Yesterday I finally broke 84 mph clubhead speed for my 8 iron. Almost 86. I was landing my ball at the 155 range. Rolling out to about 165. This was on the GSPRO range in my studio. I was stunned. Finally after about a year of working. Previously My swing was horrible. I could shoot in the high seventies but struggled. It will be a different story this year. I'm hoping.

Thanks Adam. Really applicable to me and as you are implying a ton of us amateur golfers . When you “get it “ , you hear this click and the way the ball flies of the club face is one of the best feelings in life. !!

Thanks Adam. Everyday in this sport is a challenge. Your lessons have been great. With your help I was able to shoot an 86 last week. Unfortunately, 2 days later shot 102. One thing you can’t fix is what’s between my ears. One or two bad shots and I blow up sadly to say. How will I ever fix that. 🤔😩

I struggle in my weight transfer and as such I have been keeping the weight on my lead foot throughout the whole swing and it has helped me quite a bit with exception to the odd long iron fat.
Is this ok or will it lead to more problems?

If you hang on your lead side throughout swing of can cause a steep angle of attack, can cost you power also

Great video Adam, been a subscriber for years. My son is 15 and has a habit of getting "stuck" , via firing his hips too soon. Do u have any advice or videos about how he can learn to stay more "connected", as in, not flying is lower body forward so quickly ahead of his torso? Cheers from Seattle, WA!

Great stuff. Any suggestions for inability to compress out of the rough and struggles when course is wet, wet rough or mushy areas being the worse

Adam Bazalgette Golf Tour Wins - none. You Might want to consider studying Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Gary Player, Johnny Miller, Sam Snead and the incomparable Seve Ballesteros to learn the game. The one thing about these guys, aside from all being Major winners, is that not one of them gives a single BS instruction to gain youtube clicks. if your swing is correct, you will always compress the ball. But, if you want to spend your time compressing the golf ball, get a shop vice, crank on that vice handle and compress away.

      Wow!!!
I agree that all time great stars of the game do it naturally.
That’s not 99% of people unfortunately. 35 years of full time teaching gives me certain perspectives. Multiple awards, active business, director David Leadbetter academy for 13 years.
What is the volume of training and experience you base your views on?
      No hard feelings

@@Scratchgolfacademy I suck at golf. However, know the basics. Grip, set-up, foot placement, left arm straight, and Lee Trevino's, pull the club down and Nicklaus hit the snot out of the ball at impact. As Fred Couples said, I know it doesn't look like it, but at impact I am trying to hit the ball as hard as I can.
Find me an armature that uses the proper grip is like finding a needle in a haystack. Of course, it is the Ben Hogan grip. Seve has, by far, the very best explanation and instruction on the proper grip.
Compressing the ball is a natural occurring moment when an amateur is taught the basics. It has to occur, and does occur. Right now it's a youtube fad on how to "compress" the ball.
Most amateurs can't compress the ball because, as you know, most cannot generate the brute force at impact. An impact that as Jack Nicklaus taught, in that final one and a half inches just before impact you "hit" the ball as hard as you can.
But, the basics don't get clicks. There is no BS magic trick to golf. The armature is totally unwilling to incorporate the basics into that holistic execution of the basics. Always looking for that BS tweak that will transform them. And youtube golf gurus are more than willing to perpetuate the myth of the magical tweak for the views. All the best. Golf is a great game.
