Great to see another world first from Autogefuhl.I thought the Arona would be a bit sharper looking on the front but it's much better looking than the Audi Q2.Be interested to see how it drives.Next up for Seat the Ateca Cupra it's been a busy year for Seat and their only getting better.Great review.
SEAT transferred the design of the Ibiza to the Ateca in a very good way!👍 The superior interior and the exterior especially with the “X” on the c- pillar looks great in combination with the dynamic FR version! I would always choose the FR package and the 1.5TSI for a small SEAT. Again no CUPRA…😥
thanks! Hehe yeah let's make it even more correct: So far the Q3 was built in Martorell, but they have moved the production to Hungary now. The Q2 shared parts with the Arona, but is built in Ingolstadt - now we have it, I think ;)
Not sure about the roof in a different color. Need to get used to it, at the moment it seems a bit like an Ibiza frankenstein. Also I don't get why they don't offer 4wd as an option. It will sell well, at least here in Spain.
15:55 Actually the bags on the rear part of the front seats are equipment depending on the trim level. In other reviews ( eg. th-cam.com/video/sboigAcngzM/w-d-xo.htmlm15s ) you can see there are bags on the seats. The same thing could work for more practicality features, like the mesh pocket in the passenger's side, the straps on the boot sides etc.
great looking car but they should go 2l tdi and awd...and what's with the FAKE exhaust??!!!! if it's FAKE they shouldn't do it. you should make a petition against FAKE exhaust tips.
Okay listen now.. The reason why (in most cases) the real exhaust pipe isnt fixed on the outside ''fake'' exhaust tip is because the tip is fixed in the bumper! So it cant be moved.. and as you probably know, an exhaust must have some little room left for vibrations and engine movement.. thats why in most cases, an exhaust hangs underneath the car with some rubber straps..
Size wise it looks like it sits in between a Golf and a Tiguan. Decent size for an SUV in that segment. And you don't have to pay Mercedes or BMW prices for this either I'm assuming.
Thank you Thomas for another excellent and detailed review! Am I the only person here to find that the Arona's styling at the rear, where the passenger window meets the roofline, is a total copy of the Renault Captur's? Especially with the contrasting coloured roof... The spy shots of the Arona looked so exciting, I was really looking forward to this car's launch. So I really disappointed to say, I'm quite underwhelmed by the final result :-( Is anybody else beginning to get slightly bored by yet another product of the VW/Skoda/Seat parts bin? Definitely well thought out and engineered. But ever so unexciting...
hard surfaces inside is not a bad thing as long as they don,t move lose, or make noise. if they look pleasant to the eye, and long lasting but cheap in production, there is no problem for comfort and lower price of the car. small engine cars mostly made for mobility, not for luxury.
Excellent review Thomas, in what looks like a very busy expo. I'll be looking to purchase a Seat, whether it is this one or the new Ibiza (when they finally start releasing 1.4 in FR!). It will be interesting to see what this does in terms of fuel in real world tests. While it does indeed look great (especially that gorgeous 8 inch screen), the fake exhausts are just stupid. Manufacturers need to cease doing this and start listening to customers.
Generally it's ok, but nothing new in this segment. We'll soon have another small crossovers from Kia and Hyundai and I'm afraid they all look so similar.. And the car's face here looks a little bit angry, mainly because of the headlights, I think. I prefer Ateca's style as it's more practical and simple designed. Anyway, thank you for presenting the car from its premiere :) that's really great job!
The Arona is a nice small SUV. I like the exterior and interior design. In details like the C pillar or the bumpers maybe a little bit "too much makeup". The central display as well as the climate control could be positioned higher. Everything else seems to be good. A manual handbrake is a positive aspect for me. The materials are "simple" but well processed. For cost reasons I wouldn't probably go for the FR or the Excellence version. If I had the choice between the Arona and the Ibiza, I would most likely prefer the smaller, even better looking, more agile and sportier Ibiza, also with 90 hp CNG. This small car offers so much space and comfort. Climbing aboard I am also perfectly fine, I can't see any advantage here for the Arona. Especially for small people it can be difficult sometimes to get on and off board of some Vans or SUVs. And an SUV doesn't offer more passive safety even though the higher seating position and the more massive dimensions might suggest that. In terms of sustainability the SUV has disadvantages, too. More weight and more wind resistance lead to a higher fuel consumption. If anybody says he or she wants nothing else but an SUV inspite of all the objective disadvantages, he or she should go for a car like the Arona, the Peugeot 2008, the Renault Capture or others in that segment. These cars are at least not those ugly monsters like the bigger SUVs which tend to say: "I don't care at all about the environment".
Really surprised by how ugly it is. The Ateca is comfortably the best looking car in its class for me, but this isn't in the same league. It looks awkward and wrong in the proportions and the split colour thing doesn't really work - looks a bit naff. The Mazda CX-3 is head and shoulders above this car in the looks department.
FULL REVIEW Seat Arona: th-cam.com/video/9NSUhOUedLs/w-d-xo.html
Thomas, first internet review of the Arona I could find, well done, fast work! Great to get such an insight into the car before it arrives in the U.K.
appreciated!
It looks interesting and modern, well done Seat !!
Seat are starting to come up the game !!! Their cars just look stunning
Really good.Much better looking than a q2,juke etc
Krass, wie schnell ihr die Premieren-Videos immer schneidet und hochladet! Daumen hoch!
Vielen Dank, bleib bei uns!
Would like to see Seat in the US - nice looking, could be very competitive
looks really good. Would prefer the white with black roof and xcellence trim. Is this car spacier than the ibiza inside? and i dont mean luggage space
+Mourik131 yes a little
the only complaint I have is that seat has not shown a Thomas blue car. they know we like them.
YES! And you maybe know from the Ibiza that there is a KICKASS blue colour! th-cam.com/video/-8hDTiwOUnk/w-d-xo.html
Thomas front fender (American English) is a kotflügel vorne, that you pointed out is a plastic wheelarch extension.
great first look thomas!! i would probably go for the pure trim as i really loved those seats.
+Jeroen van 't Westende thx!

