    Oct 2023 and I'm 4 years and 11 months into my Note 9. While I'm not a power user, my phone still works great! No more updates from Samsung of course but everything else is fine. My battery can still last me almost a full day. And I'm still rocking the original basic clear case that came in the box. I'm going to runt his thing until the wheels fall off 🤞

    I am still rocking my Note9. And it is still an amazing phone. Best Note ever in my opinion, as it had all the things you want or you don't. Everyday I use the Iris scanner, 3d home button, headphone jack, sd card also comes handy at times. I really love this phone. I hope newer models did improve in those aspect but they removed those. The things this phone lack is software. If it had proper software optimization, it would had been way better till date. Using Gcam even proved how capable it's camera is but let down by the software. There is a lot things many Reviewers never come upon is longevity. And all the things that comes up by time to add with the experience. Reviewers mostly never cover those aspects, as they barely keep their phone for a year, or use it's whole option. Some issues I had were like back panel sometimes would come off. The glue becomes weak and let's loose the back panel. Buttons also seems to wear out, even though I barely use them instead of option by software. There are many cons and pros all because how Samsung let it to be.
    I wish they made same exact phone but with newer hardware and software.

      Do you think the custom rom like linage os will help the longevity aspect from this device? I'm planning to adopt the note series but I dont want to spend money on the s23 ultra and I found note 9 is an interesting phone.

    • @nazmulhuda3262.
      @nazmulhuda3262. 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @fdboyful I am not sure. It might help in many ways enabling many features but also might introduce some bugs and errors. It might also void Knox, which would disable secure folder, Samsung pass, etc. It's all about what you want and if it's worth using custom rom.

    @axlcrush ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Still rocking my Note 9 after 5 years. I still find it hard to justify upgrading to later models including the S23Ultra or even the upcoming S24. The only reason is the 2 day battery life but I work in the office where it’s always on a dock so…..I am getting greater joy seeing how long the Note 9 can last lol…
    And thanks for reminding me of the iris scanner! I wear a face mask, and with my finger print scanner not as sensitive anymore (the coating scratched off), iris scanner solves the problem. Another reason to strive for note 9 immortality!

  • @TUS2101
    @TUS2101 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I still love my Note 9. I replaced the battery some days ago, and had the problem, that the new battery was not charged to its rated voltage, so it didn't reach its full potential. There is a file where your battery cycles are saved in, which was about 1300 in my case. Samsung drops the final charging voltage when the cycle count is really high. The only way to edit this file and set it to 0 was to root the phone. So I dicided to install Noble ROM 3.6 with root support and man I love it. Also the reset of the charge counter gave me arround 400 mAh more capacity same as when the phone was new. With the new battery power and actual software it feels like a new phone. The only thing that is missing with this ROM is the iris scanner but no dealbreaker for me also Samsung pass does not work because of knox counter, but I use google now for that. But everthing else works fine. The fresh feel and snappiness was definetly worth it. I will hold on to this phone for some more years I think. I don't want to give up SD support, headphone jack or 1440p display and I am not ready to pay 1000+ bucks for a phone that lacks features that my old phone has.

    I used a Note 9 512GB as my main phone until last week. I kept it for so long because it had a proper rectangular display with no hole, card slot, headphone jack, and also a ton of internal storage. I had a 1TB microSD card in it on top of the 512gb effectively making it a 1.5TB phone.
    The only suitable replacement for me was the Sony Xperia 1 IV because it has a microSD card slot which I could put my existing card into and a 512GB storage option for my region unlike the V that is out now. It also has the headphone jack and a screen without any holes in it just like the Note 9. The only compromise is the loss of the S-Pen.
    The Note 9 was the last good Samsung device in my view, and I would tell anyone who still has a Note 9 for the reasons I had one to not buy a new phone from Samsung. I did not want to reward Samsung for forcing downgrades onto me with their new generation of phones. Verizon kept spamming me to trade for a 128GB base S23 to replace my Note 9. Literally 1/10 the storage in the phone I was using, lower resolution screen with a disgusting hole camera, smaller, no S-Pen, or headphone jack. Then I see Samsung ads on Twitter to sell their trash folding phone and the ad literally said to buy it because it's a "flex" and "trendy". No thanks.

    S9 and Note 9 last real Samsung phones, it was a utility beast, the only thing it did not have I say was a IR blaster. I am happy with my S23 Ultra, especially because in Europe we got the Exynos chips, the S23U is the first after many years we get to use Snapdragon again but Note 9 is a true legacy.

    Using my note 9 right now and only thing I would change is the screen and battery and keep on using it. It's great for what I use it for an I can guarantee without a doubt I use my note 9 to do waaaaaay more things than the average person with a S22, S23 or any higher end phone. I use this phone even as a speaker for my laptop etc among many other things. It's not the device most times but what you use it for and Note 9 does the job perfectly. Fingerprint scanner is fast and has gestured compared to any ohone with in screen scanners. Love Bixby button that one click takes me to WhatsApp or any other app and Bixby itself is good enough to set timers, do searches set calender etc. Camera is fast and great and if you need better get a professional digital camera. I try to remember is a ohone first with a camera. It's fast still never lags. Only phone I would maybe go with is the Note 10+ but wouldn't kill to go that route. SD card is good for if your phone crash all your pics are saved to just pop out. People with a dead phone has no use for 512bg of internal memory. So overall still a great phone even for the next 5 years.

