    Thank you for this video. Have been wondering about this since I came back from my friend's birthday party like 12 years ago!

    If I recall from previous research, there are actually three resonances in the vocal tract called "formants". We move these around, in frequency, as we speak.
    I would like to hear the woman's voice with sulfur hexafluoride.

    • @stephensnell1379
      @stephensnell1379 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sulfur hexafluoride will make a person's voice very deep making the person sound like Darth Vader

  • @actsrv9
    @actsrv9 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    TIL speech is basically resonant frequencies. Not just us, even dogs barking and birds chirping.

  • @Bladeofwar94
    @Bladeofwar94 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is an element or combination of elements that makes your voice deeper.

    its much denser and heavier than air, and it travels in and out of your mouth much slower so it decreases the resonant frequency of your mouth, amplifying the lower frequencies of your voice, so your voice sounds more "bassy". the exact opposite.
    i dont understand why it troubles you... helium is ligher than air (1/7th of air's density), sulfur hexafluoride is heavier (5times the density of air). hence, the effects of ihaling them are the opposite.

    I would like to know why my voice doesn't change. All it does is make me feel light headed. Everyone else has fun with this and then when I do it...the only way it changes is when I pretend. I used to think everyone was pretending. Maybe I am doing it wrong.

      You will feel light headed after breathing in helium as it will displace Oxygen and Helium does not contain any Oxygen either

    • @stephensnell5707
      @stephensnell5707 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You prune,it doesn't hurt a human's health it only displaces Oxygen but as Helium is so weightless it will exit the body very quickly and more Oxygen will then enter the body returning things to normal again
      Helium Gas is totally harmless

    Hii, I really really love your videos, and drawings, but I would really like that you use a board to draw and not paper, because you're wasting so much paper :( and it makes me feel guilty for liking your videos hahaha so please if you could do them in a board and go errase them while you explain, it would be so much ecological, so I hope you take into account my recommendation, thank you so much :)

      Vivi Ruiz yes don't try it

    • @stephensnell1379
      @stephensnell1379 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vivi Ruiz helium can only kill if you breath it directly from a pressurised tank of helium gas as this will cause a helium bubble to form in your brain then that will trigger off an embolism and also the high pressure will burst your lungs which will then resultnl in immediate DEATH!⚠
      When the gas is put in a 🎈 the pressure gets much lower thus it will be safer if you want to do it(you won't die doing it this way but do flush it out from time to time)

    • @stephensnell1379

      Yes by opening your mouth when it's filled with helium the gas will dissipate as its very light and to bring the body back to normal just having breaths of oxygen will get rid of the high pitched voice
