INXS (said "in excess") Michael Hutchence the lead singer was at this stage a star in his own right but its the model of music in Australia the young up and coming performers often collabed with the senior performers like this and there was this respect for performers and bands because it was so darn hard to make your mark on the world stage. Its not so prevalent these days as Australia is more connected to the rest of the world but the support is still there they still come together like a family. But these were truly the golden days of rock in Australia. By the way Jimmy Barnes played at my school formal when his band was called Blue Chisel and I saw INXS first concert tour performance all highlights in my life and remembered vividly. It is a pleasure to see you as a young American discovering the riches of Australian music. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Good Times originally an Easy Beats song with Stevie Marriott/Small Faces singing chorus. George Young was their rhythm player and older brother to Angus and Malcolm of AC/DC. It was the beginning of some fabulous artists that followed.
I was there. My first concert - “Australian Made” National Tour - went all day and into the night, all the best Aussie bands in the charts at the time (and still) were on the bill. They all got up and jammed this at the end of the night. I was in my early teens and it was SO GOOD.

I love hearing you!! You are priceless! INXS were a great iconic Australian band. Sadly, Michael has passed on. I think you would enjoy listening to Never tear us apart by INXS.
I was at KGV oval Nipaluna (Hobart) watching this, first concert I ever went, and over 30 years later still the best. I was sitting on someone's shoulders (I was a lot lighter back then) and thinking this IS LIVING! Still got the 'good times' singlet - wore it to an 80s themed party a couple of years ago. This concert, in particular the perfromace of this song, had me hooked on lived music - still am! These days I photograph live music!
I was there for the Adelaide concert as it was Australian Made concert , all Australian bands all day then Cold Chisel with Jimmy Barnes then INXS .. it was absolutely beautiful to see them all out geez my sister and I were up front in the mosh pit .. Sunburnt but we didn’t care .. a moment we will never forget. 😎
I am beyond excited for you to discover so much more of Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel - Khe Sahn, bow river, breakfast at sweethearts, flametrees, Saturday Night, standing on the outside… I could honestly go on for far too long. Not to mention Cold Chisel guitarist Ian Moss and his song Tuckers Daughter… And don’t even get me started on Paul Kelly - To her door. Noiseworks - take me back. My man, you have only just scratched the surface of an entire rabbit hole of Aussie Legends!
The lead singer of INXS is Michael Hutchence & he sadly passed away at the age of 37 in 1997. He was an absolute rock star in the worlds eyes from they way that he was performing on stage. He was one Aussie icon from the songs that he wrote.
I'm loving your reactions to our great Aussie singing legends. INXS lead singer Michael Huchence sadly died in 1997. There music is iconic. Also Midnight Oil is another great Aussie band. 🙂👍
One thing I will always treasure is the last concert at the old Fishermans wharf on the Gold coast, Australia where even Nirvana and the violent femmes played, I went to. The band, INXS just before Michaels passing. Amazing but he kept inviting his mum to come. She lived in main beach, just up the road. One of my all time favourite artists and bands and he is missed.
INXS are my favourite Australian band and Michael Hutchence their lead singer was my first crush as a kid and my 4 older siblings took me to every concert with them growing up, unfortunately this concert wasn’t one of them but I have seen Jimmy live and INXS was my first ever concert and the feeling I got watching you react to this video is almost as good as how that 1st concert felt, thanks for another amazing reaction. Rest In Peace Michael Hutchence
Hey my request. Amusing that you break into 'Living on a Prayer' considering Jimmy has performed this song with Bon Jovi. This particular performance was the closing song of a concert tour called 'Australian Made', which was INXS (In Excess) & Jimmy's attempt to prove to Australian promoters that our home grand talent could fill stadiums. It has a bit of that 'Family BBQ' appeal because it's a bit of a who's who of Australian music at the time. Joining them on stage were Chrissy Amphlett of the Divinyls, Chris Baily of The Saints, David McComb of The Triffids and Sean Kelly of The Models. Song itself is a cover of a song originally performed by The Easybeats, Jimmy & INXS recorded it for the Lost Boys soundtrack. INXS themselves as far as I'm concerned, is the best band from here to make it big internationally. AC/DC were content to tread water and stick to their fomula, INXS evolved with every single album they released, and were never content to stick to a particular sound. There isn't really a day that goes by in my life where some INXS tunes don't get played As for their lead singer (Michael Hutchence), well you've said Farnsey and Diesel could have any woman they wanted. Michael not only could, but did. He was a true rock god of a frontman, dripping in charisma the way others drip in sweat. Don't worry about getting their name wrong (it's In Excess), when I first saw one of their posters on my cousins wall when i was 5 or 6, I thought it was pronounced Inks.
