film (and The Dark Crystal).
I think like most people of my generation Labyrinth was my introduction to David Bowie A few years back I rented the DVD from my local library and I still felt the same magic I felt when I first saw it as a kid
I'd watch the labyrinth on repeat on VHS I was so obsessed with that movie. I would wear out the VHS tape then somehow return it and rent it out again. There's so much to love about that movie.
A fun although brief adventure. I was fortunate enough to have seen Bowie in concert back in the 80's on the Serious Moonlight Tour. RIP legend, musical genius, one of my all-time favorites.
Thank you for visiting this amazing location, Labyrinth is my childhood and cannot get enough of it. It also shows how beautiful England is! Absolutely stunning.
Such a sweet and wholesome video. Best film ever - Bowie, Jim Henson, George Lucas, Terry Jones - what a team. Nothing beats practical sets and animatronics
I clicked on this notification so fast! Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies that still stick with me even to this day from my childhood. That, Dark Crystal and Never-Ending Story. Yes, I'm always going to be a Jim Henson/Henson Studios fan. Labyrinth had some amazing music and Sarah's dress from the masquerade scene is still something I'd love to eventally make just to say I did it. To this day, I still say "Ello" to people too. That little worm is amazing. I had the fortunate joy of seeing my favorite character from the film, Sir Didymus, in person for the puppet at the puppetry museum in Atlanta when we went for the Dark Crystal exhibit and I had no clue they also would have some Labyrinth stuff there. I fan girled so hard at that and took so many pictures and video of him. It was in fantastic conditon still and will forever be something I cherish. Also, rest well David Bowie. Gone, but never forgotten. ❤❤❤
I was born in 1971. I fell in love with Jennifer Connelly when I aw this film. Not even Bowie's hilarious spray-on pants could distract me from Jennifer.
I was born May 6 1976 so I was 10 in 1986 when this movie came out in theaters. It at first didn't do well with mix review, but over times it becomes a cult classic. Thanks Mike for sharing this. Rest in peace 🕊️ David Bowie.
Labyrinth is my go-to movie when I'm feeling down and need something to watch that I know will take my mind off things AND leave me with a warm heart. I had no idea the opening scenes were filmed in England and now a visit to that park is definitely on my bucket list (I'm English, if that wasn't obvious...!) I'm glad you had such fun running over the bridge and it's cool to see it from other angles and see that it's actually grassy ON the bridge itself, and isn't bare stone. Thank you!
A child hood dream come true! Labyrinth is a classic to remember and seeing Jessica run across the bridge multiple times made me smile. Thank you Grimm's that was an amazing adventure!!
Another killer video!!! I saw Labyrinth when it opened at our local Drive-In. I was 11 years old. My kids both love the film as well and we watch it together yearly. I’ve got the movie poster framed up in our living room. Anyway always great work! R.I.P. David Bowie & Jim Henson
I absolutely adore the film, Labyrinth. I am also a David Bowie fan. I love Jim Henson films. To me, Labyrinth is magical. It's a timeless classic that can be enjoyed by all ages. :)
I remember watching this movie when it premiered at a Drive In theater as a kid with some friends and neighbors and their parents, it was also my introduction to David Bowie, both the actor and the singer, love him ever since. One of my favorite movies ever along with The Dark Crystal, both Jim Henson masterpieces, they made my childhood in the 80's a very special time. This video feels like my grown up self giving that kid a hug, thank you for that.
I just saw that movie last year and David Bowie was perfect as the Goblin King. I can't imagine no one else playing that role. I loved that scene that he's singing and dancing with the baby, that song is amazing. Glad you got this video together, It was well worth it you two.
This movie is a national treasure for anyone of any age. Terrific job guys in bringing the magic back and taking us back in time to this beloved movie.
Great pick of locations! Labyrinth is such a legendary movie. The songs were playing. I'm my mind when I was watching this. Today's youth need more fun movies like this one.
