Totally all in !! going to buy some land in the Adirondacks. Build our little get away cabin on it. Want to fish, hunt and hike the trails. This is my retirement plan when I hit 62 in a few short years. So inspiring to watch other people do it. Thank You

I really wish I was younger, but at 70 years old, I don't think I'm going to be building any cabins. I love to watch other people's adventures and dreams come true, though. Thanks for sharing!
When my folks were younger, they purchased some land in Lake County MI (near Manistee NF). After many years, they finally hauled us kids from northwest indiana up there over a weekend to check it out and camp. Over the years, they slowly constructed an off grid cabin.
When I found your channel, and learned you have lived in area, I had to tell my folks about ya and your hubby. My mom is now hooked on your channel!
When we visit, we have to head up and spend time at the cabin...get out on the Pere Marquette River, get some Jones icecream, pick up food from the m37 meat shack for bbq, etc!

i would love to build a small cabin . But i dont think my county in ohio will let me , i ended up taking a old garage filled with trash . And turned it into a 320sq ft tiny house , still a work in process while i live in it lol but it took me a year to get it together . I atleast got the front of the garage to look cabinish and the town allowed it . Great video !

I love it when creators give other creators a plug 🔌 that is how I've found the best channels. found you guys one day while searching for canvas tents. I could not believe how fearless n motivated you were. You put a complicated canvas tent up fitted with stove, cooked a meal n stayed for the night while husband was out traveling . Her only companion was dog, who has since passed away.

There was a book I became enamored with when I was a teenager in the 90's: Cordwood Masonry Homebuilding. There were several builds that were off grid type dwellings with an amazingly efficient design. One was built by a grandmother and her young granddaughter! It is in my opinion the ultimate building method, very interesting subject

I teared up too ! All the hard work - it was cathartic to see others give so much to have something of their own.
My wife and I found a 40 ft Vietnam (river) war boat. Dragged it out in the woods spanning a creek and built a house in it. Next to a 16 x22 deck. Rustic on the out side . Plush on the inside. Queen bed two recliner's and a potbelly stove with propane heat. People thought we were nuts. No one would ever think it would ever become anything again. Saved it from a chainsaw. Brian and Debi

Well, just in case your and Dave's videos are not inspirational enough. There is this! Wow! I need to get my 60 year old butt out of the suburbs and get my dream going! A rural/wilderness homestead! If you, and all of the folks you just showed can do it? So can I! My age is clearly no excuse! As a retired airline pilot I have had the fancy homes. Cars. The "good" life. But reality is all I want is a simpler, self sustaining life! Land. Cabin. Etc.

I appreciate the dexterity and talent of these people and I’m impressed by the dwellings. But this video only reinforces how happy I am to be a city person. Composting commodes, snakes and living off the grid is a nightmare to me. Give me a loft in NYC anytime. Best wishes to those who enjoy this type of life though. Blessings.
Great video!! Thirty-five years ago we bought a hundred year old fixer upper!! Raised a family, health isn't the best, so we're not moving to our farm, BUT!!! We've decided to build a she shed in the backyard for my art and gardening. With the old house redo, we saved every solid door and window casing (there were a lot of them!) and lots of old furniture. So, between what we've salvaged and the builder's surplus stores, we're going to build an eclectic getaway at the end of our deck. My faraway getaway next door! Love your channel!!

My bf and I converted a pop-up camper into a hard shell camper using cedar planks from my parents house they built in 1979, and I sewed cushion covers for the benches using my dad's blue and white pinstripe overalls, and also curtains with matching curtain ties using my dad's overalls also... My dad instilled camping in me, and with him being gone for 11 years, it's a good memory!:) Just waiting to get to our newly purchased land in Arizona where we will be living in the camper while building an earth bag home!:)

What a wonderful video. At the age of 66, I purchased land and plan on building a cabin as well. So very thankful for all the folks my age and older, especially the ladies, to show that it can be done.

If you want to check out yurts, there are several for rent at the various state parks in Minnesota. No electricity or running water, but there is a wood stove.
Might be a fun video idea.

Sure wish we had our editing done in time to get it off to you - we are so proud of what we've done and you and Dave have been a huge influence on our work - sure wish I would have had you around for some 'opportunities' that we encountered but we pushed thru and are super happy with the result! Hi! This is inspiring, thanks for sharing.
I have only just begun my process of building a tiny house.
It will be my way of practicing the skills I have learned as a life coach. Healing myself, nature, novelty and growth.
I did a little work as a kiddo on houses, but I’ve never built one before. I found and fell in love with a piece of land only big enough for a tiny house.
I saved up for the past 3 years and have enough to last me this year and through the build as long as I keep to a tight budget.
I am currently building a garden and a deck to put my little yurt on so that I can live on the property as I work this summer.
Wish me luck! Next month I move into my yurt. 🎉
I’ve considered it 90 percent likely I will build it all the way down to 20 percent likely. But I am the type that sticks with it. Also my training as a life coach will be useful. Time to meet and greet and beat my fears as I go after my dreams and uncover my deepest desires.