The biggest band in the world at one stage. I have seen them half a dozen times , they never disappointed. They are in my Top 3 of 5 Aussie bands. Wembley concert epitomises their great stage performance and crowd participation.
The music we grew up with in Aus, Barnsey, Farnsey, Cold Chisel, INXS, The Angels, Oils, and so many more - Seen all of these hundreds of times live, in pubs & concerts - how lucky are we 🇦🇺
Just started following this morning. Watching all of your videos on Aussies. I'm from South Australia and grew up in Elizabeth where Jimmy Barnes is from. I love your reactions to us Aussies. Keep up the good work
I was so heartbroken when the late great Michael died. I cherish that I got to see INXS with Ziggy Marley on August 28 1988 here in Cincinnati. You really need to react to some INXS, two of my fave of their songs are Kick and Mystify. I know you watched this because of your love of Jimmy, but glad it introduced you to them by way of him joining them at their show.
Great memories of Barnsey touring New Zealand, 4 or 5 years in a row, in my early 20's over the summer holidays. Doing all the coastal town pubs, up and down the country. Sunburnt and pissed at the pub, after a day surfing, listening to Barnsey belting out Khe San. How good.
Well I just might as well hurt myself and get it over with because I've done lost it and I don't care if it never comes back as long as I'm listening to this ! This is In another demension ! Wow wow wow wow wow ! Dude I go straight to this song when I get pumped up cause between you and Jimmy Barnes and The rest of the singers and band members captivates me.
I was at the Brisbane venue of this concert tour. It was the Made in Australia concert tour in either 86 or 87 can't remember which year. It had Divinyls, Saints, Triffids, Jimmy Barnes, Mental as anything and INXS. It was Summer, it was hot and humid, the music was head thumpingly loud. IT was AWESOME!!!!! Michael Hutchinson was at the peak of his sexiness. Jimmy was making a name for himself after Cold Chisel, INXS and Divinyls had just got back from their USA tours. There seemed to be more concerts in the 80s where a few bands got together and did concert tours around Australia, not just one main band and the supporting act. They all sang a couple of songs as individual acts, and then they would all got together at the end and blew the roof off with a couple of big songs. This was the final song in this concert tour. It had all the acts on stage singing their hearts out. RIP all the greats here that are now gone.
Two epic singers. Great song. There's so much more to listen to. You are going to be busy. Midnight Oil, Powderfinger, Baby Animals, The Angels, Rose Tattoo. So much more. Thanks, ✌
This tune is a bogan anthem from way back. And having these tunes resurfacing again by a new generation who hear it for the first time is gr8 to see. Thanx to the internet
Dude, you just opened up a can of worms now with INXS! I'll put it out there now: Look up 'Original Sin' by INXS. One of their biggest hits from the mid 80s. Interesting fact about this song is that Darryl Hall from Hall and Oates is one of the back up singers in the chorus. Hope to hear it down the track.
I was there at that concert. Right at the front. A whole day of Australian music. You can even see me in the Divinyls video.. Aqua shirt ... It was the most amazing concert...