Best movie ever I'm 42 now , so I was the perfect age to watch it when it came out ...I know the whole movie word for word , I still watch it with my 10 year old daughter and can't wait to show the grandkids ...❤❤❤❤❤ absolutely love all of it 😊😊
This movie’s soundtrack is in my playlist ;) “Goblin King Goblin King wherever you may be, come and take this child far away from me” Who doesn’t love this movie? ♥️🦉
One thing i really love: the soundtrack you play over her running in the rain changes the atmosphere completely... much as I love 'Underground' this other one (i think it's 'Into the Labyrinth'?) makes the scene way more sinister and a taste of what's to come. Thank you so much for the dedication to travel to both locations. I've seen photos before but on video is something else.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing this! I used to dream about running through that park like Sarah, confronting the Goblin King! Y'all out there making my dreams come true!!
Labyrinth is my all time favourite childhood movie 😍🙌🏻 I can watch it literally everyday and still love it ! Jim Henson & David Bowie are heroes of mine , loved this vlog guys , really dear to my heart 🤎🔮🦉
Thank you for this video! This was so well-made and fun to watch. I love how you interpose the current shots with the exact scenes in the movie. Your enthusiasm for what you do is infectious. I'm looking forward to watching your other videos!
I was born in '86, so the year Labyrinth came out. I eventually watched it in the early 90s on VHS and it became one of my favorite films as a kid. I bugged my parents to buy the tape and they did. I must've worn it out.
This is why I subscribed. You both take us back to the best of what retro, pop culture goodness had to offer (and still does!) from every genre. From Horror to sci-fi, to family fantasy, to celebrities we adore, this channel brings it home! Thank you.
I grew up in West Wycombe, the monuments were fake I never saw them there growing up. I love the Labyrinth I never get tired of watching it and David Bowie no one could replace him. I heard talk about a remake you can't remake this film the same as Rocky horror should never be messed with
I agree never a remake, I think the best thing they could ever attempt to do would be vague reference/crossover to the Labyrinth world in a separate fantasy, like for example a new Dark Crystal series where we see Skeksis inventing Eternal Stench and sending it as a gift to other planets, or Aughra's planetarium including a Labyrinth model.
I love this movie and David Bowie was an artist of amazing talent. I was able to see him three times in concert and I will never forget the shows he put on. Thank you for showing us the filming location and telling this story.
Anything that is a collab of Henson and Froud, I love! Thanks for this! AWESOME! One of my favorite movies EVER! (I'm a custom doll maker, and you KNOW that I made a Sarah and Jareth!) Labyrinth was the first movie that I went to without parental supervision. LOL I took my sister. She was terrified and creeped out. I was in awe! All these years later, she despises this movie, and I watch it again and again. Finally shared it with my young adult kids this year, and they're all artists too, and they said that they had mixed feelings of "cringe" and "understanding why I loved it so much!"
😮 you have to mention my favorite movie that came out the year I was born!!! ❤ love it!!! Definitely love it!! David Bowie will always be remembered for this movie.
So glad you all made it over there to film this. I remember you all visiting the Jim Henson exhibit in Atlanta, and seeing how touched Jessica was to see Ludo on display.✨💜✨
I love that movie too. Labyrinth is so unique, Bowie no words. I would recommend a book from Brian Froud, designer of the goblins, amazing art. His son played the baby. There's also a book from Froud about the dark crystal, where he was involved. No words Bowie, Jim Henson, Brian Froud so talented people.
Same, I always saw Labyrinth as the more family-friendly version of Dark Crystal. If Dark Crystal had been less negatively reviewed for being too scary at the time, I wonder if Jim Henson might have dared to make Labyrinth a bit darker.
Jim Henson is an unsung master and Labyrinth was a master piece. Another great video. I’m not a nostalgic person for my childhood but a lot of the movies sets you visit where definitely part of my childhood. Looking forward to the next one.
