Dude, this is peak Cold Chisel. I'm a 53 year old Australian who lived through this era. Jimmys growl came mostly after Cold Chisel, as a solo artist. And vocal maturity.

Indeed I'm the same age. His grit came after he stopped dropping a bottle or two of Jim Beam or JD during his early years concerts😆😂😂

Believe it or not but this is more regular cold chisel. Flame trees, breakfast at sweethearts, this was what Aussie pub rock was all about. Pretty much middle of the road rock. All these bands had to play live at the local pub so had to appeal to a wide audience.

This is how I fell in love with Jimmy voice. And why it's so annoying when people say he can't sing. Because this is what I remember of Jimmy knowing how pure his voice was. Before the grit. The harmonies are beautiful, " there be no more turning back" magic.❤️‍🔥💯❤️

One of Australia's most cherished - and still played today - 'radio songs'. A story in a song, too thank you to the late, great Steve Prestwich, who gave us more than one iconic track. Yes, that is definitely a reggae bass line, and Moss's guitar work is sweet.

Well picked with the reggae influence. Chisel have it in another couple of their songs. Steve Prestwich was a great writer and drummer. Has a couple of solo albums where he sings and plays guitar. I ordered one directly from him, arrived signed and followed up with an email from him checking that I got it and if I liked it. A humble and brilliant man.

This is one of my Top 3 Cold Chisel tracks. 40 years old but hasn't aged a day. Classic Aussie rock with Ian Moss' signature guitar and Jimmy holding back a little to deliver a subtle but incredibly well-written song by the late Steve Prestwich. I'd never considered it to have a reggae influence, but you always bring something different to a reaction video!

The Pub Rock era in Australia was the best. The bands would happily mix it up with the locals. There were bands, big & small playing at almost every pub every weekend everywhere across Australia from the big cities to the smaller towns to the outback watering holes. It was a great time to be young & in love with the music scene, celebrating life.

Welcome to the easy-breezy "feel" of Australia 🇦🇺 in 1982-83. Forever Now is still my favourite Cold Chisel song. I was 16 when it was released and Jimmy Barnes was only a young 26 year old when he sang it, hence, he hadn't yet done all the heavy drinking etc. that damaged his voice creating that characteristic gravel and rasp. The other reason for the different feel of this song is that it was written by the drummer Steve Prestwich.

  • @mrmockatoo6786

Great song by Chisel. Another Steve Prestwich classic to add to When the War is Over. For all the jokes about drummers, here was one drummer who could write great songs. Mossy's guitar work was sizzling as were Jimmy's vocals. Kappy would have something profound to say but she's muffled up with bandages (oh the sweet silence)...Get well, Kappy.
