The Calif. Zephyr #5 in Ft. Morgan on 22AUG2024

- This California Zephyr #5 is the second of the "Two-fer" this morning, 22AUG2024. P42s #71, #45, and #203 led the 8-car train to a stop with car 7 to the west station platform for passenger service to 1 new fare and 8 departing passengers who have another 3-to-5-hour ride north.
The third engine (#203) was not online but is the display unit for Operation Lifesaver in black and yellow paint with the slogan: "See Tracks? Think Train" on the sides.
Once the passenger work was safely completed, the high ball was given and on a clear signal at west Ft. Morgan CP. the Zephyr ramped up the amps to the traction motors moving the train west toward its next stop at Union Station in Denver.
Thanks to the operating crew for the greetings this morning.

Good Thursday afternoon Mike! 1:15 Central time. Upper 70’s here today and it feels wonderful outside! Cool breezes and bright sunshine! Sounds like we get into the oven again on Saturday and Sunday 😕. I’ll have to watch number 6 coming through. I had seen they were running way behind much earlier this morning! Good afternoon, Mark; Thanks for tuning in along with the comments. It is a bit cooler here today. Unfortunately, the humidity is like that found along the rivers and seacoast. May get a splash of rain later. We will be back into the 90s by Saturday. Seems to go around this time of year.

Good day Mike. I was watching the first video without reading the caption and couldn’t figure out why the screen was reversed. After a few seconds I realized it was #6 heading east lol. A bit of an overshoot with the #5, perhaps they forgot to account for the weight of the extra engine lol. That was cool to see. Don’t think I’ve seen a triple since I started watching you. Once again nice to see it busy.

And I don't to catch both Zephyrs that many times. It's all fun! Nah. Someone greased the brakes. Well, just a little distracted maybe. I have not see a tri-powered Zephyr in a couple of years. As I recall, #203 was involved then too. Oh well.
It was nice to see a lot of folks going and coming this morning.

Well Mike, you brought them both in today. Quite a busy day, too. It was a good day for a two-fer, perked the day up as I found out late yesterday I have a huge termite nest between my unit & neighbor. While repairing damage to there house, they discovered mine. The only positive is the HOA is the responsible party. Such is life. STAY SAFE.

The sun just broke thru the clouds here. Now comes the heat along with the humidity. AC hasn't cycled yet. Time to check the eyelids for light leaks.

I know I'm sure that's frustrating when someone's ride doesn't show up or they're extremely late. But it look like a lot of people got off today and then that one gets on. Looks like I'll go check out the other one.
Yep. The last time #203 was thru, they set it off in Denver for display and the electricals went sour on them. This is the first time back since then.
That Amish party was looking around for their driver and ride. I was happy to see her pull around and meet them. They had another 3-to-5-hour ride after detraining.
There was a bit of platform overshoot but that does happen once in a while.

Good evening and thanks for stopping by as well as the question. There is none close at hand. The group who detrained here this morning will ride to the far northwest corner of Nebraska along the state line with Wyoming. There is a fairly large enclave up there. It is nearly a straight-line drive from here to where they were headed.
There are some Mennonites in the local area, but we don't see them much.