BEST. DAY. EVER! Caught the show in Sydney. Fantastic line-up of great Aussie bands. It was called "Australian Made " and there is a DVD out there but, like Woodstock, they missed a performance.
now you find Micheal Hutchence, your lost in Aussie music now mate, now you just need to learn about Ross Wilson(Daddy Cool), Angry Anderson(Rose Tattoo) and so many more the rest of the world has missed out on
@@koolmick1878 i have found watching reactionists from other countries, that the oils aren't a good one unless the requester provides background about each song and the band. Most people overseas would not have a clue about australian history or politics

The shirt Jimmy is wearing is from a major tour in Australia called Australian Made back in 1986-87. I was at the Subiaco Oval concert and it was absolutely amazing. The line up consisted of Mental as Anything, I'm Talking, The Triffids, The Saints, Divinyls, Models, INXS and even Jimmy Barnes. All amazing Ozzie talent.
I attended the Melbourne Australian made concert and it was phenomenal.. I felt exactly like you are describing x I was 16 at that time. Now 51 and still listening to all these bands and seeing them in concert when they play. I remember I had no voice for a week after it from singing and screaming haha
Glad you liked it brother. We pronounce INXS - like this “in excess”. OMG! INXS, Jimmy Barnes & Chrissie Amphlett on backing vocals!!! I loved Michael’s voice, especially with Jimmy
I know I'm a bit late but the GORGEOUS lady you see on stage singing next to Salmon Shirt Groover is Chrissy, The lead singer of the Divinyls. She was and still the most coolest female aussie rock chic! (RIP C.A)
Honestly Jimmy's concerts are just brilliant, I have seen him 4 times and everytime was a blast. He has a very Aussie sense of humour and you just never know what he is going to do next.
Yeah, I was there. This was part of a festival which featured Australia's best artists of the 80s playing an all day and night concert. I went to the Adelaide show, which was on New Year's Day, 1987. I was 21 at the time. We partied hard the night before, real hard. Went to bed at 6am, drunk as f*ck. Got up at 10am to go to the festival in a very poor state. It was stinking hot that day too, with no cover, so we were hungover under the sun. INXS were the last act and Jimmy joined them on the stage for this song, the last song of the show. I was totally spent, but seeing 2 icons of the Australian music industry lifted me up for the 100th time that day. Oh, and still remember the lines for drinks were ridiculous, so we gave some kids on bikes money to go to a local store and bring us back water, plus a tip. They were smart enough not to run and stayed in business all day.
I was there at the Cronulla show in Sydney. Australian Made Concert series back in 1987. The bands playing were Mental as Anything, I'm Talking, The Triffids, The Saints, Divinyls, Models, INXS and Jimmy Barnes. 'Good time tonight' was in the charts at the time and they played that to close the show. Back then you weren't allowed to take cameras to the events but I was able to sneak mine in, and I still have the photos from the mosh pit about 10 meters from the front of the stage.
I don’t understand how my nights have recently become about watching an American react to Aussie artists I grew up on, but I ain’t mad 🤷🏼♂️

I love hearing you!! You are priceless! INXS were a great iconic Australian band. Sadly, Michael has passed on. I think you would enjoy listening to Never tear us apart by INXS.
Inxs are so goood. A great aussie band!
History of music in one song
RIP Michael. Jimmy in his prime was the sound and soul of Australian rock.... still is, actually.
Love the application you have for Aussie musicians we down here all free up on. Thanks Nick, mate☺️👍
I saw INXS live in a pub in Sydney around 1979/80,before they became famous,it was packed to the rafters, bloody awesome gig
Michael Hutchence another Aussie legend. Thanks for your reaction.
I love the sheer joy Jimmy brings you.
Jimmy bro, he is the most genuine person ever❤❤❤
Loved listening to Michael Hutchence. Legend.
I am beyond excited for you to discover so much more of Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel - Khe Sahn, bow river, breakfast at sweethearts, flametrees, Saturday Night, standing on the outside… I could honestly go on for far too long.
Not to mention Cold Chisel guitarist Ian Moss and his song Tuckers Daughter…
And don’t even get me started on Paul Kelly - To her door.
Noiseworks - take me back.
My man, you have only just scratched the surface of an entire rabbit hole of Aussie Legends!
