Ymmm....just saw an Indian lady making these Yummy South African Rusks and many in the comment section pointed out part of the process is drying them out, as the Fresh Princess(Caryn) did in Oregon and you do here Nadine,....well, Caryn didn't add the raisins and seeds but I can only imagine the fruity, nutty flavor to the dough mixture. Since we don't have buttermilk here in Mexico, I guess we can make it with regular milk, just adding some lime juice to make it curd a bit? Thanks for sharing, 👍 and greetings👋from central Mexico! 🤠

One question - is it really necessary to work the butter into the flour with your fingers, or can I simply melt the butter and add it to the wet ingredients? I found this to be the most time-consuming and unenjoyable part. Thanks!

I never used the brown wheat flour instead of the bran flakes...The flakes purpose is flavouring and texture. I think adding more flour will mess with the dry and wet ingredient ratio. But give it a try and let me know.

Dis wonderlik 😃 As ek haastig is droog ek dit op 110°C vir 4 tot 6 ure met die thermo fan🌸 ek is bly die beskuit het lekker uit gekom💖

Hi! You can use Amazi as a replacement or you can use plain yoghurt or sour cream both of them with a 1 to 1 ratio.
@@joannevanrooyen733 I used normal milk, 1 liter with 1 teaspoon wynsteensuur (tartaric acid) to make my own buttermilk. It came out delicious.

Please change the oil to 50- 80 not 300ml. Why so much
It is a very dry recipe. I once forgot the oil and couldn't knead the dough. Once I added it everything was okay again 🥰
