  • How to respond to rude people: Rude people are the worst aren't they?
    When someone is rude to you, you get an urge to strike back by cursing or swearing at them. But, you don't want to do that. Cursing and swearing is the realm of the unsophisticated and inarticulate.
    In this video, learn TWO TECHNIQUES that will let you get a little dig or jab at someone who's being rude to you so that you make them feel a bit bad about their crappy behavior, and do that without going into the gutter.

    I find that taking a step back and cool off before I respond to a rude comment online really helps me come from a place of understanding instead of anger.

    Love it! A little snarky trolly but respectful firm defense against rudeness from others. If they just met you or don't know you - most likely their rudeness is a "shit test" to determine if you are more alpha or beta... if they've consistently been rude to you, this is because you allowed them in some way or another (perhaps you ignored their remarks , chuckled and accepted them as not rude when they actually are, or they have strong prejudice against you). Regardless, you can always speak up for yourself - it's never too late, and may even shock them in a way that will help you and others...and possibly even them to realize they were actually rude when they weren't aware of it! Rudeness can be subjective for both parties - speaking up clarifies the reality.

    Worse when it's someone you know (your own flesh and blood)I won't point no elbows but theirs this guy that treats his gf like royalty, but he's rude with everyone else. Maybe it's a phase he's going through. It's like it happened overnight.

      It sure is, but a part of it isn't that the world has changed, but as we get older we start to see the world (and people) as they really are.

    Hey Min. I've been watching your videos and reading some of your books. However, I've only learned how to deal with one-on-one confrontations. I am in a discriminatory neighborhood where an entire circle of adults gossips about and verbally attacks something important to my family. While we usually get attacked by individuals or pairs, they use social threats (like "everyone knows about _____") and onlooker support. I have tried to explain using reason and evidence, but the group effect seems to render this effective only for the extremely open-minded few. I have yet seen from your videos and books how to deal with situations like this. I am wondering how to argue with multiple people at once, and, most importantly, stop the gossips circling around. I totally understand if this is outside the scope of your expertise, but I was wondering if I could borrow some of your wit.

    • @Artofverbalwar
      @Artofverbalwar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're absolutely right, reason and evidence doesn't usually work in most situations. Reason and evidence only serves to embolden those who would attack you. I'd be interested to know more specifics about these group situations, do you mind PMing me at info@artofverbalwar.com and giving me more detail? I think this is an important subject!
