  • I have to widen the trail to get the tractor back to the top of the point where we intend to camp soon. Once there, I need to take down a few small trees and scrape a few inches of sticks and leaves. We need some flat, smooth ground for a bigger tent.

    Yes!!! I want to do this in my back-40 eventually!! That tractor is awesome - looks very capable!

      I am starting to see that (especially with my skill level) a small machine is better when you're just trying to scrape the leaves off or do more sensitive work. Big machines usually have less visibility so it's hard to bite just the right amount of dirt... But I've got less than 50 hours of experience on the Massey so far.

    What is that box on the back holding the wood called? I want one. Nice channel!

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most people call that a "Carry All" of which there are a million different designs. It basically turns your tractor into a pickup truck while you can continue doing work with the loader. You can also still pull a trailer or wagon if you build a hitch into the carry all. Mine is a custom steel frame welded up to support the wood platform and sides. Thanks for watching!

  • @HillsideAcres
    @HillsideAcres 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like when you're about to cut a limb and just pull it off. Looks like you own a good amount of dirt, how much acreage total? The cedar trees will also make some good fence posts!

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Somewhere around 21 acres. Lots of hillside. I wish the knotty Virginia Pines (I think) were white oak and carried some real value. I do have a lot of small cedar. The higher elevations of my land were all bulldozed after a tornado in the 1970s, so I have a lot of faster growing species that hurt the hardwoods' chances of growing in those areas. A few small poplars and maples have grown on the edges of the field and yard.

    What model Husqvarna is that?

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. I'll have to look next time I'm in the barn. I know the bigger one is the old Rancher 55. The smaller one was a cheap backup I bought from Tractor Supply for about $150-$175 if I remember right. I've been considering a 460. What's your preference?

    • @FabbedFun

      Husqvarna 240, made in Sweden. YA!!!

      Depending on where you are, your local farm supply store has them. Around here it is Rural King or Tractor Supply in most towns.

    Just curious if you've ever measured the wheel width with your wheels flipped. And do the front tire tracks get cover by the rear tire track or are the fronts narrower?

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right now, I'm around 83" but could go wider in the back. I have left it there for the moment because it's an 84" bucket and very closely matches the front at their widest setting. Ben Kennedy at K&H Tractors gave me some wheel weights, but I need to flip the dishes in and space the rims out to make it work... which will actually make me about 2" wider if I remember right. Are you looking at the 2607H for a potential purchase?

    • @TimBinns68
      @TimBinns68 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FabbedFun Yes, the dealer is just trying to find one. It's going to be a while. The reason I ask is our garden is long 7' wide rows with grass walkways in between rows. I want to disc the garden with a 7' disc but keep the tires in the grass to limit compaction. It should work perfectly at 83".

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TimBinns68 It can go from the "in" setting and a 72" bucket to a few different "mid" settings and then a far "out" setting with the rears. I got the 84" bucket. You should have enough flexibility to make it work. I'm excited to see you get one and put some video up!

  • @TSPony
    @TSPony 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How much did you pay for the 2607? Im looking at getting one but the dealer is wanting 44k. Not sure if that's a good deal or not.

    • @FabbedFun
      @FabbedFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mid 30's, but everything like that has been going up with inflation and scarcity. Hard to get, but still in high demand... I wouldn't be surprised if they are a few thousand higher in less than a year. HOWEVER, I think I've seen some people selling them cheaper than 44k. Depending on where you are, you might look up a guy named Matthew Cox on Facebook who sells and delivers Masseys all over the place. He's usually doing subs and compacts, but had a 2606H ready to go just a few days ago. I got mine from a local dealer, but Matthew might be closer to you. Where are you located?

      Like worn out? They've only had about 140 hours and almost no road time besides crossing the street... They look pretty new up close... Thanks for watching!
