I rented a condo in Bangkok on Air BNB for one month. If I wished to rent for a year the price would be very affordable. In this video I will give you a tour of this condo and discuss living in this area as opposed to other neighborhoods in Bangkok.

My name is Brian but everyone calls me Greeny. I retired in January of 2020 after working 30 years in Law Enforcement. I wanted to retire young enough to be able to do some of the things I always dreamed about! I knew I wanted to travel extensively and retire somewhere warm and exotic I sampled a ton of places in the Caribbean, Panama, Colombia, Turkey but set my sights on Thailand.

Love the variety of content. Thanks for showing us different and new places.
Thank you!!
Thanks G - good video and it’s always interesting to see new places.
I suspect the snorer in the massage joint was sleeping off last nights belly full of beer- unbelievable!
That belly gonna be full a long time
I pay 17k baht a month in Pattaya but it's a hotel cable tv cleaning electric water included
Not bad
Hotel?
What is the hotel called?
Nice coffee shop. I prefer small coffee shops over the Starbucks chain places. That first condo isn't a bad place with a decent view, with it being close to the MRT makes it valuable for sure. The gym is top notch too. The amenities are darn good there. A little pricey but all big cities are expensive. Great video.
Great amenities. Little rooms. Like a lot of these new places they are building
Great show Greeny! I should b there this fall fully retired. Take care and as alway's stay cool 😎 kind and generous. 😊
Very good!!
I enjoyed the video Greeny! You would punch me, I probably make the sleeping guy sound peaceful 😂
lol. 😂
💡insightful, cheers mate .. 👍🏻
Thank you!!
Love your blogs.
Wow you have both a Pattaya/Jom Tien condo you own plus a short term condo in BKK now. You da man!l, Greeny!
I’m considering retiring to the Bang Na district along the river. You can get a Thai style air con cold water “Cheap Charlie” walk up flat for $70 or a Small Western style condo for $150/month long term there.. The area has good access to the Sukumvit public transport line as well as public river transport on the river to the fancier parts of Bangkok.
Sounds good. That’s a deal. Wait till you see the place I’m heading to this weekend 😊
I really didn't like the place because I need a washing machine! I like On Nut very much. I'm in the 1% who doesn't get the raves over Thai coffee shops. I prefer to drink instant because the shop coffee is either too strong, too bitter, or too sweet. The only coffee I like is at Terminal 21 of all places. But it could be that I'm too used to Hawaiian coffee. Thanks for this video.
I really like the pressed coffee (americano premium) from Amazon Cafe, can you do a review, thanks K
Most everyday I get an iced americano there
28 sec in there's a condo with a golden dome. I'm sure that was one of the half built abandoned condos during the Asian financial crisis in 1998. I was in Bangkok during 1999 and there was abandoned construction everywhere.
Oh. Thx.
Go there and verify instead of spreading rumors.
Small but ok apartment, nice facilities, personally don’t mind staying in quieter area, interested what next for you😉 👏🏿🥰
Phu Quoc Saturday
You should make a video buying clothes in Thailand and where you get all that under armour stuff from 😅
That stuff all from the U.S.
@@GreenyTravels ah ok but im general a clothes shopping video would be interesting.... I think prices are much lower than in the west for brand name clothing 😂
All of the newer build condos pretty much are very similar in design/quality and size. Meaning most of them are 25 to 35sqm. You can get double the floor area in the same area in a slightly older building for the same price most of the time.
Yep. That’s about right
Older building? No thanks
My daughter has been in Thailand for exactly 1 year today, searching to find the best place, and I have financed the entire trip, so I know what it cost me, about $1,900 per month. For a time, the conclusion was Koh Samui, but then she found Koh Phangan and loves the place. She rented a detached 1-bedroom 1-bath house on a big corner lot in Thongsola Koh Phangan, 1 year lease @ 10,000 THB per month, plus a nice scooter @ 1,000 THB. What do you think, Greeny?
I think she picked a great island. One of my favorites
I’m renting in northern bkk 10,000b 50sq m just renewed for another year ,25 mins from centre city on bts 😊
Nice. Thats decent size!
@@GreenyTravels it’s great and I’d struggle going smaller. It is in good location on green BTS line Ratchayothin
Post a link
good info
Thxx
Why don’t you buy one? As long as it is not further than bearing then you are only 20 minutes from asok by the bts. MRT lines are not all good and you do not want to transfer a lot. At the current exchange rate of 36.8 you can buy a unit for between 30k to 60k dollars with rents going from 6k to 14k bhat. I suggest to find something 5 minutes from a bts station. Know your renters. most westerners want facilities and size and right near the action. those prices are 4-6 million bhat and you probably will have trouble selling. thais look for something reasonable with shops and restaurant and decent transportation options. Well, what is 40k dollars if it makes your time more interesting. thanks for the video.
Too much pollution as I will discuss in a future video. I may end up on Samui eventually
@@GreenyTravels Samui content would be interesting. Especially living in the area. Most vids on it deal w vacation type stuff.
@@GreenyTravelsWear a mask bro
one can't beat the train system and price of the trains
I enjoy it generally
How can you compare this island to BKK? You need to do a similar comparison to Thailand like Krabi or Koh Chang!
I didn’t compare
what about the noise in a condo? From outside, from neighbors?
It was super quiet. That was the best thing about it
Bangkok is defintely cheaper than where you currently live.
This area is. Ekkemi into downtown way more
1/ Live On $1000 In Thailand 2/ with easy access to a good weight lifting gym, 3/ food market to buy to cook at home.. What city, community has this?
Not many
@@GreenyTravels Thank you kindly for your fast reply.
Could I live in Thailand for 30 years in comfort with over 900K ?
900 k. 4.5 % interest. Income 40K a year. $3300 a month. You are set for life here
If under 59 1/2 and in US, look into a 72t. I would recommend a withdrawal rate of 3 to 3.5% only. You're in good shape unless you go bananas with spending. Plus if you have any loved ones you'd like to leave cash after you croak, you should also be in good shape in that department also. Well done👍

