Definitely, the feeling for me of dropping arms to initiate the downswing as opposed to shifting weight has had an immense impact on ball striking, it prevents me from sliding and allows my hands to get in front of the body.

I recently purchased the Dewiz and it confirmed what I had long known, I have an over the top swing. I've watched loads of videos and it's not helped at all. Until I found this one. This is the first time I've ever been able to say this about a golf tutorial but this advice is game changing. Baby draws with all clubs, mostly straight (some small hooks) and about 10% longer with every club. And that's only the first session! I know I babe a lot more to do because it has only partially fixed the over the top swing according to my Dewiz.

Adam I honestly can't thank you enough for this video. I tried the straightening of the right arm today on the downswing today on course and I was flushing my irons. I've never seen anyone explain how to plane an iron that simply before in my life. I always thought getting into the slot was only something tour players could aspire to. You've restored my faith/love in this great game!.

Adam thank you very much. I struggled many rounds with hooking/ snap hooking the ball, just realized that it may be due to the fact that right arm was not unfolding in time and coming into impact high, over the top with a closed face, worst type of shot. The body keeps rotating but if arms don't lower, there is a serious issue with direction control. If the body does not rotate properly and right arm unfolds, the dreaded hit behind the ball is the result. Since watching your video, I am working on the blending of the body rotation and the right arm unfold (dynamic, as you mentioned). Can't wait to try it on the course, appreciate the expert video!

@@Scratchgolfacademy You're welcome. The reason I like this lesson so much is that it tangibly explains what happens between the arms, hands, wrist, body to produce a solid golf shot. And the easiest way to comprehend that is to think of a towel. You are a good coach.

Yeah absolutely ridiculous how important this move is. I always thought you tried to keep the arch in the downswing but once you reach top of backswing just pull club down. Never had so much hip rotation in all my life and never understood the concept of firing the hips until now. I tried it after watching this and just happier than any child in a candy store.

Brilliant golf instructional video Bazalgette! Two years ago, I first watched & liked this TH-cam video and recently watched again with the light bulb in my brain shining like a disco ball! At top of my backswing with wrists cocked I make a conscientious effort to thrust my right elbow toward my waist then let the clubface drop vigorously which leads my body to subconsciously follow through the entire swing. This has improved my ball striking to the point I often get accused of being a good golfer! You're a genius golf maestro Adam!!

IMO, Adam's way of explanation is the best I have ever seen. He keeps it 'real'...allowing you to incorporate the concept rather than the specific technique into your game. My swing is an eclectic mix of Gary Edwin, Freddie Couples, Bryson de Chambeau and remnants of Jim Furyk. I am striking the ball better today than I did when I played seriously, thanks to the simplicity that Adam brings. Thanks for all the content mate!

A little anecdote regarding the results I've experienced since having watched this video. 6 months ago I had a golf lesson, and towards the end when I was striking the ball fairly well, my instructor commented on how nicely I was hitting my 4 hybrid. Nice loft, flight around 165 yds. I continued with this distance for several months, then I came across this video. This video, specifically the towel drill, opened my eyes to the concept of whipping the club similar to whipping a towel (from inside to out). I've had to adjust my distances on every club in my bag, and my new average distance with the 4 hybrid is 195 yds. I've easily watched 100 golf instruction videos over the last 6 months but not a single one of them "changed my game" the way this one has. Thank you.

I saw my swing on a launch monitor video today and, of course, wasn’t pleased as I watched that club moving too “out” on the way down, being carried outward by my turn. So I just got done watching this video and went out into my backyard to try it out (straightening my trail arm a little sooner than normal). Its funny to say how much of a difference I saw from the video I took today from last week. Headed to the driving range now to give it a real hit.

Hi Adam, this is interesting advice as I always thought that the golf swing was about NOT using your arms in the swing i.e passive rather than active manner

This video and others have a great knack of describing the feel and incremental steps you can take to develop a better golf swing without becoming too mechanical. Thank you.

Light bulb moment for me. I have always gone out towards the ball rather than straight down from the top and my strike was always towards the heel, now it’s out the middle but does feel strange relying on my turn to get back to the ball. Now subscribed 👌

Amazing. I finally get it. Amazing results. Hinging the club head up to the top with my left wrist, soft folding right arm, and of course shoulders rotate down too. Unfolding the right arm forcefully from the top, soft left hand. The body responds naturally. And, allowing the body to square the club face up by getting the left shoulder back out of the way. Everything opens to the target. Everything that’s in motion stays in motion. I just tell myself left, right, left.