I’ve not watched much of your videos, but my husband loves them. He sent this to me earlier because Labyrinth has been one of my favorite movies since I was 4. I’m 34 now & in a Labyrinth fan club facebook group! 😊 I thought this was SO cool. I’ll have to check out more of your content. Thanks for filming this! ❤
@grimmlifecollective Welcome back to the UK you two! We just moved to the UK from Florida and absolutely LOVE it here! There is definitely something magical about this place! Labyrinth is one of my childhood favourites so it was great to see these locations in your video! Hope to see you around more! Cheers!
I'm a 2000s baby but luckily my parents brought this into my life as a kid and it has since been my all time favourite movie. Parents passed down great taste if i do say so myself haha
I literally just watched this, yet again for the billionth time, on Peacock. Mr. Henson was killing it in the 80's. This was just 4 years after The Dark Crystal...
You put a lot of work into researching these locations, as well as traveling and filming. I'm so glad you did this. It was a magical movie from my youth.
First off beautiful video. Thx for sharing. And it’s also one of my favorites. I even named my 2nd son Toby and when he was born he wore a red and white striped onesie too. All the nurses loved it. lol. Also Wendy and Brian froud had their son Toby in the movie as the baby. They also worked on dark crystal. Another favorite movie.
Great video - especially when the swan was swimming in the exact same spot as in the movie. You know, it reminds me of the time I BSed my way into Pinewood Studios in the summer of 1985. I was 19 years old and I had an appointment to meet Roy Field, who contributed to the effects of Superman the Movie, and of course Labyrinth. Within a minute of meeting him, Field could sniff that I was just a movie-obsessed kid, but he kept the meeting going and was extremely kind and forthcoming. He showed me what he was working on re Labyrinth, then he took me on a tour of some of the soundstages. I was actually allowed to go on to a large Aliens set - specifically, the corridors of one of the ships. Then, he said goodbye and put me into the hands of another SPFX fellow - who turned out to have been a Kubrick crew member on 2001. He showed me around some more of the studio (including walking past Jim Henson’s office - he wasn’t in that day), and then my visit ended. That was nearly 40 years ago, but I still have vivid memories of the experience. I’m sure it wouldn’t be quite as easy to get into the studio now...
What a beautiful first location in particular. I just found out the location was also used for a film adaptation of a book written in my home town. My sister is 14 years older than me, so I got the relationship straight away. I was little older than Toby when it came out and I saw it for the first time. This film is absolute magic. It is a great influence on my gothic interest and art to this day.
Oh jess you are my spirit animal. You have the best vibes. You both do. I feel like if we ever met we would have a great experience. You guys are so warm and inviting. Jess running across the bridge though absolutely gave me chills. I’ve loved this movie since I was little.
My absolute favorite movie of all time. I hunted down and built a cg model of the actual labyrinth and have a few pictures of it during creation. I plan to build a miniature of the throne room next year to fit the David Bowie action figure. I would love to see that place in real life.
Absolutely one of my favorites of all time too! I fell in love with these magical creatures and locations seeing it in the theater back in the 80s! The goblins specifically inspired my love of monsters and horror.
I enjoy your content .. I can’t believe you was in Wycombe ! It’s 10 mins from where I live .. and to learn this was the filming location is just amazing ! Thankyou .. keep up the great videos 🙂👍👍👍👍
Haven't seen this movie in years and don't honestly remember much about it. However, I know I enjoyed it very much. At that time I wanted that hair Bowie was sporting. Wicked cool for rocking out on stage.

Make a youtube video about your dad's cousin and show us the necklace! Please.
Labyrinth, Legend, and The Neverending Story were my childhood trifecta. Man, to be a kid curled up on the sofa watching them was just magic.
@TxofficialGrimmlifecolle-lv8ph why don't you just take your scams off this platform?
Saw them all on the big screen. The Dark Crystal, Flight of the Navigator, D.A.R.Y.L., Last Starfighter, it was an amazing time to be a kid
@@veganbadass Dont forget Legend as well!
