- How to Disable Microsoft Defender Antivirus in Windows 11
Not everyone wants Windows Defender and would love to disable it in Windows 11, but its very tricky to block windows defender because it restarts itself. I will should you a way top completely and permanently disable windows defender antivirus security software that is built into windows.
Warning: Remember to create a restore point before you edit the registry and also make a registry backup. You follow this video guide at your own risk.

It's absolutely insane that MS is doing this, it takes all this effort to use your own hardware? How are people not outraged by this!
Because MS collects our own user data via these methods and sells them, like Tencent and Facebook does.

How would one re-enable windows defender? Need to disable just to install a driver and then want to turn back on. Would I simply remove all of the dword values that we created? Thanks for the great video!

Thank you very much for this tutorial. I was blocked for several months because of this antivirus which cancelled all the downloads that I had to carry out and I was really depressed. Thanks to you I have been able to deactivate the antivirus and this has enabled me to download the software that allows me to work at ease.

This used to work for me. Now Microsoft is somehow removing "DisableAntiSpyware" edit from the Windows Defender Key in the registry.

Hello, I just tried this on version 23H2, the real time protection is off/managed by your company, but the real time scanner is still active and it found several or the new keys.

The windows defender now runs in the background EVEN AFTER you disabled it. It's insane how hard they want to force us to use this absolute mediocre and useless antivirus.
if you use your own antivirus , can you just install it and leave all that alone ? i notice in windows 10 if you install your own antivirus then windows defender automatically gets disabled.
I've done EVERYTHING like in the video , even used O&O software, still after restart MICROSOFT DEFENDER ANTIVIRUS SERVICE is RUNNING and set on AUTOMATIC (Win 11 Pro ver. 21H2 ) .
You can completely remove Windows defender, but it's not recommended

I believe it is gonna work until Microsoft starts messing with the Registries, which has a really thin chance of happening so this is a really good tutorial.

Why would one want to disable itself? Used several "free" antivirus programs and I really don't see that defender nowadays is any way inferior?
If you have common sense like not opening sus links in emails or downloading stuff you shouldn't be from fishy websites then you don't need it. Or maybe if you're already using an another antivirus program

Brian I am not savvy enough to see why one should go to such lengths to shut off Windows Defender - what is the problem with the service? I will just feel naked without it.

if you have an old antiquated system (8700k and below) disable it.. 9900k is entry level, you can leave defender on and there isn't any noticeable performance issue. any newer cpu can still leave it on.
If I want to enable to again in the future, do I just delete the keys that was made?

I just watched another video and that one only instructed to add only the first reg value and key, restarted it after that, downloaded and installed an antivirus software (Bitdefender) and all was going well until Windows wouldn't even allow me to open Bitdefender. It just flashed. So..I checked the new registry value and key and it had disappeared. Uninstalled Bitdefender, restarted again and Windows defender had returned. I'm getting really frustrated with Windows 10 and about ready to toss it away for good. I will try again using this multiple reg edit method and see if that works. If not I will uninstall Windows 10 and go back to using and continue learning Linux Mint 21.

Registry method works in windows 10 as well I just tried.
hello i have windows 11 pro so i tried the second method it works but the next day Microsoft defender activates it self again+the option that has (enable) in the second method restart it self and goes back to option (not configured)

Norton missed that my networking had been changed to 'Public'. Another, recommended by my service provider, made a complete hash of re-subscribing every single time, on four different laptops. That one works well on Sandra's Android phone. But it is a waste of time on Windows. I do get asked to confirm some 3rd party programs I need for amateur radio, photo and video processing. Windows Defender asked me to vouch for those, and I had no more obstructions. No Virus Defender can be perfect. It is an ever-evolving area in computing. But, right now, Windows Defender looks to me more competent than some of the others I have come across.
i bought a hp 840 g5 laptop with latest Windows Pro 11 software, it's doesn't worked anymore windows Defender keeps coming back, pls post another tutorial for it.