@@rock3786 Happy to become your first dependent 😂
Some people don’t mind staying far out to save money but then you have to ask how valuable is your time.
Yea. It wasn’t terrible. Just boring
yes Greeny , one would have to have a 40 - 60 sq mth unit Minimium if living long term , anything smaller it would be way to cramped
Agree
I live in a motorhome at 320 square feet and it's a lot less than that floor space. I have everything I need including a queen size bed, a shower, lots of storage, a kitchen, lots of food storage, enough seating, a 55-in television and satellite internet. Been living that way for 4 years and do not find it tight. A little bigger might be nice but more than that is just more to clean and air condition.
@@RobFomenko , that's roughly 30sq mtr , as they say in thailand ... up to you. ... PLUS I was referring to a condo not a mobile home
@@geofferyrobertson6608 I was responding to your statement that 40 to 60 square meters would be needed for living long-term for you and anything else would be cramped. Doesn't matter whether it's a mobile home, a condo, a sticks and bricks a tent. Same same. It's a home. My point was that 320 square feet or 30 square meters has sufficed me for the last 4 years. That and only that. Have a great day!.
@@RobFomenko G F Y/S
I wish I could get that comfortable during a message.
lol. Yea. Crazy.
Nice Video Sir, Property Name?
Parkland. Was in the video
@@GreenyTravels Thanks sir, From where I can book for a month?
you are one stop away from me Greeny
Nice. 👍
How do you like it out there?
So much mystery! I’d bet you’re joining Chris. Time will tell.
lol. No. Heading in a different direction
Second question; how’s the talent there? 😂
Not much
Dude where are going tonight?
Home in Na Jomtien. You?
@@GreenyTravels Bkk. We are at Banthat Thong Square
Dude I was staying there! HaHa
lol. Too funny. Why didn’t you tell me 😂
Bkk is OK to visit but to live? Too busy and polluted for me. And why buy in Thailand when rents are so cheap?
Plus you can move and not have to pay for 2 places until your condo sells, if it ever sells.
Thais want NEW not old condos and Farang are spoiled for choice. Save your cash or invest it in a business.
It’s good to diversify investments. I need a base. My condo feels like a real home since I own it
It’s not cheap living in bangkok
U need $2500-3000 a month to live good !
thats pretty cheap for a world class big city
I’d probably blow $5000 a month if I lived there. Probably just on food and beer 🍺
Disagree , you can live very well out of the city centre 😊 depends on what you want .. horses for courses ..
Lies
Thai food 30-80 baht. $300 rent. Are you buying drugs and alcohol? 😂😂😂
Your kill'n me!
😂
lol snoring
😂
Greeny I need help: how do i see FB market place rentals in map view?? Thanks bud
Comes up that way for me. Maybe it the location.
Hey Greeny, when you were showing us around the apartment, was someone hiding under the sheets/blankets 😂😂 maybe a lady friend under there. Another nice video Greeny