You are so fast with the reviews from the world premieres 😱
+car addicted in ur service!
Very nice video!
4:53 it's build alongside the Audi Q3 (not Q2) in Martorell, Barcelona.
thanks! Hehe yeah let's make it even more correct: So far the Q3 was built in Martorell, but they have moved the production to Hungary now. The Q2 shared parts with the Arona, but is built in Ingolstadt - now we have it, I think ;)
Autogefühl that's even better! ;)

Will an openable panorama/sun roof as well be available for the Arona ? (as for the Ibiza)
Looks good and the front of the car has a nice unique design

Hey Thomas,
Do you know when VW show the Polo SUV? Looking forward to that car and comparison of the Arona and Polo SUV.
IAA motor show I guess
Cool thanks.

I wish we had Seat (and Skoda) in North America
I wish the same!
Am I correct in saying that you can't adjust the air level on the single AC vents? there's no wheel
did u check 12:36 ? u see that the air pressure is controlled with the 2 radiator buttons

Besten Dank! Ich hake noch mal nach
Nice video. Will Arona be available with AWD like Stonic and Kona??
+Kristijan Vragović there won't be an all wheel drive
Great overview Thomas. The Arona seems to have more character than the Ateca to me. Think it might be on my purchase list. :)
+Andrew K, Northern Ireland thanks!!
Interesting design from SEAT. It's certainly growing on me!
No lane assist? No 9,2 inch infotainment? No EV or 4*4 option? When Will Seat bring virtual cockpit?
hi Thomas great review as usual. any idea if there will be a 4x4 version?
thanks! there wont
Autogefühl thank you! Too bad, another new SUV I can't buy :(
Is this the Seat version of the Skoda Karoq ?
+Stanislav .Bratushkov no, smaller
Stanislav .Bratushkov The Karoq is a little bit bigger than the Ateca even.
Is there gonna be 4wd system available?
+Victor Supra no

I'd go for the Arona 1.6TDI 115bhp Xcellence Lux& I like the manual handbrake.
enjoy!
way better than the audi q2

yeah price wise it will be between Ibiza and Ateca

Don't have the digital cockpit

yeah they also said they could form stronger design lines on the hard surface, thats another thing
What is the ground clearence ?
the suspension sits 30 mm higher than with the Ibiza

Nice car!!! But the front grille is too big!!!
Seat releasing another car yet they cant even keep up production on their current car models, fantastic.... hopefully they open/extend the factory.
+iScoTT29 they are building that on their own, thus more flexible
arghh everyone making SUV's , its getting annoying
Next up is Lamborghini with the Urus... Rolls Royce... Urgh.
Whats next? Bugatti or Ferrari SUV? Alfa Romeo did one aswell...
Sí, no need to ge annoy! Variety es fun. Some people lik SUV. Lot people lik SUV. Big cabin. Everyone do SUV. Morgan SUV?!
newmabreu96 i tell you a secret. Seat is owned by VW and all this cars have the same base
+Porsche Guy - yes, good joke! Seat owned by VW? Yes, Porsche owned by VW. Same base? Yes, Macan and Q5 same base! SUVs are everywhere!

It looks a bit like 3008
same old same old. same car like Ibiza with same WV interior... the car industry is boring! thanks to tesla to bring some new thing to the market.
omg! Seat Really after the amazing Ateca, this is real ugly
