- Compilation of songs in which Martha Wash shows her beautiful head voice (in chronological order of the albums).
As Whitney Houston said, Martha has a "gigantic, fabulous, tremendous, rock kick-an'ass voice". But she also has one of the most beautiful head voices. She used to easily sing in F5-C6 range, sometimes higher.
I hope she'll continue to show us some more in her upcoming solo album (scheduled for 2019).

She is and always will be a soprano. She's just older now, so it's obvious that her head voice and belting register is not going to be as was in her prime. Still, that's a very beautiful and complex head voice. Capable of runs and coloratura. Amazing!
Top drawer singing. She is just awesome.
Martha is always a first choice. She knows her shit. Dang Martha can get it, I’m writing this as I’m listening. She can sure uplift that voice. Love you always Martha. ♥️
She is a dramatic soprano
Eugh! Love all these rare clips! Amazing collection
Love her voice!!! Thank you.
Oh gosh this is sooooO breathtaking 😃 thank you 😊♥️
4:23 high G6! 😮
She sounds more like a big lyric than dramatic.
What's the name of the song in the intro? 00:01
“Rocking Jerusalem” where can I find this?
Who sings the first song ? Please cannot find it
Martha. God bless the road
Okay but why is her live stuff her just singing mid belts
I guess because her range has getting smaller with age… or even if she still can, it must be harder for her to reach high notes.
Can you please tell me what is the first song in the intro?
God bless the road
What's the first song?
God bless the road
Whst year did she record with the San Francisco choir?
I don’t really know that. None of the 3 LPs of SF Polytechnic high school choir that I have mention a year of release. I guess Martha was between 14 and 18yo.
But the San Francisco Inspirationnal choir LP was released in 1974.
@@soulfulvoices2341 im trying to find the recording that you used in the second clip
feeniix6 You mean « Rocking Jerusalem » ? It’s not on TH-cam
@@soulfulvoices2341 no. Her work with the San Fran Inspirational Choir. I only can find the live version and she is not apart of that.
feeniix6 It was on TH-cam before. I have it and will try to post it when I can ;)
I heard she was a falcon soprano.
Kaya Rogers I’m not sure about that. Some people say she was a dramatic soprano. But her voice has changed with time. So It’s hard to know...
Dramatic mezzo soprano
@@soulfulvoices2341 question do she speak in a high voice or low voice ? Low to me know she have a good upper soprano register but the speaking voice always been low so that tell me she is a dramatic Soprano . Same with Mariah Carey low voice high soprano upper register
Darrian Mcneil Yes my hésitation was between dramatic soprano or mezzo.
@@soulfulvoices2341 right either way she can sing her speaking voice is kinda low but sound soft and clear
Her voice type is not soprano though it's not about range it's about voice type
Martha herself said she was a soprano. It’s true that now she sounds more like a mezzo...
@@soulfulvoices2341 right she more soprano as a a teen before she got famous she was talking about her biography
@@soulfulvoices2341 her range is d3-f6
Normal soprano.... not even a dark-voiced one.
@@KajiVocals I don't know about that she is a dramatic soprano her speaking voice and singing voice on the voice spectrum is dark. Even all voice analysis say she is a dramatic soprano .
