Stuart, another awesome video! I love seeing your boys in the shop. Today, I had my two youngest grandsons 4 and 7 in mine. I’m making a 4 x 8 fab table for their dad’s shop. I was welding and the 7 yr old wanted to weld, of course, then little brother wanted to try. Spent the next hour with boys and the weldor. It was so emotional for me. Another generation on their way!
Thank you sir. I love having them out there. I love that you have 3 generations learning the trade. Keep up the great work brother! Thanks for watching!
The lesson you shared for your fabri-hater is exactly what I’m trying to teach my 5yo daughter. It doesn’t have to be perfect first go around. We all make mistakes. Rome wasn’t built in a day and you gotta crawl before you can walk before you can run. I appreciate you sharing your mistakes, that helps me learn. Thank you.
I feel like when you don’t share the mistakes with the accomplishments, you’re only sharing half of the valuable information. Keep up the work with your daughter. I know it’s never wasted effort with your kids. Thanks for watching!
Nice job on the shelf. One of the first mods I did for my lathe upon getting it set up was to build a tool holder for the backsplash and then a shelf above that for cutting fluids, etc. As for the "fabrihaters", I've struggled with my fair share of tasks and those have been the ones I actually learned the most from. I don't think anyone is born with the knowledge and we have to build and improve our skillsets each and every day, but it does seem to come easier to some than others. We all had to learn somehow and anyone who says they haven't messed up, hasn't done anything. It get tired of the negativity and "know it all's". I seem to enjoy following those who treat TH-cam more of a community of skilled people trying to help one another. Mike
Anyone who puts themselves out there for the public to critique,(such as yourself) will definitely find some negative people. It’s the nature of the beast. But I would agree that it is much more beneficial to all of us if it is treated as a community where we can all learn together. Thanks for watching, Mike.
You and me both brother. He still shoots it all the time and it works great, so I guess that’s the good news. But I don’t know that there is much in my life that does go real smooth.😂
Great content! Keep preaching about the haters your doing great and its harder to be nice and it is easy for people to get into the negative comments vs. being positive and like you said learning from your mistakes. I know I have and that is how I learn and teach my children. Take Care Keep it up
Thank you, I feel like it’s important to be honest about my mistakes and shortcomings. I feel like Denial is a pitfall that dams our progress. Thanks for watching!
I was working on my Atlas 12 the last few days,I took it apart thinking I'd be off during the scamdemic, finally getting back on it.I 3d printed some AXA holders that will mount on some 3030 extrusion.will see if it will hold up. great video! gave me some ideas for mine.
Another great video. You could weld a few pipes to the vertical leg of the shelf instead of the hooks. A couple 3/4” pipes would allow the sides of the T handles to slide into them and maybe a pc of 1 1/2 for the hammer head. Save the hooks for another project. Prob fit that wrench handle in a 2nd piece of 1 1/2 im guessing. Also, time to get that boy on the welder, get him a cordless drill for his birthday. He’s got the interest! Keep it alive. Great channel. To hell with the haters- bunch of children who don’t know how to bite their tongues and im sure havent worked a day in their lives.
Being a heavy equipment mechanic and a fabricator we all make mistakes and we all learn by them been doing it all my life 71 years old now and still doing it
I generally enjoy vids where the OP fails or has a hard time. Why? 1- it shows honesty and humility. 2- If a vid only shows the success, what if I run into an issue that the vid doesn’t show? I’d rather see the many ways I can fail, so that I can be better prepared. Good stuff. Fabri-haters can go fabri-screw themselves.
I feel like it’s important to be real. The learning process can be brutal at times, but it’s necessary. If I don’t show that, it’s just a movie. Thanks for watching!

A couple reasons, actually. 1. Because when you use Tig welding for thin plate like this, it puts a lot let heat into the part, helping to avoid distortion. 2. Having an open corner joint on small plate, It’s much easier to Tig weld, and be able to control how much filler metal you put into the joint, which in turn looks a lot better, and less clean up.
