  • Using Agco's SAE15W-40 diesel engine oil and 1447082M2 oil filter, we are doing our first oil change in the Massey 2607H. This is not a "how to" video so much as it is a "how I did it."

    I like your helpful tips. Such as when putting the oil drain plugs back in, the threaded end goes in first.
    Well done Logan

      It was controversial but I went ahead and said it to help those who didn't know better! HAHA! I can't always guarantee entertaining and educational content, but if I'm doing it outside, it will probably make it to TH-cam.

    I do like the design. You make a good point about the center of gravity! As soon as you pulled the plug, I was thinking, “Shoot that oils got another 200 hours to go!” Lol. Looked clean!

    • @FabbedFun

      It was so clean we used it to deep fry a family size pack of French Fries! Haha yeah I was expecting darker oil but the hours it had were mostly very low RPM and easy use. I think my next scheduled oil change is further out... farther out... no. FURTHER.

    I did my 50 hour oil change on my 2607H this past weekend. I agree about the oil fill cap angle. I told my dealer whoever designed that should be fired. ha! i had oil running out of my funnel and had to just go slow

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  ปีที่แล้ว

      Same here! It's such an obvious bad design. I'm guessing there was a loader re-design or body panel change that no longer required such a terrible angle on the oil fill... because there's no reason for it to be this bad!

    I like the design of the front axle. It seems odd that it has that ridge in the sump which requires a drain plug each side. You would not believe how many different types of oil filter tools we have, the best are the ones that fit on the end like a very large socket. Great job on the oil change

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the shape of the oil pan is due to the engine being designed for multiple tractors or types of equipment. I have four or five sockets like that, but the smallest was too small and the next size up was too big. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      @FabbedFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I told myself I'd never remove the loader. I don't know why. It looks easy enough to do... but the real problem for the oil changes is the angle of the fill neck.

    The only things I don’t like with Massey and John Deere front axles is having a universal joint at the knuckles and the lack of a tight turning radius. I haven’t found many tractors that has an easily accessible oil fill port, that seems like such a simple thing to design yet engineers make it so difficult on the owner. I have no idea why but I love watching oil change and maintenance videos! Good job!

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The M6060 I test drove at a local Kubota dealer had a much tighter turning radius, but the arguable trade is overall strength. (Though the loader cylinders likely won't lift enough to damage either front axle)
      Btw, I watched your bus advice video twice today at lunch. SPOT ON!! I did a lot of reading and digging when I was really into doing a skoolie and it took weeks and weeks to get what you spelled out in a few minutes. Great job!

  • @ooglepeepers
    @ooglepeepers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I recently changed the oil in my 2606H, and I agree the oil filler on the side of the engine is a poor design. There is another oil fill on top of the engine near the back of the hood. It is not very easy to get to with a loader on the tractor, but once you get back there, the oil pours in much more quickly. Massey also recommends changing the hydraulic oil and filters after the first 50 hours, but the filters for mine are on back order (coming from India). Should be here by May.

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I waited three months for mine, so I bought two of the three my local dealer brought in for stock. I'm probably just going to skip the first change. The mechanic said they never have problems with a gear tractor's hydro fluid in just 50 hours but he did recommend changing the oil in the planetaries and front axle differential. He said they run a test on the engine and tranny, then change the fluids. This washes all the manufacturing dust and grit out. The front axle and planetaries, however, are not tested on the assembly line. They just install them and add oil, so he recommended changing all that oil soon to reduce wear from machining dust and burrs (suspended in the thicker oil) that have worn loose in the first few hours of operation. I see the logic in it. I just need to do it.

    • @brownnshiney
      @brownnshiney ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FabbedFun I have been waiting on the two hydraulic filters since April 2022. They are still on backorder. This is a great tractor, if, and only if, you don't need repair parts quickly. The supply chain for MF is a mess right now.

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brownnshiney What I have noticed is that some dealers will work to have parts transferred from other dealershipswhen you need them... while others only wait patiently for the manufacturer to fulfill backorders. You might ask yours if they can do a remote stock check and call around if you start hurting for a part. Also, asking for a cross to another brand might be feasible?

    How many gallons of oil did it take?

  • @brownnshiney
    @brownnshiney ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have this tractor. I did the oil change last month. That fill port is at a terrible angle. Try holding the 10 qt container of oil and the funnel and not spill any on the ground! An engineering failure for sure. I think we need to develop an adapter to change the angle. lol

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  ปีที่แล้ว

      I forgot about this... yeah, probably my biggest complaint about the tractor so far. I am assuming it was designed for multiple situations, some of which had different clearance issues. On this model, the fill neck does NOT need to be like that. Thanks for watching and commenting!
