The way of explaining concepts is the best . It helps to understand and grasp very easily. Thanks for making such videos...!!!!

Great work! best description I have seen on stimulated emissions. Hard concept for me to get my hands around but getting there! Thanks!

thats all well and good but how do you turn off a laser, how do you stop atoms from being stimulated

If you remove the potential being applied to the medium (gas, ruby, etc), then no more energy is being "injected." The remaining electrons will "relax" to their ground state, and the laser turns off.
There is a small portion of time where the photons will excited other electrons, which will then emit photons when they relax, but the time this takes to happen will not be noticeable.

how would u be able to make a laser gun then?

But those few photons perpendicular to the end mirrors will stimulate more atoms, creating many other photons, right? I've never studied any of these things but that's how I understand it.

If I understood this correctly, photons traveling at any angle that's not perpendicular to the 2 end mirrors are absorbed by the side walls. Therefore only the few photons travelling perpendicular to the end mirrors will escape as part of the laser beam. This sounds incredibly inefficient. Imagine if you could redirect ALL the photons into the same beam.

Why does only 1% pass trough the mirror?

I suppose the structure of the mirror is 1% of non reflecting glass. My hypothesis though, I don't really know

Thanks. Surprised to see Lasers mention in the Writings of the Baha'i Faith....
"We have observed an amazing thing. Lightning or a force similar to it is controlled by an operator and moveth at his command. Immeasurably exalted is the Lord of Power Who hath laid bare that which He purposed through the potency of His weighty and invincible command." - Baha'u'llah (1880s I think.)

So that 1% goes out to be the laser that we see, and the rest reflects and makes more photons
