Cyndi's voice is just incredible, it gives me goose bumps and makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up at times. Whatever the style of song, she nails it every time. She can sing soft and sweet, or blow the roof off the place. She's amazing. And to be fair, these aren't even the best examples of her singing.
Lauper has no comparasion she brings a new style in the pop not for singing and in ihre unique style. Technique wise i feel like their even they both surprisingly kept up with each other, sometimes Cyndi vibrato sounded a bit shaky and more shouty than Ariana. But other times her notes sounded way better. And shes like old..er, the fact that this good comparison is amazing.

Its about the vibrato. I like most of cyndi ones. Plus Arianas always sings over a pillow made by the band which is more dense insted of the cyndis which is very raw a porous mainly due the difference of their styles.

I will say that Cyndi’s is VERY NATURAL..whereas Ariana’s are learned. There’s a BIG difference between Natural and Learned..and that’s with everything. Just like naturally very smart people, and the people that actually had to learn everything

I would say that both have a good technique (maybe Ariana's is slightly better in the sense that she is less often out of tune) but their approach to highest notes differ a bit. Ariana's tone (from F#5 onwards) is slighty more "airy" (and open sounded) while Lauper's tone sounds a bit more connected with the middle part of her tesitura (the drawback is that she sounds a bit more strained/unstable sometimes). This is partly because Lauper's natural voice is more squeaky than Ariana's and partly because Ariana tends to use too many high notes like G#5 (Focus, Problem, etc) and she adopts that lighter approach to avoid straining her voice too much (which I think is counterproductive, by the way). I use to like way more Ariana's C5-F#5 notes rather than G5-B5 notes for that reason. Both are solid in their high register, so it is more a matter of the coulour of the sound. Personally, I prefer Lauper's tone, cause, as i said, it sounds more connected and less airy in the very upper part.* *In this video you take clips from Lauper at very different ages. What I said abut the more-connected sound is true specially in her prime (until 2000s approx- A good example from this period is her perfomance of the song at 10:06). Afterwards her voice, although strong, becomes a bit less agile, as expected

Her tongue is retracted down on to the back of her throat that’s why her voice sounds muffled.