    Nice to see you are showing love to one of my favorite Note phones! I miss this phone and I am thinking of getting it back and replacing this crappy midrange A71 5G that is slow and doesn't operate as good as it did two years ago but what I love about the Note 9 and many other phones from these times is no ugly notch, hole punch, SD Card, heaphone jack, and no millions of cameras on the back of the phone making it look ugly to look at.
    I don't mind the bezels like this because it makes the phone look nicer in my opinion and better viewing while playing games or watching TH-cam in full screen. The Note 10 is nice but I'm not a fan of that big boxy style and at least this phone has the headphone jack.
    Also before any one comments, no I don't care about software updates, I'm fine with getting an older phone that's better without updates than all the new garbage phones with updates.

  • @ThaShowStopper

    I definitely agree that this phone is so great but I also agree with you and the Note 10+ was the peak for me! Yes the headphone jack was crucial for me but "Glow" iridescent backing & just everything about the 10 plus was so sharp! But I totally get why people love this one it's a stupid close second place for me 🫡🫡🫡 You've been in your zone dropping content non stop brother! Keep it up! 🫡🫡🫡

    I switch between Note 9 and iPhone 13 mini. I hang onto note 9 for its built in fm radio using headphone jack to keep up with current affairs on the go no data needed. I added 500gb microSd to boost storage. Its ultra snappy with 0 animation. Camera is decent. S pen is decent. Battery is fine. Security updates are just money grabs to keep u buying newer phones with no added value and its endless. I got iPad mini for serious gaming actually if you're not using note 9 you're just part of the problem lol.

    Just ordered one. Went from iphone pro max to zfold 4 to iphone 13 mini, now to a note 9, its hard to beat, the s pen is great for doodling and daily note taking, physical finger print scan, real iris scan, headphone jack so i can use my studio headphones, the micro sd card slot is super handy, camera is honestly good enough, im no photographer but for an old phone the photos are pretty damn nice, im not taking giant landscape pics so i dont need all the megapixels, also editing and photoshop with the s pen is fun. As for the software, im all for modding android software, its basicly a computer in your pocket. I have a note 10 plus as well, but its kinda fragile, no headphone jack, its good but the note 9 just feels different tho,

    My toddler cracked my Note 9 screen earlier this year and so i have just upgraded to the S23 Ultra after 4 years. This is my honest opinion:
    The S23 Ultra is incredible and the improvements it brings to the table do just about outweigh the lack of SD card, Headphone jack and Iris scanner support. It is so pleasant and fluid to use and while just about everything has been improved i am most in love with the massive and silky smooth display, the ridiculously good battery life and the cameras which quite simply blow my trusty Note 9 out of the water.
    Having said all of that... if my Note 9 wasn't broken i would have happily continued using it for at least another year. Yes it's no longer getting updates, but it is still extremely capable and actually includes more hardware features than any newer flagships seem to have. I do also miss the rear fingerprint scanner that i previously used to bring down the notifications no matter what app i was in.
    In conclusion: if you have a Galaxy Note 9 that's still working well and in good condition, keep using it and treasure it while you still can! Save those pennies for the S24 or even the S25 if you can last that long. But if your Note 9 is broken i would not recommend buying the same phone again as support for it from various apps is only going to get worse while a new phone will have plenty of life for years to come

But overall between this, the S10e, Note 10 Plus and Moro G Stylus, not to mention the 2020 Moro Razr, it’s really becoming hard to choose which of them to REALLY go for as an iPhone user that’s looking to switch as well as one looking to switch while on a budget.

    I just couldn't replace my Note 9 512GB until my work needed newer than Android 10. It really was ahead of its time and had features that I really wanted. SD Card, (still rocking an extra 256 GB), headphone jack (my car's bluetooth has worse audio quality running at SBC codec), still has enough ram to run fast, the remote S-Pen features like remote camera shutter, Iris scanner especially if I'm cooking/grilling with gloves on.
    It still feels bitter sweet now that I'm about to upgrade to S24 Ultra. It's really like Samsung lost its soul after 2018, the year of Note 9. After years of mocking Apple, Samsung gave in and just became another phone manufacturer copying others then just adding a little extra WHILE taking out the wanted features.

      I would hang on to note 9 as backup music player at least. SD card and SD card makes it well suited

    The last true Samsung Galaxy Note with all the practical essential features except the removable battery it has the phone jack and SD Card. Removing them is injustice that is why I still have mg 8GB/512GB paired with NextDock Touch I almost don't need a full fledge laptop.

    I have both the Note 9 & 10. Love them both but the iris scanner on the 9 is more secure than face unlock on the 10.

    I recently got a Xiaomi 11 Lite 5g NE as a main phone, but I still use the Galaxy Note 9. I didn't want to upgrade to a newer phone but I had to because of the not so great battery life on the Note9 these days, so I decided on a compromise, the Note 9 is now a dex station for me, basically a second computer for productivity and writing. It's amazing how good this phone was built. t was build to last and it does it's job amazingly well even now.
    On a side note, I wanted to upgrade to a new Galaxy note, but I realized they removed the Note lineup altogether, I didn't even know about this until I started searching for a new Galaxy note, considering you have to play for the S22U or S23U to get the S-Pen lol... So that's why I decided to get the Xiaomi instead.

    Exynos is better more stable if you change the developer setting regarding display speed ......its almost as fast as the new ones.....yes this is the best samsung phone build ......mine 24/7 and for 5 years now and still the battery is ok! Still using it every day....this phone was too good(the build) it has watercooling for cpu thats why gaming still super. And they get it off the market pretty quick because it was too good! No money making when your products last too long.....
