I like my rusks really hard and dense. These are for kids. I'll try this with much less butter, much less self raising flour and add in some strong bread flour along with a tonne of caraway seeds. Hopefully I'll be able to recreate the hard, tasty rusks we had as kids.

Nice
Going to try this now as I miss rusks. First time I have ever attempted to make rusks.
Still the best rusk recipe around!
Wow, thanks!
Excellent recipe!
Glad you liked it
Lekker. Now I can make rusks in Australia
Off to the shops to make this for Christmas. "It's me maa, it's me maa, it's me maa!"
Will try making. It looks good. Thanks.
Hope you enjoy
very nice - but what is cream of Tartar, you really need it - in Germany we dont get it! Thanks for your info 🙂
you can make this recipe without cream of tartar, enjoy! thanks for watching!
also known as biscotti. yummy
Baie dankie
Hi! Making these in the states :) What is the size of your condensed milk tin so I make sure to use the right size. Thank you for the recipe!
385g of condensed milk.
My South African husband says I nailed it! Thanks for posting :)
Remember, only if you used yeast you'd need to knead. No need for kneading here 🙂
Would I use sweetened or unsweetened condensed milk?
I used sweetened condensed milk
Need to preheat the oven?
yes, preheat the oven.
What is the purpose of the cream of tarter
The cream of tartar has the same effect on turning the milk to buttermilk, so you can just use buttermilk instead of normal milk
No baking powder
I used self-raising flour.
You're not very specific in regards to the drying, so many variations online. What temperature do you use and is oven door slightly open or closed?
It would have been good if you placed the amounts of the ingredients. We are oldish and had to pause, relisten, pause and relistened
the recipe is listed in the description, hope you have fun baking!
Internationally would be recognised as "BISCOTTI" and would best be described as such!🏴🇿🇦
Nope it's not biscotti, as biscotti is thin slices. It's called Rusks.
