    First, thanks fof no music, exhaust pitch is the music wenreal car guys want to hear, finally a real car video.I live an hour East of the Dragon. 318 curves, in 11 miles!!! Very impressive driving, amazing to thank the Cayman was hitting peaks as high as 71 & still couldn't catch-up😲!!!

      Thank you very much. The flat 6 symphony philharmonic is all i listen to while driving that car. And yes. That McLaren was sitting at Killboy and it was almost dusk. He asked if i wanted to make a run. I'm fairly quick (10:15 or so from state line to overlook). He turned out to be a local who absolutely crushed that road. I thought I'd be able to keep up, even with a supercar with every advantage a Cayman has. I was wrong. That McLaren has twice my horsepower, twice my torque, same mid-engine layout, better brakes, better aero and seemingly so, a better driver. I'm not slow up there, and he absolutely three corner dusted me. When I agreed to make the run with him, I thought this would be a video of me and a McLaren running the Dragon. Turned out to be a homage to a better driver with a better car showing me how to drive. Other than passing a vehicle in an open stretch, neither of us, regardless of speed, crossed the forbidden mustard. Thanks for watching, and commenting.

    Cayman is one of my favourite cars in the world, from it's first launch, regardless of price!!! I saw a GT4 a couple of years ago at the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta, it was perfect😁 I don't own anything exotic...but I do have a 350Z, 370Z & a VWR. At one of the ZDAYZ, many years ago, I met the founder/owner of Killboy, on the Dragon, he was driving an EVO, I believe, way back then. He was a pretty cool guy, living an Amazing dream😎!!!

      That's Darryl Cannon. A personal friend of mine. He scoots around there with his bikes and his Porsche Macan S. He's a great guy. Follow him on TH-cam. Killboy. Com i believe. I haven't had this Porsche since November of 2019. And that is why the video stopped coming. However, last week I placed an order for a 2022 Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0. I'm very eager to get this car. Manual transmission, and all the goodies. I'm excited. Look for more videos starting in November or December when the GTS hits stateside

    Great Run! I'm always a little concerned over meeting a cruiser over the double yellow on a blind decreasing radius turn at 60mph.... Yes, its happen to me more than once. I was lucky it was just a close call as I was hard on the inside of my lane. Still an eye opener. Again, great run.

    • @caymanchronicles4753
      @caymanchronicles4753  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I am always aware of the dangers this and other roads like it present. A cruiser in my lane is among them. I never push the car harder on a public road than I can safely drive it and stop it. But sometimes others do, and that's the risk we take when we use public roads to fill our itch for driving spiritedly. There are no trophies given on Tail of the Dragon, so my hope is that while the two drivers in this video were certainly driving more aggressively than most, the viewers come away knowing neither driver was concerned more with speed than safety. Thanks so much for the comment and Happy Easter.

      @@caymanchronicles4753 - started driving the dragon in 2005. I’ve seen it go bad for cars & bikes but usually bikes. The worst was when emergency personnel were holding up sheets on the side of the road to block the view of something/someone. That’s was about 5 miles past Fontana Village on SR 28 towards Deals Gap. They had the road closed due to that accident. It was bad. I presume a fatality(s). Be safe & enjoy.

      The driver of the McLaren is extremely talented. He also didn't cross the double yellow (mustard) at all. That car is amazing. I loved this Porsche, but that McLaren has a lot of the same advantages (mid-engine, phenomenal steering and braking, great balance) as well as twice the horsepower and torque and an equally talented driver. I can hang with almost any car and driver combo on this road. Not this one. Thank you for the comments and enjoy driving safely and with spirit

    • @caymanchronicles4753
      @caymanchronicles4753  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The speed was off, as it was kept track by GPS on my phone. And right turns on public roads will always be higher G forces as the turn goes away from the oncoming lane

      @justwannasharevideo1058 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@caymanchronicles4753 huh, you mean bc of the crown of the road? I thought the g sensor was rotated off kilter or something bc you dont look slower on the left handers. Never thought about the roads being off camber for left hand turns.
      And you prolly dont need accurate speeds posted for us to see haha

    • @caymanchronicles4753
      @caymanchronicles4753  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@justwannasharevideo1058 actually, what I'm saying is since the right hand turns, regardless of camber (although most are positive camber), turn away from oncoming traffic rather than towards it and you can also cut the mayo (shoulder) and keep speed, your right hand turns will carry more speed and produce higher G forces. It's a "safer" environment than a left on a public road where there's oncoming traffic on your left.

      As a regular to TOTD, I'm aware that people commute through US129. When it was safe, the McLaren passed a slow vehicle, and where it wasn't, we patiently waited for the truck to pull over. Thanks for the compliment, and I'll tell ya that the McLaren's driver was amazing as was his car. Very few get 2 to 3 corners ahead of me on this road, and he sorta dusted me in areas. Also without crossing the center double yellow.

    Cayman just needs to stay in 2nd gear all day. They have such long gear ratios. It’s sad how porsche neutered the Cayman. Test drove one before I bought my Supra. I really like the Cayman too. If porsche gave it close gear ratios, bye bye 911.😂

    • @caymanchronicles4753

      Thank you!! Very kind of you to say! I'll agree that the video doesn't truly capture the G forces and the narrow lanes and how precise you must be to drive this aggressively, yet safely, on such a dangerous road. And how fast those sharp turns come up on you, and how relentless they are, one after another after another.

    • @caymanchronicles4753
      @caymanchronicles4753  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Winding out second in the Cayman S is 82mph. On TOD, I usually short shift at 65 so I can use downshifting to aid the brakes in slowing down. But this McLaren had me in horsepower 2 to 1. Torque 3 to 1. Also the Cayman usually has engine placement as an advantage. But not so here. McLaren is mid engine. I had to Rev out second many times which put strain on the brakes. I think what I was most satisfied with in this run was the fact that we never crossed or touched a yellow the whole adventure. Chasing an E55 must have been a blast!!