Thanks for the awesome reaction and discovering INXS
The lead singer of INXS is Michael Hutchence & he sadly passed away at the age of 37 in 1997. He was an absolute rock star in the worlds eyes from they way that he was performing on stage. He was one Aussie icon from the songs that he wrote.
Love this that’s INXS pronounced in excess Michael Hutchens was the lead singer sadly passed away way too young
Jimmy Barnes has a Powerful voice. 🔥
The Australian Made Concert
Brilliant brilliant show, the cream of the 80s Aus music crop
This was the finale with them all on-stage
This song came out when I was a baby, in 1980's OZ. Sooooo good! More INXS please!
INXS - never tear us apart! RIP Michael
I'm loving your reactions to our great Aussie singing legends. INXS lead singer Michael Huchence sadly died in 1997. There music is iconic.
Also Midnight Oil is another great Aussie band. 🙂👍
Your candy is our lollies 😉🥰🇦🇺
That’s Jimmy’s song.
R.I.P Michael, you are a legend and still missed dearly by us all!
There isn't really a day that goes by in my life where some INXS tunes don't get played
As for their lead singer (Michael Hutchence), well you've said Farnsey and Diesel could have any woman they wanted.
Well said!
The music we grew up with in Aus, Barnsey, Farnsey, Cold Chisel, INXS, The Angels, Oils, and so many more - Seen all of these hundreds of times live, in pubs & concerts - how lucky are we 🇦🇺
You don't know how awesome it is for me to see your reaction to Barnsie, ive grown up listening to him, he has and will always be a part of my life
Just started following this morning.
I’m so glad I was part of this era as an audience, we were so lucky. Aussie pub rock on steroids 💥
I was hoping you'd do this one. Two Aussie legends.
I'll put it out there now:
Look up 'Original Sin' by INXS. One of their biggest hits from the mid 80s. Interesting fact about this song is that Darryl Hall from Hall and Oates is one of the back up singers in the chorus. Hope to hear it down the track.
And it was banned in America.
Is it still banned or no?
@@dsamusic5043 no not now.
@@wren1960 hahahhahaa what is going on there? Look at what they dish out and original Sin is banned.
@@sallieb6435 was in some parts back in the 80's it still charted. Not now.
One of my favourite videos ever. Michael will forever be missed.
It was called "Australian Made " and there is a DVD out there but, like Woodstock, they missed a performance.
now you find Micheal Hutchence, your lost in Aussie music now mate, now you just need to learn about Ross Wilson(Daddy Cool), Angry Anderson(Rose Tattoo) and so many more the rest of the world has missed out on
Dave gleeson!!
@@HerecomesChristmas ohhh yes and Graeme(Shirley) Strachan(SkyHooks), Hunters and Collectors, Midnight Oils and so so so many more
@@koolmick1878 i have found watching reactionists from other countries, that the oils aren't a good one unless the requester provides background about each song and the band. Most people overseas would not have a clue about australian history or politics
@@HerecomesChristmas yes you are right about that
The Angels
Aaah so goo you get to see more of our great talent... that no shirt dude, is the late Great Micheal Hutchins..the band is another fav of ours that made the big time (pronounced) IN .. XS. INXS..loving your vids.. cheers
One of my fave live songs. Michael is so happy here , I wish we still had him.
One of the best to ever do it.
And just like that your INXS journey starts. Nice one mate
I know I'm a bit late but the GORGEOUS lady you see on stage singing next to Salmon Shirt Groover is Chrissy, The lead singer of the Divinyls. She was and still the most coolest female aussie rock chic! (RIP C.A)
Their voices work so well together. I never knew they sang together.
Honestly Jimmy's concerts are just brilliant, I have seen him 4 times and everytime was a blast. He has a very Aussie sense of humour and you just never know what he is going to do next.
INXS was my fav band growing up .. Australian Made is the concert that was played at ...I was 15 ... it was crazy!!
No one today can sing like this! its all filtered! and none can even play an instrument! its great you liked this song
So glad you discovered INXS and Michael 🥰
Aussie Aussie Aussie ♥ ❤
Oi,Oi,Oi!!!