@@demonoid7469 Yes, I added to the films that Boogiedaddy had already mentioned
This was a time when they weren't relying on CGI. It shows in the pride these people took to make an enduring movie.
Labyrinth is a classic. If you're a 70s or 80s baby you got into this film when it came out. It was a great time in cinema.
Even my daughter born in o6 is obsessed. Has always loved this movie and David Bowie. Knows every word to the movie. Classic 🤩
I still have my original ticket stub
It got such unfairly negative reviews at the time, I'm so glad history has been kind to Labyrinth and turned it into a cult classic.
I was born the day it came out! I was obsessed with it growing up. My dad had recorded it off the TV on vhs, so I'd watch it on repeat ❤❤
I think Jennifer Connelly was the reason I liked it.

Labrynth was such an awesome movie. David Bowie was such an amazing actor who would be sorely missed. Thank-you for this incredible journey. Happy 🎃.
I love time travel movies and film locations they are so stunning. Happy Halloween 🎃🎃🎃🎃👻👻👻👻
@grimmlifecollective Welcome back to the UK you two! We just moved to the UK from Florida and absolutely LOVE it here! There is definitely something magical about this place! Labyrinth is one of my childhood favourites so it was great to see these locations in your video!
Hope to see you around more! Cheers!
DEFINITELY WORTH THE WAIT ! THANKS GUYS ! ONE OF MY FAVORITES ! 😍
This is still not only one of my favorite childhood movies but is still one of my favorites ❤
I'm a 2000s baby but luckily my parents brought this into my life as a kid and it has since been my all time favourite movie. Parents passed down great taste if i do say so myself haha
Good time to watch this video, in the evening! Unfortunately i haven't seen this movie, but i enjoyed what i saw here. Thank you for your great work
The Grimms Rock 🪨 🎸!!! I'm so happy you guys are safe and cranking out some kickass UK 🇬🇧 videos 📹!!!
a Classic film, i now sit with my kids and we watch this every xmas time, thanks for the time and effort to show these locations
I literally just watched this, yet again for the billionth time, on Peacock. Mr. Henson was killing it in the 80's. This was just 4 years after The Dark Crystal...
The Dark Crystal is not allowed to be mentioned in my house
The dark crystal, creepiest movie of all time!!!
I still get anxious watching it at 43
@@kasie680 Yup, it can absolutely get ducked. Refused to be around friends when they were discussing the series adaptation. Whole lotta nope.
@@kasie680 Try watching The Dark Crystal streaming show LOL
@@raetime2350 😂😂👍
Oh my gosh, I have memorized nearly this entire movie. I’ve watched it so many times. So happy you guys made this !
What a classic excellent film brings back happy memories 😊
You put a lot of work into researching these locations, as well as traveling and filming. I'm so glad you did this. It was a magical movie from my youth.
Never clicked so fast ,perfection as always ,thanks guys 👍💪😉
First off beautiful video. Thx for sharing. And it’s also one of my favorites. I even named my 2nd son Toby and when he was born he wore a red and white striped onesie too. All the nurses loved it. lol. Also Wendy and Brian froud had their son Toby in the movie as the baby. They also worked on dark crystal. Another favorite movie.
One of my favorite movies💖💖💖🥰🥰 this is an amazing treat! Thank you for showing this!!
Love love love this movie!! Has everything in it…including Bowie, !! Who could ask for more?!!
This is one of my favorite movies as a child still is growing up. I love this so much ❤
One of David Bowies best movie. RIP Sir David Bowie, we miss you:))
My daughter loves this film. It's now generational ❤
I am so artistic. I definitely want to build a model Of the castle
Never heard of this movie. Feels like I've seen this video before. Feels this way with most of your videos now.
The labyrinth is in my top 3 movies ever!!! David Bowie was phenomenal in the movie. Man I’d love to go to these places some day
I do miss David Bowie!!! I need to watch the movie again...
