    Murano has always been a good suv for the money. Very comfortable and high quality.

      @bruddahmanmatt as recent as Q1 2024 it outsold every midsize crossover except the Explorer and Grand Cherokee. Which was also about the end of full supply so tough to tell with later quarters

      When I was shopping for a SUV my top contenders were the Murano, Lexus RX, Mazda CX9 and the Edge. So yeah. It did used to get cross shopped with the Edge.

    Always liked the Murano but for a brand new 2025 model it’s a big mistake that it’s not a hybrid.

    • @slscamg
      @slscamg หลายเดือนก่อน +16

      I agree in today’s world you need a hybrid. Most people will see under 20 with typical suburb driving and school pickup line idling.

    • @MBergyman
      @MBergyman หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      @@slscamg I disagree. It is a value proposition. Depending on how long you plan to own the vehicle for and depending on how you use the vehicle, it may make financial sense to opt for a regular gas engine. If most of your mileage is freeway driving, the hybrid drive train is being used for very little if any of that type of driving. If you are driving very low mileage every year (like my wife who does a few local trips per week with the kids), then the amount of driving and fuel savings is not enough to offset the vehicle purchase price premium. The gas vehicle is also a lower cost to maintain, theoretically, so there is a risk savings there.
      I am not saying hybrids are not useful - if they are priced right in line with a gas vehicle, then there is likely very little downside. I purchased a 2018 Atlas for a much lower price than a comparable hybrid (all of which are more compromised in passenger/cargo volume), so it was not worth the additional cost to buy a hybrid, even now, even in California. It gets 26-28mpg on the highway, but averages 17-18 around town - with the mileage we drive it, I can live with that.

      You could make the argument either way but to me with Toyota quickly ditching the 2GR/1UR/3UR and basically making their entire lineup hybrid that they would have left a lot of customers in the dust who would then could be persuaded to jump into Nissan who isn't making everything a hybrid and in some cases still using the old proven powertrains. Either those customers don't care for Nissan or they have accepted to jump into the new era of Toyota's powertrains..

    • @markweaver1012
      @markweaver1012 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Calculate your fuel savings over 100K miles and see if that would pay for the extra cost of the hybrid. Personally, I'm not particularly interested in a hybrid because most of our miles are highway miles where hybrids offer little benefit.

    • @Amc825
      @Amc825 หลายเดือนก่อน

    My mom had an 1st gen 07' Murano as her work/errand car and it worked well until the CVT died 190k miles later in 2016.
    She has since moved on to the Lexus RX, but I'm assure she'd give this an approving glance as long as she saw it from behind.

    I was interested until the VC engine. I am not inherently opposed to 4-cylinder turbos, but the VC is kind of legendary for its problems. Are there any naturally-aspirated V6's left in this class? I think you need to go up a size class to Pathfinder, Telluride, Grand Cherokee, etc. to get a V6.

    • @ovp66223
      @ovp66223 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      and that 4-cylinder gets disappointing V-6 like MPG. I am still shaking my head. I know its a larger vehicle, but it ain't a Suburban or Tahoe or Expedition. My 2003 Accord V-6 gets 20/29. Thats a 20 year old engine technlogy. I wanted Nissan to keep those awesome zero-gravity seats (best in the business), get rid of the CVT (done) and keep the V-6, with slightly improved efficiency or slightly lower HP/torque. Instead they dropped to a 4 cylinder and didn't even score any real MPG benefits, just shorter shelf-life. Oh Joy.

    • @brianmola711
      @brianmola711 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    This is a positive move for Nissan, I, like others am glad that they did away with the cvt. (Now they have to remove it from all of their cars etc) now Nissan needs to add both a hybrid with better fuel economy and possibly a plug-in hybrid and a true SR trim. that SR would need to have a better sport tune suspension, more power and a few more standard options.

      Recent years Nissan/Jatco CVTs used in the Murano are incredibly good, smooth, responsive, efficient and much hardier than its predecessors were. Just drive a bunch of competitors and see for yourself. But, ignore the bad advice fluid change schedule Nissan lists and change fluid at least 1/2 the miles sooner and then you'll see long enjoyable life. If you lease, well..its next owner will benefit.
      Reading so many misinformed old-info comments here hating on the CVT. Just goes to show, the longer a mfgr takes to make things 'right' for the customer, the harder..(almost impossible) to shake obsolete opinions.
      I've done this comparo and used to be just as skeptical but I educated myself and now love the way this trans works. It's basically without fault. It doesn't even really feel like a CVT. I'm amazed how quick and responsive it is to your chosen input and demand. But I'm planning on changing fluid every 30k miles and drop the pan and do BOTH filters. Most people don't even realize there are 2 not 1 filter.. even dealers🙁
      And the one that dirtys first is actually accessible without dropping the pan!
      Hopefully others considering any Murano from 2016 to 2024 will see my post. I've heard there are some 2024s still new but I haven't confirmed.

      In terms of a few desires, but especially in ride quality, quietness and seat comfort, the pre 2025 Muranos annihilate the Rav4 and CRVs. Especially the Toyota, they are loud with road and wind noise. CRV not bad for wind noise and are quieter than they used to be (not the Hybrid surprisingly.. it's actually louder than the Rav) but road noise and disappointing seat comfort are still an issue in the CRV. The Murano, at least pre 2025 are much much more luxurious and not really comparable to the other two if comfort is a priority.

    6.8 seconds is pretty slow from a 2L turbo, and gas mileage isn’t good either, RAV4 hybrid is just as fast as this but gets double MPG rating.

      It's not *bad*, but keep in mind the tires (255) which are wide for the segment and the final drive ratio which is quite low (1st gear ends up at 20.5:1), they also added ground clearance which hurts highway economy. All-in-all, the MPGs seem logical given the constraints.

    If Nissan doesn't want to go bankrupt in 12 months, making their cars *more* expensive isn't the way, especially when you consider the inevitable *dealership markup* that Nissan stealerships place. Many Nissan dealers are pretty toxic. All the ones in my city were pretty bad. The only good half decent offers about 1000 miles away. Or Colorado.
    They make good cars. But their dealer network is trash. Even on 400Zs that had been lot rotting for 300+ days, they still had about 10k-15k markup.

      It is interesting to see how Nissan has clearly avoided hybridization as much as the other makes and I thought there were enough Americans who were anti-hybrid (aka 2 powertrains to fix/replace) that their sales would do alright but hilariously America has dramatically shifted towards hybrids quite suddenly in the past couple years..
