I used to have a husband that could do anything, just like you. It helps me so much to slow it down a little bit, and just relax and watch you work. It is so beautiful. Your cabin is a total dream for some of us. Thank you for sharing it. You are amazing!
You certainly have a million dollar view of the lake! You've built a really nice place.
I'll trade you. 😃
Very nice location. I live on 60degrees north myself. A few thoughts... Off grid cabin, and using energy for a leaf blower.. the broom would do a better job. And, the door opening inwards.. dont know where you are located, but a bear could easy lean to the door and open it. Not to mention the waste of living space. And you loose more heat than a door opening outwards. In my country it is also for safety reasons, in case of a fire, you are safer with the door opening outwards. You should put the insulation under the floor, between the rafters. You are just making a nice shelter for critters this way.
Doors opening outward in heavy snow and ice areas is a no go. Good luck opening that door after an ice storm, they'll dig you out in the spring
It might be wise to add small French drain at the top of the slope so that it would stay dry under the cabin
Wow....look at that color on the way up!!!
Squirrels love packing their nests with insulation according to Bushradical
The skirting really cleaned it up and should make it warmer inside. Thanks for sharing
I really like your cabin style. I love the traditional log type but the way you did yours was perfect for me, doable, affordable. I subbed. I would love to see that outside kitchen. I live in the tropics and usually we have outside areas being bigger than the inside. I prefer them screened in because of bugs (mosquitos, termites, etc..) In the tropics other than the extreme heat and humidity are the bugs, vermin, rust & mold. I 've been in temperate climates and I know they have their unique situations. We're also prone to strong typhoons.
looks so peaceful ❣️
Beautiful place you got there.
Use double foil bubble wrap rap insulation under your cabin. No bugs no mice get into anything. Very warm.
Your story telling/ film making skills are growing. This may be your best video yet. Well done. Cabin too.
A hot tub would be nice. Also, I’d use the golden ratio (1.618) when building things (height to width, etc.). It’s more pleasing to the eye & nature’s blueprint. Thanks for the video; looking forward to the next one.
I enjoy your content, you get things done every time your out there, beautiful little cabin on the lake! Skirting looks great! ✌🏼🙏🏼
The skirting looks amazing. It is so beautiful there 🥰.
I can see a wood shed in your future, the cabin looks amazing i love the black trim on it x
That's a lot of crawling ! Don't envy you!
I love your sturdy, little well-built cabin. I appreciate your explanations and methodical "engineer" step-by-step approach. I'm a fan!
Really enjoyed the video. Cabin looks great. You’ve got a real nice spot there. Looking forward to seeing you build the deck.

❤ love it I would love to live there so pretty
Love it!
What a great set up 🖐😎👍
Thanks 👍
Really like that cabin I think I would put in small wood burner in that corner by the door
Uau!!!!que lugar e cabana lindo ❤❤❤❤
Well done.
estou admirada com seu trabalho.. incrível.. um abraço daqui do Brasil 🇧🇷
Good Job on the skirting should help with keeping cold out
Looks awesome man. Is the deck going to be covered? I think it would look great with some tall 6x6 columns and and lean-to roof that's high enough so that it doesn't block the window view.
i'm new here, love your cabin!
Thanks so much!
I put reflective under my cabin.
Surving Ringworm does all his milling with chain saw check out his videos sometime...
Your cabin looks awesome 👍
Yes. Ryan is really cool. Also from Michigan 🙂
Might want to put vents in to prevent moisture build up doesn’t take much for it to start
Lookin' good! You just going to use the buddy heater in the winter? No plans for a small wood stove?
Hey man. Started watching awhile ago when I was searching youtube for foundation piers. What's the verdict after a couple years? Thumbs up or down?
Thanks for posting. Always a pleasure to watch your updates.
The skirting should keep it slightly warmer, right, because you won't have cold air blowing in under the floor? I like this place and its proximity to the water.
Perfect Area where you did the cabin at, what area is that around? Did a great job on it and came together very nicely!!
Interesting
Really nice rain barrel...may ask where you got it??
👍
Nice place. Do you have a link for the dock ladder?
Are you going to take the dock out of the water and pull it up on the bank. So ice won’t warp/bend it?
Could you make a roof for your kayaks
Just so you know ya lost points when you brought out thd leaf blower, and why dump the rain barrel?
Is it warmer now
How come you don’t have a wood stove in the cabin
Without being too precise can you give us any idea where your cabin is located? Are you north of Grayling, the bridge, etc? My camp is near Marquette. I'm suspecting you might be a troll. :>) Are you anywhere near Jen and Jay? Nice job and I am always smiling when you post.
North of Jay and Jen but south of you. Call me a Troll :-) Thanks for watching!
What's the purpose of the skirting?
You should have gone with an American company for instead of Mikita. Like DeWalt or Black and Decker.
That hasp on your door is put on wrong; it should fit over the screws when closed. Maybe you have really good people up there but where i live they carry screw drivers and would break in first chance they got. Just saying. Other than that I love your videos and the cabin turned out great.
There's no such thing as a ripping chain you just need to take your time. It's not a fast process it's a slow process also do not countersink your screws. If you hit one with your chain it's over. You can buy skip chain for the saw ,, you really need to understand when you're using a chainsaw Mill it takes a lot of time you must go slow
Watch out that mice and/or rats do not make their home under your cabin. Looking good otherwise. Take care...
Button it up?? ..... Hell you should be there all winter and using it !! (grin)
BTW the hasp on the shed is on backwards, it's probably too short to reach over to the shackel side where the lock goes thru. Minute 1:16 in the video.
Since its on backwards the folding hinge is NOT folded over and covering the 3 screws so all you do is grab a cordless drill and undo those three screw heads that are exposed in 12 seconds, and you're in !!
BTW for next season, ditch the buddy heater or at least go on-line and learn about how much moisture they put in to a room when you burn them- its ridiculous. For each one pound tank of propane you burn in the cabin it makes 1.6 pounds of water vapour in to the cabin as well. Go look at an RV furnace or something you can mount to one wall someplace that ventilates to the outside of the cabin. Its not about the CO they make (its a buddy heater) so no problem ...... its just all the water they produce.
Looks great !
